There are a group of oxidative molecules called ROS (reactive oxygen species)
ROS includes:
Superoxide Anions
H2O2
Hydroxyl Radical
etc...
These compounds are very harmful to your cells and damage a number of molecules including proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids.
I am a bit worried about anyone who used hydrogen peroxide as bong water and recommend you go get some testing because inducing genetic mutations is not exactly healthy...

Yeah, I remember seeing that thread. I'm glad I didn't try it, but given the information here, I feel bad for the people who actually did.
I think I'll stick to using water.
Lets not forget that H202 is poured directly onto open wounds to sanitize them.....and used as a mouthwash. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
What was the reason to use this as bong water? I dont remember seeing that thread.
Also hydrogen peroxide that you buy in the store is REALLY diluted. I believe its about a 3% concentration of h2o2 (correct me if Im wrong).
Yeah, that is the one they were referring to putting in a bong. The 3% solution is used for cleaning wounds. 5% solution is used for bleaching hair. I doubt any of the ppl that tried it went out and bought industrial grade h2o2
funny that u say this cuz in my science class today we did a lab with h2o2...but why would u use it as bong water?

Hey, guys. Here was the original thread, which first debuted in the third week of October. The alleged purpose of the experiment was to use H202 as bong water because, the hypothesis went, it would serve as a more effective filter than regular water.

This experiment was deemed unsuccessful in the end because it did have unpleasant effects. Also, there was no reliable way to measure increased filtration results. I am hesitant to post the link here again because, stoners being what they are, I fear others might want to try it or might also be apt to take the opportunity to ridicule those who did. Please don't make me remove this thread entirely for either of those reasons.
Here's hoping everyone will take no further risks with bong fluids. And here's hoping that, if Moorephened ever goes into medicine in the future, he has lots of malpractice insurance.
Who knows if it is a bad idea or not...I just know that duncan87 should get a medal for having the balls to go first.

It can be fun to experiment, but theres really no reason.
Like someone said it like like 3% of the whole bottle is H2O2. It won't really do shit. Your not inhaling it anyway. If you swallow some when using it for a mouthwash or a canker soar its not going to cause genetic mutations.
Also if you let peroxide sit out without a lid on it for so many hours it turn back into regular h2o. But it would suck if your children turned out to be mutants because of using it as bong water.
^^ It might suck a bit but you would have a good story to tell...and if your ever a soulless, prohibitionist parent you'll have tons of reasons why people shouldn't smoke. lol

If you read the original post, you'll see people claiming that it burned really bad in their throat, lungs, and face when they inhaled direct vapors from the peroxide solution.
I dont think it will make you a mutant, i just said its definately not healthy.
