The Tagish Lake Meterorite has been found to contain organic molecules that are older than our solar system.

They've survived somehow, intact on an asteroid for over four and a half billion years and where they come from, we don't know. But it's not from around here. It's from somewhere else.

Is this proof of otherworldly life? Was our own planet seeded by similiar meteorites billions of years ago? Seems to me that at the very least this indicates that life exists elsewhere in the universe.

Absolutely rediculous and it does not matter anyways. Humanity is a speck of dust in the grand picture and we have no meaning to the universe.
Our civilzation is doomed and there is nothing anyone can ever do about it. We will become extinct just like the dinosaurs did and it just won't matter. Life somewhere else in the universe does not matter, you will never see it. You are just an insignificant human being and make no difference anywhere, so just go find your bowl and light up.

damn, and i thought i was a pessimistic SOB. grab a cup of coffee and try again, for me it's far too early for such doom and gloom.

If there was organic life on a meteor that struck earth recently I would have read it in the paper this morning.
Its a well known but crappy theory because the life would have to survive the explosion of the planet it was origionally on, survive space travel (a vaccum), and then live through the scorching heat of entry through our atmosphere

Errrm, check the links, dude, it's real. The meteor hit earth about a year ago and the results are in. They DID find organic molecules. It's not a "crappy theory" any longer. What is more, the stuff is older than our solar system. That is, 4.6 billion years old, proving that it did not come from earth.

Maybe I won't see it, but the scientists who studied this meteorite did.

Typical attitude of ignorant stoner punks. No wonder society looks down on cannabis users. Do you bully the nerds at school, as well, or just online. My guess is it's just online.
ROTFLMAO It's fn hilarious that threads like "Can I snort kif?" gets dozens of serious replies and a real thread about an important scientific discovery attracts only ignorance and negativity. If it wasn't for nerds you'd still be sitting in a log cabin trying to keep warm by your wood stove. That's if you even know how to build a log cabin, which I doubt.
If the thread doesn't interest you then don't post, please. Now go smoke though your Bounce sheet bong, and don't forget to hide the smell from your Mom or she's gonna take your Playstation away.

Actually, i don't see fasterspider's attitude as pessimistic, just realistic. I believe it's a more elevated perspective and seems to translate your problems into mere pettiness. to say that it's a 'gloom and doom' attitude indicates that you're more into sentimentality than reality

I think we were bound to find something like this at some point.
