How to smoke from a bong? ...Confused

I know i might sound like a dumbass but how do you smoke from a bong?! Ive been dying to find out. I get the main princaples like you light it from the bowl but how does the smoke travel from the bowl to the chamber with water? Do you inhale and the smoke will enter the chamber or what because the other part of the bowl piece is submerged under water so inhaling wouldnt do anything. Im just confused...any help would really be appreciated since i have yet to smoke from a water bong. And also...whats a carb and a slide or slider?

ok dude u light the bowl. breathe in as hard as u can. youll here the bubblin sound because the smoke goes through the water. then when you feel like u cant take any more smoke, take the carb out, which is basicaly the bowl piece, and clear the bong.

and by clear the bong he means breathe in extra hard with that lasttttt breath and the remaining smoke in the chamber and such will fly into your lungs. getting you really high! :stoned:

it works like this i believe...when you seal off the chamber with your mouth and inhale, it creates a vacuum inside the bong and in order to equalize the pressure, air is forced from the outside, causing the flame to be sucked onto the weed, which produces the smoke, which is then sucked through the bowl, into the chamber, it bubbles up from under the water, the bubbles pop and out comes cool, smooth smoke, straight into your lungs.

okay so i just basically light the bowl piece and the smoke will automatically go to the water? Or do I have to light and suck at the same time for the smoke to get to the water?

You have to suck in for the air to pass through, & with a lighter above the weed, itll light the weed on the way.
basically you're sucking in the whole time.

Have you ever stuck your straw in a glass of water and blown? You get bubbles, right? This is basically the same principal. You are sucking the top to pull the smoke through the water.

Think of the bowl as the straw, and instead of blowing into it, you are sucking the other end to get the same effect.

lol you need a bowl and a stem to go into the water man lol, the bowl doesnt touch the water its a stem that can fit your bowl in it and the stem goes into the bottom of the bong and the smoke comes from the bowl through the water up the chamber and into your mouth :thumbsup:

i personally light the bowl, pull(inhale) untill the entire bong is filled with smoke(cant see through it)...take my mouth of but immediately cover the top with my hand. i then exhale fully, put my mouth back on, pull the stem and bowl out and rip away till its clear...

This is the proper way to hit a bong. Generally for a large bong.

This actually isn't a stupid question. I have let so many people hit my 2ft bong and they always do it wrong


it takes two breaths on big bongs
1) breath in and fill the bong with smoke. You are setting up the hit
(no smoke in lungs yet)
2) remove mouth breath out
3) pull out bowl, or remove finger from carb
4) breath in again as fast as possible (smoke enters lungs)

this is the best way to hit a big bong.

most of the descriptions above only work for small bongs. they are just using the technique for hitting a bubbler or pipe on a bong. And it works for small ones

I think thats the n00b way of smoking. I can fill and clear my 3 foot green monster in one hit.

i find it to be more hard hitting....i can fill and clear almost every bong ive ran in to(nothing bigger than 80cm) with one full breath...but if i fill the bong, take a deep breath and fully exhale to clear my lungs, the bong hit just goes in better for me.it almost feels like it goes deeper in to my lungs and i can feel it better.

i'm sure you can. but no one can fill and clear a bong with over a 3L capacity.
it is impossible unless your lung capacity exceeds 6L which isn't common.

it is actually very difficult to smoke my bong even using this method as it's volume is very large. 2ft with a D of =2 inch-7inch

I dont think there are noob ways and pro ways. I have found this to be the most effective way (dosn't loose smoke/dosn't let it go stale/you get nice thick smoke,) to hit a large bong. And with my bong Iâ??ve never seen anyone take an entire hit any other way.

IF you can clear a bong without using it, then good on you. but remember you want to always inhale an amount of pure air after the it so the smoke isn't in your esophagus and bronchial tubes.

Dude, the best way to figure it out is to do it, the first thing i smoked was a bong, (i thank it for getting me fried the first time i smoked)
and while taking my first hit i didint suck hard enough, but beware sucking too hard on finer grinded weed will probably result in your bowl getting sucked into the bong water, oh yah, the tighter the bowl is packed the harder you'll have to suck, the looser the bowl is packed, the less you have to suck, SUCK AT YOUR DISCRESSION.

i too can clear a 3 foot bong filled with smoke, but its not PACKED with smoke...if i pull on a bowl untill i cant pull anymore and the entire bong is white as in you cant even see hte smoke moving around, its just one big white tube, THEN it's ready....RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP:stoned:

the point that i was just about to make, just cause smoke is to the top, doesnt mean that theres lots, theres much more room for smoke still

alright one more question. Whats a ''Carb''. Is it like a hole you make and cover up with your finger so that no air can get in while you inhale. Do you release it when you inhale the smoke. At least thats what I think it is I would just need confirmation. Thanks in advance.

well, on most nicer bongs you just pull out the bowl but some bongs have a hole in the side you plug with your finger and release to clear the smoke

Basically, after your done ripping on your peice there is still smoke left in the stem or chambers. So by removing your finger from the whole or creating the whole by removing the bowl (rhyme), instead of drawing on your bud air just rushes in and clears all the smoke out by shooting it down your lungs!:rasta:

It’s Carb as in Carbonator in a car. Which mixes gas with air.
This carb mixes smoke with air (usually in a pipe)

When bongs have them we usually call them shot guns. As bongs usually have a pull out bowl.
Cuz they shoot you in the chest

Just listen to "Hits From The Bong" by Cypress Hill...it basically has instructions
