first time grower(12 days into flower w pics)
Hey everyone. I have been posting questions on this site for a couple months during my first ever grow. I finally got a camera, so I decided to put up a few shots of my ladies. In the setup, there are 3 definate females and 3 younger plants we decided to start flowering as well. Let me know what you think of the plants. They are under 300w of HPS with reflectix and good ventilation. I'll post more later especially as things really start to change.

PS. Are all these going to be bud sites?
PPS. Is 11-34-15 a good fert. for flowering? Should I supplement more nitrogen or just be on the lookout for a lack of nitrogen? Is the high phosphorus going to make the soil more acidic than usual?
PPPS. (last question)I accidently lost a fan blade from a falling object(I almost had 4 heart attacks). I figured it wasn't good, but wouldn't be such a big problem. Am I right?
Please ease all my worries.
Thanks everyone!

Yes there's more sites than you have circled. Good work! (except the fan blade part) Afraid I can't answer your soil questions tho.....

The buds are starting to look good. the first picture is one of the top buds, I am concerned with the new leaves. I have highlighted what is going on. Anyone know what that is??? The second is one of the other female's top.
Please helP!!!#@# What is going on? PH problems?!?

I am using 2 150w HPS. The new leaves that are growing out of the top are developing like they are in that picture. None of the other bud sites are like that, yet at least. It's only about 68 degrees in there max. It definately isn't too hot. We'll see how they look today. I will post more pics if they look different. Thanks for the response!

Your nutes are fine and losing one fan aint a prob.

yeah, I have that page as a favorite link because I look at it all the time. I'm going to keep a close eye on it. Figure out whether it is nute burn or PH fluctuation. Thanks for the responses. I'll keep you updated on what I discover.

If it's just at the top you might try raising your light and/or more ventilation

make sure your plant food has trace minerals, and check ph

Hi,
You're doing pretty well for the first grow. A few tips you'd want to consider are:
1) Next time you grow in soil you want to use a 50:50 mixture of soil and perlite. Yep, 50%:50%. In growing weed you want to keep as much oxygen in the soil as you can and want to have a light fluffy soil mixture so that you get rapid and explosive root formation.
2) Next time you want to buy a few products such as; a part A nutrient, part B nutrient, a root stimulator, a flowering booster, some acid for adjusting pH, and a micronutrient solution. Cannabis is not like other plants and you SHOULD NOT really use ferts that you can buy at your local supermarket. The ferts you use with weed are not the X:X:X type. B'cuzz is one brand name (what I use) but there are many more and you should use what you find works for you.
3) Get a pH meter and an EC meter. EC means the amount of disolved solids in your water and pH is the acidity/alkalinity of the watering solution.
4) Feed from bottom and let the top of the soil remain dry. This encourages roots to dive down and out from the stem.
5) Buy a flushing solution and during the last 10-14 days before harvest flush with pure water for the first 3-4 days and then with the flushing solution for the rest.
Now I know that this sounds like a lot of kit to purchase, but the solutions are only used in quantities of 1-2ml per litre anyways so a $15 bottle of A & B & Boost will last you a couple of harvests with the amount you're growing. And it should be noted that it will pay for itself the first harvest after you buy them (you'd get twice or three times the harvest!!!) Also remember that you've done a good job so far but that there's always room for improvement and that this will pay BIG dividands later.
DO NOT use Miracle Gro (sorry all those who are, but you should all know better by now if you've been reading the posts on this board and other weed sites.) It might work wonders on Roses and such flowers but then you're not really wanting to smoke those are you and apart from the fact that the nutrients are in the TOTAL WRONG quantities for weed, they are all chemical and not natural products at all and you're smoking that shit!!!)
Don't worry about the fan blade for now but you should get a new fan for next time. We use fans (oscillating) for two reasons; 1) it keeps the air moving, 2) it keeps the plants moving which forces them to grow big and strong.
Listen to people like Zander and also to experienced growers.
Keep up the good work, don't tell ANYONE that you're growing (just show up with pot for them 'out of the blue' and tell them you got it from someone else)
Well done!
Peace,
The Fr33kMan

PS: The reason that your top leaves are looking like that is that you are using the wrong nutes (dispite comments to the contrary) and that you missing nutes. Don't panic too much at the moment but now (during this growing) would be the time to stop what you're feeding them with and go and buy a part A, part B and an S.A (micronutrients). Flush the soil for a week first and then start to feed in the amounts on the bottles and you should be fine.
Many people like to talk about nutrients and don't really know what they're doing with them but growers like myself who grow commercially know better.

