My Mom and Grandma Used to cook all night..... Now I am pretty good cook.
Pecan Pie
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup corn syrup light or dark
3 eggs
1 cup chopped pecans
Melt butter.....stir in sugars...... then put eggs in....dont cook them...put pecans in, and pour into 9 inch pie shell......
cook at 350 for 45-hour.....

Mmmmm. Pecan pie is my dad and husband's favorite. Mine is apple. Or maybe pumpkin. But really, if it has crust on it and is sweet, I generally like it.
I still need to go down to the kitchen and make my salad to take to my aunt's tomorrow. I've been putting it off all day. And now it's nearly 1 a.m. I'm tempted to say "Woops, I forgot it," but my son or husband would bust that story wide open. OK, here I go!

Masta it is so good cause it is so easy.....
Bring your sugars up to temp slowly.... you will see the sugar crystals will disolve....and it will start to Boil.....then your egg will bring temp down.....and then pecans........so good. Good luck.

The salad I still needed to make is called lime congealed salad--lime Jello, pecans, pineapple and cream cheese, and I hope it has long enough to set before we leave in the morning, but it should be fine. And I also made cole slaw, which is a strange Thanksgiving dish, I know, but I always make it and everyone loves it. So I'm contributing green foods this year. . . .

Higha, RonJohn! Good to see you here. Truce indeed! All is well on my end, too, my brother. Except that all this talk of food is making me hungry!! This is the only drawback to our not having Thanksgiving here at our house this year. If dinner were here tomorrow, I could go down to the kitchen now and nip a little dressing . . . maybe some ham, too. All the real food's 75 miles away at my aunt's house!
haha... well holidays are here and our house is reeking from turkey in the oven and colas from the closet, idk which one is more tempting!!!!!

I'm amazed you can even function to cook pies, Bongster. Is your dinner tomorrow night or during the day? We'll eat in early afternoon, but my husband and I had a long nap this afternoon, so we're both wide awake now. Our boy's been sound asleep for four hours. He may have to do the driving tomorrow for his old, sleepy parents. . . .

my grandmother is from england, and she makes the best meat, and minced meat pies. she usualy makes like little minced meat pies witch are wicked good with a tall galss of milk.

In term of savoury, i'd say one of my fav foods is Stake & Kidney with Bodintons draught bitter pie.
And sweet... apple pie.. with weed.
My fav is tortierre, Pork Pie. Always for Christmas but often right through winter.
