YES ALL IVE FINALLY BROKE DOWN AND BOUGHT IT AND IM SO HAPPY!!!!!
theres only one problem, its a "build your own" kit and i have no idea on how to wire it (ballast,starter, and igntor)

i hope that's not your face posted there!!!!!!!!!! if it is you are crazy! security is the most important thing to a grow. posting your pic on sites like this is an extreme risk to the security of your grow imo!
you should realy have a housing for that ballast to lower the risk of fire.

PS, the fact that were on here is bad enough, i wouldnt worry even if the pic WAS real
i guess your right, all this shit just gets me nervous sometimes i have 2 young children who need me not to go to jail for gardening! it wouldn'ty hurt to put a fan blowing on the ballast.

so my fan is blowing in winter air at 35'F (which is suspicious as hell) into my room and my room temp stays at 75F and will not drop and my exaust fan is like a damn space heater blowing this hot air out
please what do i do
im in fear of getting caught by neighbors seeing this activity and such so what can be done for light leaks and heat (btw the above pics do... i repeat DO have 6 mil plastic on the closet door vents)
god i didnt think 1K of light would be this hard to maintain!!!!
help needed...

There's a couple things you can do to remove the heat factor from that closet:
1) Remove the ballast to a box outside the closet........helps quite a bit.
2) Add another cooling fan directed towards the bulb.......usually with my set up the oscillating fan I use for the plants hits the lights but I also have a larger area to work with than you do.
3) Your best bet is to probably drop the bulb wattage down to a 400 or 600 and put the 1000 in a drawer. The higher wattage the more heat.......your ballast will still work with a lower wattage lamp and with the use of Mylar you can still get the desired effects your looking for with that small of an area.]

taking the ballast out of the grow space will make a HUGE difference.
the light leak will not only comprimise the security of your grow but will cause the plants to flower extremely slow, hermie, revert back to veg, or even not flower at all. the dark cycle must be COMPLETELY DARK if you want a good grow. i always made my 12hours on from 6pm to 6am. in the summer it is much cooler so the temps stay down and in the winter it keeps the temps from getting too low at night. with lights on from midnight to noon you better not have a day job or you are gonnahave to stay up real late or get up real early to take care of your plants(watering, transplanting, training, etc.) you cannot open the door to the growspace when the lights are not on!!!!!!!!!!!!

ive just been running the light for like 5hrs a day and tryin to keep it dark when not in use untill payday, then im gonna construct a "cool tube"

and put a coat of foil as a reflector (i already have mylar lined walls)
but untill then, is it safe for the gender of the clones to run under 4/20 untill then (the heat is too bad to run the light any longer)

just use some flouros or cfl's (24/0 or 18/6) in the mean time 4 hrs of light isn't good for clones(or any plant for that matter)
oh yeah, don't use foil, it creates a "laser" effect with hid lighting and will burn your plants.