Doing the veg. stages nitrogen should be used in higher doses, but doing flowering its best to use less nitrogen in more Phosphate for a super bloom. I will be using "Green Light" superbloom 12/55/6. If anyone disagree let me know what you think

hey fr33kman, thanks for all the comments and advice. I have read a lot and I am still confused as shit about nutrients. I can never find a straight answer about where to get good nutes and names of organic kinds. I will def. do 50/50 soil/perlite next time. can you elaborate on part a, part b nutrients? Sorry, I am a nutridiot. I will check on B'cuzz. What is the best way to water from the bottom? Thanks sweet candy I am using a 16-35-16, and that is going well. I need to find out what these part a, part b, and the micronutrients. Is a hydroponic store a good place to find nutrients for a soil grow, because I can't find too many good garden stores in my area. Thanks for all the advice and talk!

Here are some pictures of my ladies. I circled the 2nd and 4th pictures of the leaves. They are growing like stubs almost. Is this normal. It looks as if one of my lights is producing more heat than the other. I adjusted the light today. could it be something else?
Thanks!

he's now at day 23, babe...
NO trace elements. saw that somewhere back there.
you DON'T need additional nit. infact, what your using may be too much... i use green light's super bloom...
there is NOTHING WRONG WITH MG, as long as you use the kind formulated for garden vegetables, with NO trace elements! i use 24-8-16 all purpose miracle gro for veg, and it MIRACALY GROWS!!!. hell, i've even used mg 15-30-15 all purpose during flower on previous outdoors, with excellent results. guys, please try having exp using a product b4 you hack on it...
your plants are fine babe, now be patient, leave them alone a bit, and wait, you'll have an excellent new year...:) you are worrying too much. just stick to your current schedule, you're doing nothing wrong.
love, brooke:p

first time grower(12 days into flower w pics)
i heard the mg 15-10-15 is OK with added micro nutes and proper flush and at the same time i heard its shitty at least from the pros perspective I'll ride with the pros, they no mg ferts

first time grower(12 days into flower w pics)
thanks yall. I think the problems I was having was heat not nutrients. I think they are getting all the nutes they need. I am just going to keep a close eye.
Thanks Brooke.

do you know what kind of strains they are? One looks very very much like Alaskan Thunderfuck (madanoosk or whatever)

Yeah, same here. who doesn't?!

first time grower(12 days into flower w pics)
Brooke,
Before YOU slag off people who have a lot of experience growing cannabis, find out if they have used MG first. Yes, I've done trials with it. I grew 4 plants with veg miracle grow and switched to flowering MG during flowering. At the same time I grew 300+ plants of the same species using my normal nutrients. The 'soil' was 100% coir (Coconut fibre containing no nutrients by itself, very light and airy stuff, great for growing[am now a hydro grower but still use coir for a few species]). The species was AK-47. The lights were 8 foot HO fluros for seedling stages, 400w MH lamps for the grows and 1000w HPS lamps for the flowing stages. Each MG plant was placed into a different grow room (to negate the effects of poorer conditions in one room). The yield off the MG plants were average of 24 grams. The average of the normal plants (grown with A/B, root stimulator, veg booster, bloom booster and PK was 182 grams per plant.
Now, I'm not a math genius, but that seems like alot less for the MG plants.
You can use WHATEVER you want to use. Not my plants, not me having to smoke it. But I think the numbers speak for themselves. The MG plants did not smoke as well (burn was harsh, high was not as good) and I ended up giving it all to my cousin to smoke. Personally, I'm in it for the money as well as the smoke, so 182 grams versus 24 grams, and a nice smoke with a good stong high seems to me to be the way to go.
I'll send your comment back to you and challange you to try cannabis specifically formulated nutrients before you comment on which is better. Do a test, you'll be impressed!
Not trying to slag you off, not trying to make you upset, but I know at least two dozen commercial growers in NL. Not a SINGLE one uses MG for nutrients and all would problably laugh up a lung if anyone suggested it. We use good nutrients formulated for MJ because we want high yield, strong THC content and a good burning smoke. NONE!, Absolutley NONE of the smoke you buy in coffeeshops in Amsterdam has been grown using Miracle Grow.
The nutrients we suggest and use ourselves are not expensive and available at any good hydroponics shop (yes, even the soil nutrients) or available via mail order.
Peace and love!
