Yeah, the leaves have about the same shape. The stalk gives it away though.

I know, but I'm just starting to get into plants, so I've been looking up cool ones to grow. Like I have some purple pepper plants growing in my closet lol, and those maple trees make an amazing contrast against your standard fall foilage, looking like a tree thats on fire in your yard.

they have similar leaves. a shitload of those trees grow around here though so im not really blown away at a red leaf in the fall. but they do look the same, the leaves that is, the plants dont at all

They're actually red year round, just even darker in the fall.

Japanese maples are beautiful. I think I have had them at every house I have ever lived in. Mapes in general are really cool.

My friend has one next to his house. I always hang the leafs from his rear view... cops have given us problems with that lol.
