Because marriage doesnt work in the world today
its and institution that is in decay
and if i, have love i wish to portray,
i will surely find another way.
I believe in marriage. My parents have been together for 30yrs, my grandparents 50+ yrs, and all my aunts and uncles on my mom's side are married w/o any divorces.
The thing is, marriage is a lot of work... Too many people marry too young and too early... Having kids too early too doesnt help as it can put a lot of stress on a marriage.... One day I hope I'll get married but I dont see that happening until my mid 30s at the earliest... The key is all about waiting until both people are mature and ready and going into with the mind set that marriage is a lot about compromises :)
I think Someuser's right. Half of marriages do last. And when folks get married for the first time later rather than sooner, particularly after getting decent educations--and when they don't get married because of an accidental pregnancy--the success rate is much higher.
Not all marriages are meant to work. I'm convinced of that. But there's a lot to be said for sticking through the rough spots and staying married. It certainly does take work, and it takes a strong desire to be married rather than divorced or single. It's a whole lot easier to throw the towel in, to be honest. I've been married for 24 years. My parents have been for 53 years. My in-laws for 51 years. And my grandparents were married 67 years and 63 years, respectively, when death did them part. So there are some marriages that do last.
I've been married for 40 years to the same dude. We rarely fight, we toke a lot, we love and support each other. We have a partnership for life. And no, it hasn't always been easy. There have been rough spots, but we got through them. With marriage, there is a sense of security lacking in "just living together" lacks. Marriage feels like a warm coat on a cold day. I do advise that you wait at least 5 years before having kids (I waited almost 7), since men (and frequently women) are usually not ready for the heavy duty stress that having kids brings and you need the time to party and really get to know each other. A little secret for a long marriage- Be sure to say "I love you" (and mean it) every day. :thumbsup: Marriage rocks!:dance:

If we had it to do over again, we'd have waited longer to have a baby (we were only married two years when he came along) and longer to get married in the first place. Looking back, 22 and 26 were mighty young ages at which to get hitched, despite the fact that we're still together. Another helpful secret for a long marriage? Marry someone you love and are physically attracted to. There's a lot to be said for having lots of sex to keep the connection alive.
Im all for marriage. It's good thing, and of course it works in this day and age.
Just becayse some people are ready to rush into it and fuck everything up doesnt mean were all that stupid.

Marriage is a great institution! Been there done that twice now and can't wait for the third. The beginning and middle are great.....then if it comes to an end it's like doing a clean sweep on your garbage. She'll take EVERYTHING that she can so you FINALLY get a clean house! All is well that ends well.:D

Don't do it, Inferius! Spread your seed till you're at least in your early 30s and have a couple of degrees. Then settle in and be domesticated. Monogamy's still hard even then. And it's hard on women, too. Lots of folks forget that fact. . .
I'll plat the wild card here, were in our early and mid 20, married w/3 and wouldn't have it any other way, especially when we compare our relationship w/ others we know. Some people just never know when they'll meet the right person, but i hope they finally do. I'm sure good morals has a lot to do with it also. Cause people without morals are the wild disease spreaders that need to be watched out for. Just like reading that lil blonde stoners threads, hey might be a cute chick but if she stays on that path long enough some dirty persons gonna ruin her life. You can't spin the drum too many times without gettin the bullet.
P4B the thing about takin the mess with her cracked me up, fortunatly me and my wife kinda swapped roles and i'm a stay at home dad now, i think guys do run a tidier house.

did ya know that in amsterdam they dont get married anymore really. they get with one another, have kids and live together and boy if they aint the happiest people!

Shit man, my parents have been together 20 years, theyve both gone to college, spent alot of time at work, now my moms is retired, my dad still has his construction business, but here they are 57 and 58 years old, and theyre getting a divorce. Man my family is fucked up. My mom and dad still live together, but my mom is fucking some rich dude now, and my dad is just poppin pills and chillin.
All in all, marriage does seem to be a lost cause in alot of cases.
I dont think marriage has really changed over the years. Yes many more people get divorced these days. I dont think that is because people are making bad choices or love dosn't work these days (maybe they have a very small effect).
I think it is because there is no social stigma behind getting divorced anymore. 50 years ago people would just keep the marriage going and live unhappily. So now the only thing that has changed is that people can leave unfulfilling relationships
i consider marriage to be a very unnatural thing. you dont see wolves getting married, they just mate for liufe, no ceremony needed, just like an unspoken agreement.

I know that my hubby trusts, loves and protects me and thats what makes me sleep well at night. We are from two diff walks of life but I think thats what gives us the glue that holds us together.....:thumbsup:
