the question is can you clone a plant that is in the state of flowering the reason why i ask this is becasue you can know def, sex of the plant and dont have to waste time by cloning while in veg state and wait to see if that the plant is indeed a female or male. Might be a dumb question but why not ask it i was curious.:dance:
yes you can, but it takes longer and the survival rate isint as good as it would be in veg state
for what reason is it harder to survive compared to a veg clone. also another question if it flowereing and budding per say it can be put back in veg state?
dont put it back into vegging.. that will definitely fuck up your plants
Its a different life cycle. Plants cannot just revert back instantly, its a slow process. Your confusing the plant and stressing it in a period where most of its food is devoted towards developing flowers instead of roots and vegetative growth. I have seen it done, but it took over a month. I find it easier to obtain a new clone and grow it instead of regenerating a flowered plant or reverting back to veg from flower.Quote:

I HAVE TAKEN AN ACTUAL LOWER BUD FROM MY FLOWERING PLANT, AND IN 32 DAYS,,, IT POPPED ROOTS.
IT GROWS ALL RETARDED AS IT RE-VEG'S ITSELF. BUT YOU END UP WITH A NORMAL PLANT WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE.

We had clones root from 2 week flowering plants. They started rooting after a week because they were waterlogged, but as soon as they had some air they started rooting quickly. They reverted just fine and are now showing preflowers in my veg cab.
So yes you can do it, but try not to because like everyone said it's not so good.
I wouldn't try and reveg an entire plant but if you want to take clones I would say it depends how far into flowering it is. Most of my killer clones came from mothers that were in flower a couple of weeks. They do take an extra week or two to get back into veg mode but its no problem usually.
On the other hand, I broke a small branch off a Mango that was several weeks into flower and I decided to clone it since I love the strain and it's only available as clone...it rooted ok after a rough start but now it's new growth is budlike, very tight with small leaves and uncharacteristic of a normal clone. Here's a couple of pics of it. It's reveg is going very slowly, (its a month old from when it got clipped and took two weeks just till it could stand on its on) I think it will eventually be normal again. (crossed fingers)
So I guess the bottom line is, it's okay to clone from flowering mothers but only a week or two into flowering...after that its a lot more difficult, at least based on my very limited experience.
Whats really funny is that it even has trichome crystals on it!! :D
Heh yeah our clones got a couple tiny calyxes on them, with just a few trichs. It was pretty funny to see the confused little girls.

I would not take clones of a flowering female past ~week 2 of flower. Week 3 is pushing it.
You get mold problems if there's a lot of bud mass on the slip.
I took clones 3 weeks into flower wit little buds on them, they only took 12 days to root but are slow reverting back to veg.
Another thing to think about is that your flowering ferts have high phosphorous in them, and you may be adding carbs too, which is actually a plus for prepping a healthy cloneable slip! I seriously give my mothers flower ferts the last feeding before cloning anyway, even in veg. P=roots. rOOts=wOOt.
I took my mother from a lot of 10 plants that were started from seed. They vegged for about five weeks, then after about 5-6 days of flowering the first female showed hairs. Being that this plant showed the most active growth, I removed it from the 400W HPS flowering room and put it in a closet under a 96W T5 floro lamp. It has been in there for about two weeks under 18/6 lighting. Should I worry about this plant going hermie from shock? How long should I expect it to take to revert back to veg so I can take good clones?
Also, this mother is still in the 2 gal pot that I added flowering nutes to for a week before turning back to 18/6, should I flush and/or transplant to a larger pot now that it is back on veg?
