"Despite a curfew, Iraqis in Baghdad spilled out into the streets to celebrate the verdict."
Then they went back to killing the people who got rid of Saddam.
What a strange fuckin world...
Personally, I think this is the easy way out for him. I think they should just put him where he feels most comfortable, back in a hole, deep below the earth, secluded from anything and everyoone. Let him go insane and kill himself.
A death sentence will be sweet bliss for him. At least make it a public hanging for the world to see because I'd watch it.
to do worse would put the accuser at the same level as the accused...Quote:

I predict this topic will be moved...
Another example of how people love to just generalize their enemy into a nice, clean, single faced opponent. I hear war supporters all the time who basically think "Terrorists are from the middle east, so any war in the middle east is with terrorists".Quote:

Where's the Iraqis that are fighting insurgents?Quote:

Heh, people still get hanged. At least the world will be rid of him. Not like it'll make a big difference, theres plenty of others out there to take his place.
Here Here. I heard it on the radio today while i was driving back to my house after buying a big mac. I though to myself "are we going to be able to watch this" lolQuote:

I did not watch the trial and have no desire to watch death... Kinda Morbid...
I don't think this is going to turn out to be a good thing..
He should have never been captured in the first place.. but that's just my :twocents:. Not saying that he wasn't a bad guy who didn't do bad things, but look what it has gotten us into in Iraq. I don't think that needs any explanation.

Just an FYI.... and this ones for anyone else who agrees with CityBoy,Quote:

The Shiites are fighting with insurgents along side us and we are actually training more and more of them everyday so that they can successfully take control of their country.
Interesting point. As I saw on CNN this morning, they said the Sunnis made up the largest group protesting Saddam's death penalty, and the Shiites were celebrating it. However, I also heard a week or so ago that the insurgents were made up of two groups: One, mostly Sunnis, which are comprised of ex-Saddam military officers and soldiers..... and the other, mostly shiites, which are battling it out on religious grounds and a religious-based hatred of Western nations. I may have the sunni/shiite factions mixed up though, I don't remember for sure.Quote:

So when is he suppose to be hanged anyways? I couldn't see that anywhere, anyone know?
Thats very true, thats why i didn't wanna point specific fingers because i dont know for sure whose fighting who...:confused:Quote:

I can only think ahead to when im 45-50 years old and looking back on this war... i wonder how the outcome will be..?
what the hell? Go figure a year after we detained and prosecuted him. They decide to execute him during election month? Hmmmm, I believe this man should be punished with death, but I mean since 1988 hes been doing his genocide thing, and now we decide to take action? George W Bush for two terms was the sign of a great downfall...We shall see.

ending his life will do nothing to compensate for those people he so brutally murdered, this execution is 20 years over due, really this does nothing, infact that fucker thinks his "god" is going to give him 50 some odd virgins, he probably cant wait to feel that rope tighten around his cowardly neck.
all and all i will miss saddams appearances on south park, hilarious.
since when did we still hang people????
they should prolly torture him in every way possible....it wont make up for the torture hes put on so many people but damn id love to know hes gettin his.
hes lucky our legal system isnt so much in to the whole torture scene
if anyone gets a video of when this happens.. hook me up.. stupid fucker deserves it
He was tried In an Iraq by Iraqis.....
The law states that it must be carried out in 30 days
Dang me, dang me
They oughta take a rope and hang me
High from the highest tree
Woman would you weep for me.
Killing people solves absolutely nothing. In fact, i predict his death will only make things worse. Those who were loyal to saddam will view him as a martyr. They will fight for their martyred hero saddam. The war in Iraq may get much worse after this.
If anything i think they should make him walk around naked in his hometown and let people throw tomatoes at him. And then of course put him in jail for the rest of his days.
If he was arrested BEFORE the new elected gov. was in place........still no! The "world" didn't want to get dirty so if he wasn't tried by the Iraqi courts it should have been up to the countries involved to decide his fate. Why the hell should most of these dirty food for oil countries have ANY say?Quote:

actually, I think jake has a good point. This should have gone to the hague, if only to reduce the internal pressures in iraq that forced the country to become even more divided along shite/sunni lines.
And while I suppose the death penalty is inevitable, I think a public hanging is completely barbaric. I thought the whole difference between normal people and people like saddam, and the reason why he had to be removed from power, was that saddam apparently got off on the suffering of others and that was wrong.
Turns out the difference is just who sanctions it.
No doubt he deserves to be hanged. They should have done it the minute they caught him.Quote:

Two things that bother me about all this though. The obvious kangaroo court he went through that makes a mockery of the judical system; and secondly, the number of people jerking off to it. Amazing the number of people getting a chubby on the side lines wanting to see someone tortured first. You can tell it has nothing to do with any perverse sense of justice. In a different time they would be the same people with rocks at the stoning of stephen or the crucifixion.
Sure, they tell themselves they have their reasons, but Saddam told himself the same things when he was commiting his atrocities.
