I was reading another post and Dutch Man, I think, was talking about wasting weed if you don't light the bowl properly.
What is the best way to light a bowl? When I'm hitting my bong I make sure to take it slow and now light the whole fucker at once.
Suggestions or tips out there?
By myself there is no proper way. BOMBS AWAY I say...
But if its chron or im in a group I light a side of it. Or half of it it works really well. The flame gets deep down and leaves the other half untouched.
i recommend lighting the side of the bowl (if possible) that way, it burns slower, and more than one person gets the "green hit"
keep it fresh brother.
I've heard that alot of the THC gets burnt away on the first hit, so what I do is hold the lighter about an inch above the bowl I'm lighting. Than I slowly inhale allowing the weed to slowly light up, It's sorta like a vapor hit where you let it heat-up gradually so you don't burn away most of the THC on the first hit. Also hitting one half the bowl allows for a friend to get the fresh THC on the other side of the bowl, sometimes it'll make a ying-yang symbol hitting one half the bowl.:thumbsup:

I'm glad that someone else knows about the Ying Yang bowl! I love gettin' stoned and looking into the bowl. I've seen Ying Yang bowls, Pac Man bowls, Olive bowls etc.

Yeah cornering is a good method.. but what I prefer is to just use the cheap-o lighters and adjust the flame to be as small as possible to only light small sections of the bowl at a time. BICS are good, reliable lighters but they have huge flames that will usually always end up burning more bud than you want it to.
Whenever the bowl is cherried and smoke is seeping out of the top, a lot more bud is being wasted than people probably think. Notice how thick that smoke is. Usually a small /decent sized hit each time, so when this is avoided you can easily squeeze in a few more overall hits. Dont believe me? Have someone torch the bowl when they take a hit, and put your mouth over the bowl at the same time and see how much smoke you can get and you will understand why the goal is to avoid letting that smoke going to waste.
cornering is a bad idea becuase the heat from the first hit basicly gets rid of most of the thc i always find that if you pack slightly smaller bowls and cherry them in one go it is ALOT more effective

cornering a bowl shows you are not a smoking noob and you know what youre doing. everyone like their fair share of the green hit, so leave them some :). i also like to cherry it and puff on it for a while, until its completley cashed.
if there's a flame on your bud for more than 3 seconds, then you're over doing it... it's not crack people, you don't have to keep flame on it....

like someone else said, try and light the side of the bowl so you only light a third or fourth of the green top. also, have a quarter or other coin handy to cap over the bowl after your hit so that it goes out and you dont lose the smoke
i try to keep the flame as far to the right of the bowl as i can. i hate when people make a circle around the entire bowl and burn the whole thing with the first hit. like someone said, it just allows for more green hits. i have smoked in groups as big as like 5 and most people know to burn as little as they can and i have gotten the bowl back with one more sliver of a green hit. its a courtesy thing i guess.

It has a lot to do with somthing, mainly the frequency of posts i see concerning which method of use saves the most. I just put it in here. If i confused you with a topic change im sorry. If your smoking by yourself and want the green that bad why dont you just pack smaller bowls that you cash in a hit instead of partially burning a bowl and only getting a real green hit once.Quote:

And yeah, there is a proper way to light a bowl and share a bowl. My smoking buddy has been burning for years and years....but when we smoke a bowl, and he gets the first hit, he'll burn the whole fuckin bowl up and get a big ass weed eating cherry going....might as well not pass it to me.
I've changed that shit....we tradeoff on bowls. He can go ahead and blaze his bowl and I can slowly enjoy and corner my bowls. My last hit is as tasty and fulfilling as my first.
