Lol, me and TYCO118 (another member here) were both really stoned and we tried to smoke a whole nug in his bong (which has a home made slide piece as of right now lol). I found these pics I thought I would share, wish I could somehow show the video lol.

I was over at this girls house a couple weeks ago and that is how she packed her bowl. Granted it wasn't that big of a nug and it actually fit in the bowl, but it kind of annoyed me. Didn't seem to get good hits, but it did look cool when the entire nug would turn red and glow everytime you inhaled. But hey, I can't complain, she was smoking me out with her stash. To each his own.
i only use a solid (unbroke up) when smoking the dankest. i break off a one hit bud off of a bigger one.

i wish i had a pic of the bud i put in my bubbler just for laughs it was hilarious me and my friend loaded about a 6g. bud in the bowl and it was sticking out like 3-4 inches needless to say we had to carefully balance it so it didnt fall out but only long enough for us to laugh our asses off at how funny it looked.
My one friend was all about smoking whole nugs =/

About the same results as yours, but it was fun.
Its not impossible at all to smoke an entire bud...I have done it plenty of time's. You cant just jam it in there, there has to be some sort of air flowage. But, ya it does work
It defenatly does work, your just real dumb. When you pack regular bowls do you break it into pices and then pile it that high? no, you dont; because it is obsurd and does not work. Why would you do that with a whole nug? split it in half so it doesnt stick out any more then a cm above the bowl. If you can pull air through the bowl with the nug in it the entire unbroken nug will smoke.
