my first major run in with the law

short version at the end

so friday after work i went to a small gathering of some friends(only 5 people including me) at a house one of the friends owned, but nobody lived there or had for a few years i guess. but its thier house still. they own it, they are just dumb and let it sit. so we are there, there is a buncha alcohol and about 3 grams of weed(one person wasnt smoking and 2 of the people dont smoke alot so that was all we needed). well i was fucking around and i grabbed a window screen and was gonna try to go down the stairs on it, i get to the landing halfway up the stairs and see a car coming up the driveway. its the cops! so being dumbasses like we are we decided to hide upstairs and wait them out(they cant come in cause its private property) so like 10 min later i sneak to a window and see them at the end of the drive way just standing around, then they walk towards the house. so i go back in the room thinking they are gonna do one last walk around the house looking for people(all our cars were in the driveway). so we are waiting, and still see lights outside and then bam, you hear them try to get in the front door, but thats almost impossible to open its jamed so bad. so a few minutes pass and then another bam and you hear a door opening. so fuck they are now in the house. after listening to them talking shit("you know what this is, a fucking bong!" "i bet were gonna find a whole stash here") then they started to come upstairs so we came out. they brought us downstairs put us against the wall and patted us all down. yelled at us, shined the flashlight in our eyes, then they found out its one of our houses. and suddenly they were a little calmer. then they basically searched the house. and came back like 10 minutes later and said they were gonna be nice. although the whole time they were trying to get us to talk cause nobody had possesion of anything(that they found, my friend had 2 grams in his back pocket that he thought he put away). they were asking who's bubbler it was, not cause they wanted to know, cause it was 'cleaver' haha and then outside he was asking who bought it and nobody said anything and then he was like it was probably shit weed anyways fucking kids.

short version: fuck the police

Yeah, damn the police for protecting our asses and making sure you're okay. :rolleyes:

People say damn the police all the time, but I'd bet you'd be singing a different tune if someone broke into your house a slid a nice piece of cold steel blade in your neck.

i have nothing against police, but what they did was bullshit. the sly techniques they use to incriminate people. like if when a cop pulls you over for speeding and they ask why you were pulled over, if you say speeding its almost impossible to fight in court. but they also illegally entered the house. they had no reason other than that they "thought" nobody owned it.

Someone probably saw a bunch of young kids enter this house and called the cops. What they did was their job. How were they supposed to know one of your friends parents owned the place? They were just doing their job by making sure no one else other than the owners is inside the house. They did nothing wrong, just their job.

I bet it would be different if some homeless people came to that house, pissed, slept and spray pianted inside that house. I bet he wouldn't have minded so much if the cops came then, right?

I'm just saying they didn't do anything against their own power. There could have been a crazy person who shouldn't be there inside the house, destroying it. They didn't know and they were just doing their job. :)

Yeah you can fight that in court. Unless they had a search warrant they can't incriminate you for anything in the house. Just don't say anything unless your lawyer tells you to and you will be safe.

they had to let us off cause they werent supposed to be inside.

and nochowder, i see what you mean and im not pissed that they entered, if i was them, so would i, but the way they treated us was bullshit. i normally have absolutely no grudge with the cops, but i know for a fact that here, in Danbury, ct they are dicks. but thats also why its one of the top 40 safest cities in the usa. in fla they werent so bad, but here they are.

Yeah, some cops can be dicks, but I have run into plenty of chill cops when I should have been busted, but that's in Canada here, so it may be different than there, like a lot of things are.

Anyways, don't let it bother you. They were just being cops, and cops treat us "criminal pot smokers" like dirt. Just be glad you didn't get a charge for paraphanalia or anything. Sounds to me like you guys got off easy, despite them being big meanies to you. ;) Ha ha! I'm just kidding.

ohhh ive deff met some very nice chill cops, and some of the cops there that night were nice as hell, but the one in charge was a dick. i thanked him at the end after he treated us all like meth heads and he gave me a dirty look and said dont talk to me. but yah, we deff got off easy.

Those cops were idiots, plain and simple. They had to have someone on the inside, specifically the owner, LET THEM IN.

The minute they let themselves in, they broke the law, and thus you can fight this in court. I got off an underage alcohol consumption ticket a while back for pretty much the same thing, so please fight those cops and their misuse of power!

They could easily get away with breaking in. All they'd have to say is that they smelled pot, which gives them probable cause. Can you prove they didn't smell pot? No. So they win. This is one of the reasons why I don't think SMELL should be able to be used as probable cause, ever - because it's so incredibly easy for the cops to abuse.

At least you got away with it =]
