Well,
I need a little help picking a new fan. I already have two six inch inline 440 cfm fans. I was about to pick up another one on ebay for $170 then saw a Dayton Blower 465 CFM for $100.00 and thought about trying something new. Before I drop some cash, I thought of getting a little input from the forum. So the question is which the best fan for the money and why.

but the inlines are the way to go. wish i found that out first.
a blower is more efficient than an inline fan. but they are very loud. It's there only draw back.
How much are you willing to spend? If you are going to be under 500CFM the Vortex is probably in the top 3 and really the hydro farms are nice, but do not compare to some of the fans like the vortex. My 172 vortex inline moves almost twice as much air as my 280CFM Hydro Farm.
If you are going to go higher than 500CFM the hurricane will do the trick IMO. I think it was GK that said that one had the doors in a house flexing with the negative static pressure.

i'm a firm believer in vortex or hurricane fans . i have 3 of them . 2- 630 cfm hurricanes 1 pushing / 1 pulling thru my cooltubes , and a 450 cfm vortex for my carbon scrubber .
important things to consider before making your purchase
1- daytons are noisey
2-hurricane / vortex have like a 5 or 10 yr. warranty
3-daytons can't run a carbon scrubber effectivly as jacks thread points out they're not completely sealed .

i forgot 1 more important factor w/ the fans . you can't run a fan speed controller w/ daytons . you can w/ hurricanes -n- vortexes .

Thanks for educating me on this subject. Money is not an issue. Hell the local dealer is getting $400 on a QP of swag in my area. So a couple hundred for a fan is just the cost of doing business.
The Avalanche I have from highgrade seeds are about to move into the flowering room are expected to yield from 3 to 4 oz each. I don't sell but I expect my equipment/supplies to be cost effective.
A quiet unassuming grow is priority number one. An inline fan shall be ordered now that the facts have been presented. Thanks for the sharing.

Elicient or Vortex or Fantech. I have had great luck with all of these and they all are nicely made. I prefer Elicient out of all of them, they seem to move the most air. Speed controllers should be mandatory and included. a 700cfm fan at 75% speed is far quieter then a 500cfm fan at 100% speed.

The vortex fans are the top of the line for me.They are quiet with a noise level of 49 DB's.You can build a box and put the fan in it and insulate it.You will not here any fan noise at all.Get a fan speed controler too cause you may have to slow it down a little.If you box the fan use rock wool sound insulation, it's a more dense insulation.The 6" fan is 449 cfms at .09 amps. 10watts and 2600 rpm.This fan can push air through a 6" duct for about 50 Ft.!
They have a 5 year warranty which is the best you can get.

Honestly get an vortex im upset i didnt think about my hydrofarm befor i bought it, with the carbon scrubers you get more static pressure with the inline cans, they keep good pressure so u dont loose to much, with the hydrofarm i have 465cfm and i would guess im pussing about 150cfm with the carbon filter. so they dont matter unless your using a filter but either way u might be using on ein the future...
if ur not useing a filter then the hydroframs are worth it 100% mainly becuase they half the price and do the same thing. and if ur using the 465 there not that loud, i hear my air circulation fans more. thats if u have ventings on the ins and outs they muffle the sound a little.
