I guess upon further research, various sites do claim that pot is a depressant...I learn something every day! but still, the fact remains that depressants don't make you depressed. that's garbage

actually cannabis falls into the same category o' drugs as alcohol or this other one (shoulve studied more at bio) teh inhibitory ones i think
and what they do is stop the nervous electrical circuits by blokin teh receptors (as a generaliztion), cannabis blocks them by replacing them....

case is yeah, it slows ur heart rate down it doesnt litterally depress u, normally some ppl take weed BECOUSE they are depressed in the first place, then they get more depressed becouse of their life not becouse of weed, and they blame it on the weed....... sux, gives weed a bad rep

I have a friend who's husband got a fine and almost went to jail for getting drunk and getting in a bar fight. He almost blinded the guy because he kept kicking him over and over in the head and face when the guy was already down. She told me about all of the trouble her husband was in and then she says, "But I'm glad that he just drinks and doesn't smoke pot because that's illegal." What the hell? :confused:

When I was little my mom used to always say, "Mary, ppl who smoke dope are dirty hippes and crazies." For years I actually believed that if I smoked pot I'd lose my mind instantaniously.

Only kidding and joking although I do go along with mine who says that I am a lolo kid (lolo in hawaiian means crazy; Pakalolo means "crazy little cigarette") for smoking and that I should grow up, I just tell her to try it and also agree with her that I am a little crazy. She said "smoking pot is bad because its illegal and you'll get caught" and i told her if you do it inside your own home or anywhere else that blocks the view of anyone how are you going to get arrested, especially if you only smoke mj and not sell it, and grow it, some people are just ignorant

Hahaha, yeah, the argument that it's illegal and you'll get caught just doesn't work. I doubt she has any clue how much of this country smokes pot and gets away with it every day. If you're smart about it (and only consume) chances are you won't get busted. Just because the law says you shouldn't do it doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. It's that kind of blind following that keeps the world in the crappy state it's in.

I'm a manic depressive (I think), and am still undecided as to whether dope is doing me any good. That said, I am able to view my life in a calm and objective way, when I'm stoned. Therefore, I would say (as I always do) that I do not see dope (indeed any drug) as a 'solution' to my depression, but more of a 'supressor' of my depressive emotions.

The biggest trap that people fall into, is when they start thinking that smoking dope etc, will make their troubles disappear - they wont, ever.
But, sometimes (SOMETIMES) drugs can help us to evaluate our situations in an objective manner.
I know this from personal experience :)

Do not EVER think that taking drugs is an answer to one's problems, becuase in many cases drugs will either compound those problems, or at the very least, prevent one from addressing them.

Different folks, different strokes, init.

I will always USE dope as a momentary respite from reality, but am mindful of the fact that dope will not solve my issues.
The basic rule is : use the drug, don't let the drug use you.

Also, an interesting statement from JK (Jamiroquai), when asked when he thought that drugs become a problem for someone. He replied:
"You know when you have a drug problem, when your best friends tell you that you have a drug problem - and you don't believe them."

Denial is the first sign :)

the thing is, cannabis has some positive and some negatrive side affects... the problem is, the government thinks (or at least says) that we need to be protected from the negative side affects, because people obviously cant make their own decisions.. that - takin away our right to choose - is worse than any ill affect u may get from smokin weed

I read a while ago that pot does in ure lungs 3 times faster than tabs and that these stoners had the lungs of a 60 year old smoker but that was like years ago. then when i started weed i done loads of research and apparently 90 percent of lung damage is done by tobbaco in the joint so now i jus try to smoke blunts and pipes and hotcans where possible
