So, when u trim off unwanted fan leaves instead of throwing them u can smoke em... Heres my 3 qs.
1. How much/many leaves off an immature plant does it take to get high, (if its possible, i know it depends on the strain but just roughly). Eg: 2oz or 10 leaves...
2. same question for a mature plant.
3. do u have to dry the leaves before smoking them? if not what are the advatages if u do?

People on here tell you that you don't get high off them. I have no experience but my FIL used to grow and says that he would snack off his plants while in veggie stage by smoking the fan leaves. He told me to try it by sticking the leaves in a brown sack to let them dry, shaking occasionally. Again this is not my personal experience, just thought I would share.
It is hard to smoke a wet leaf, and not to mention it would be harsh, that I do know. Good Luck!

I am almost positive Its a bad idea to pull healthy Fan leaves off the plant at any stage in the life cycle.
As well there is no THC on the leafs of the plant in the veg stage of the plants life.
I don't know much but I pretty sure about that one!

KD has the right idea, theres no point in pulling off healthy leaves, you can probably get stoned if you smoke loads, but why hurt a good plant for a quick buzz?
from a mature plant, yes you can use them, but again, why hurt it,
...after harvest is the time to experiment with leaves, use them for cooking or dry them out and use as an addetive in your joints to bulk them out a bit.

There's lots of misinformation on this... noobs keep saying they are going to do it, and then people read it and take it as Gospel... it's actually quite bad practice. Besides, who cares about popcorn buds.. it's the big fat top colas you're after, and they are going to be a heck of a lot lamer if you cut off the plant's sugar factories!
its like cutting off your nose to spite your face,
the leaves are there for a reason, although, a bit of light pruning, late on in flower i guess is ok, thats what i do, otherwise just tuck them under or tie them down.

Yuck not even worth the hassle IMHO I'd rather scrape and smoke nasty bowl residue if I were ever that desperate
The only way to know is to try it. If you have a higher tolerance I wouldn't chance it. I wouldn't go crazy either because like all of the previous posters said the fan leaves are needed for growth. Let us know if you do try- I'm curious to see if my FIL was right. S

i'm in agreement with most, cutting leaves is like cutting chunks out of human lung. But, if you feel you must to thin it out, just eat the mo-fos, especially when they're cyrstally. Might burn a little going down, but mmmmm..mmmmH! Chew that cud like a holstein. I'm sorry to say that unless its bud leaf, it will probably take most of your plant's leaves to feel anything. Probably a good source of fiber, though.
eating the leaves might provide some nutrition, but any thc in it would have to be heat-activated. maybe put a bunch of male leaves into boiling water and eat them like a soup. I'm curious how that would turn out. i'd still rather go and find a sack of dank, though

I cut off a lot of the lower fan leaves to make the plant focus on the new growth. Everyone has mixed feelings about taking fan leaves off...anyways, I boiled 20 grams of leaves in milk for 15 minutes. (low fat unfortunately, is all I had). You have to stir it often so it doesn't curdle or burn. Don't out a lid on it either or it will boil over really fast. I then strained the milk out of the leaves. The milk was nice and green. I mixed the green milk with more milk, enough to fill a glass, and put in a some hersheys chocolate syrup. It tasted like chocolate milk. It didn't get me high. I'm not going to cut any more fan leaves off, cuz if you can't smoke em' or eat em', why cut em'? I also tried smoking some dried leaves in a bong. The smoke made me cough so hard I almost hurt myself. I didn't get high. So, I'm done with the leaves and focusing on buds...lol Hope that helps.
you cant get stoned off of leaves but its best to dry them...
