Before you have a go, i have trawled through threads upon threads and used the search engine to gather info on growing, however i'm still a bit confused.
Does anyone have any recomendations on a step by step grow guide or dvd or better still something off the internet that they swear by for growing. Something which will also help me to set up my grow room?
Haven't yet decided on soil or hydro.

are you doin like two plants or two hundred? i would say just jump into it and do the trial and error thing. if there's something wrong with your plant, you'll know it, and cannabis.com people will help you out with it.

My best advice is this:
Start with a good soil and everything will just be SOOOO much easier.
Avoid pre-ferted soil, or soil with a high conc. of peat in it, but even 'topsoil' or 'garden' soil from the hardware store can get you going!
yea i got a grow book and i'm sure there are a lot of good ones. but unless your investing a lot of money and are very lazy (thus not wanting to find everything on net). you should be fine.
the guides i posted are good. but they are rather high level and go into detail you may not be interested in.
zandor posts a great grow podcast thing which is very interesting.

make sure you research your purchases. I would say that when people compromise on a purchase (to save money) it's usually were they fuck up

Use that site to find out what's wrong with your plants, if you find anything that looks funky, dead, browning, slumping, etc. It's very helpful.

I only really have the room to grow 2 maybe 3 plants. I am only interested in growing for my own personal use, and it looks like a fun hobby! :stoned:
My main concern is my location of my proposed growroom. It's a small shed outside, it will have power and lighting for everything i need but i am worried the temp may drop quite low over the winter when lights are off. Is this a problem and if so what is the workaround?

If the temps drop down too low, you can always get a small space heater that has a thermometer built in for pretty cheap at wal-mart or lowes right now. Make sure you get one with a thermostat, otherwise it will be hell regulating temps. You won't need it to really keep the room 'warm' hell, letting it drop down to the 60s at night may even make your plants turn purple. :dance:Quote:

Generally they can get down into the 50's, but ideally you want them to be in the 60's when lights are out. The oil filled radiator type heaters work fairly well. If you get frost in the shed, then you will get damaged plants.

True it is best to keep the night temps above 50f, but they shouldn't die unless you get below freezing. Another interesting thing about lower temperatures is the effect it has on pest growth. Mites, flies and mold reproduce slower in a cold room so control is easier.
I wouldn't let it get below around 55-60 degrees minimum man, I'm not sure of an exact temperature though. It shouldn't die unless it freezes, but I wouldn't wanna push it.Quote:
