my second closet growing attempt!

hi all fucked up the first time. but this time things are lookin 10 times better. iput the seeds in a towel and all 12 sprouted so i planted them the next day now i got some sprouts growing its all awesome. i will post some picks soon if possible. but i still have some questions.

i have some plastic wrap over them right now so not to lose to much moisture how long should i keep it over them?

i have 4 cfl's wich seems to be doin alright my temp is between 28 and 30 degrees celcius my humidity is between 25 to 30 percent. is this good or should i lose some cfl's? i water 1 time a day with no nutrients or anything is this good or should i water less? when should i add nutrients?

how long do i have before they start to stink? and what type of lights should i put in for flowering? cause i have to put them into the closet soon.

oh and i have a fan ready to go but how long before i should turn it on?

Depends on how big the pots are you should let them almost dry out between watering with a small pot and seedlings you may have to water everyday I read somewhere that you should pick up your pots when they are dry then again right after you water so you can get to know how much water your plants have

k its been 4 days since i planted my seeds and i have 9 out of the 12 seeds are showing good growth. should i keep watering the other 3 pots or should i try re germinating them? cause they havent sprouted or nothing yet.

other than that things look good some of the plants are really tall already like 3 inches i am shocked. ill try to post some picks soon.

I beleive tin foil is baaaad, maybe not so much with CFL's but I dont really kno.

You gotta put the lights closer. Those plants will topple soon unless you stake them.

k guys here are my girls 7 days old. just bot some nutrients 10-15-10 gonna start givin em that. probably gonna turn fan on soon too. any suggestions?

did you buy shultz 10-15-10, and are you going to keep the tin foil up?

My suggestion would be to not give them that nutrient. Wait untill they get bigger and stronger. 3 or 4 weeks unless they show you signs of needing the Nutes.

start mixing the nutes at half strength as well. work your plants gradually into nutes as they need them.

Also since your plants stretched so much you should fill the pots up right to the brim with soil. I notice dyou have the room. This will help them from falling over and bending.

Get those cfls closer 2 inches just watch your heat. The sooner you replace that foil with milar or white plastic you will have happier plants..

k im gonna fill the pots up the rest of the way tonight. and yes that is schults nutrients. and i will take it easy on the nuts i think. but im probably gonna leave the foil up for this grow cause its to much hassell to take all that shit out. but ill change it for next grow. um will cfl's work for flowering or is there a type of light that is readily available i shoukld look for? how long do i have before i should seperate males and females? and how long before they start to smell? cause i have more work to do to closet to get it ready for smell.

They will start to smell probably in a week or two. For flowering you will want to get a light that has a 2700k color temperature, as this wavelength encourages flowering. You can use warm white CFLs, or a high pressure sodium lamp. The HPS will be your best bet, but expect to pay between $100-200 on a good hps light.

how are you dealing with the smell?

ya i bought a bathroom fan and i plan on hooking it up and conecting it to the ventilation pipe that goes right threw that closet and out the top of my house. i think it should work good. i have a fairly big closet now im not sure how long i should veg for cause i have no real hight restrictions but i dont want to grow for 6 months before i get any smoke. how long should i veg for and flower for. so that i get a fair bit of smoke but not take forever either? and im not sure if i should fim, or prune, or just let nature take its coarse cause i really dont want to fuck it up.

i wish i was able to grow more then one plant....but in the furture...big grow 8 pounds of light

What light cycle are they on right now? You won't know their sex until you froce flowering (change light cycle to 12/12) or let them get fully mature during veg which can't take 5 to 6 weeks on a 24/0 or 18/6 light cycle and you see pre-flowers. Your plants look really good for only 14 days of veg, if you have the space in your cab, you should let them VEg for 2 more weeks then flower them. If height becomes a problem, which always does, you can them LST them uring flowering which will then give your plants more light to their bottom leaves and they will have more buds sites that will grow bigger then usual. k i no i needed new lights for flowering so i bought a 150 watt high pressure sodium. and a big 40=150 watt cfl that gives 2600 lumens will these work? should i use both or just one? and i also bought a bar floresent light fixture should i just use the tube thats in it or by one of them grow lux tubes to put in? i cant wait to find out how many females i get im so excited. its like playing god and them u get a whole bunch of free weed lol its awesome. and i hear u can get some bud out of the males is that true?

k guys and gals here are my pictures of day 20. everything seems like its goin well i just cant wait tell there ready to flower. just how much longer do u all think i should wait? i was hopin that maybe i could start flowerin in like 2 more weeks or so. does that sound about rite or should i wait longer to get a suficiant amount of bud. the plants im growin are white widows cuase i hear its really good weed. any feed back would be awesome.

do i need a reflector to use my hps or a shield or somthin or can i just plug her in?

and its day 2o should i start low stress treatment yet or wait more?

What all did you get when you bought the hps? It needs a ballast...I hope you got that much with it right? A reflector will help distribute the light downward better than without but depending on the design, they can trap & hold heat too.

Your plants are looking great...if you wait to flower for another two weeks, you will be in good shape...good strong stems to support the massive buds you'll be sprouting. :thumbsup:

k man all i got is the bulb what is this ballest thing and where do i get it at? and i dont know what's wrong with plants but some of the bottom leaves are a little droopy on some and some are a little discolered kinda a browny color but only on the bottom leaves the tops are perfect and its only on a couple plants and when do u think i should transplant or should i? i have them in 4 inch pots right now and i do have 6 inch ones here or should i go bigger or should i wait and seperate the males and females first?? and when i do seperate them what should i do with the males? i heard u can get a bit of weed from the males but do i need to set up another closet or somthin?

A ballast is required for ignition and to provide enough current at glow discharge voltage for a HID lamp, either metal halide or hps. Does your bulb have a larger, mogel socket on it or a standard medium?

You might check the place you got the bulb at for a ballast or they have them here: http://www.atlaslightingsupply.com/HPSballastwLamp.html in kits for about $50. You can search the forums here and find info on building your own....there's hundreds of threads here by people who bought standard 150w hps fixtures w/built-in ballasts for around $75 and adapted them for small grow areas.

Sorry I can't help with plant problem diagnosis.
Forget the males, just thank them & kill em. Later on you may want some to breed but that will be down the road.

You want to transplant right about now....actually might be alittle late in that respect, but no harm done.
the longer you can wait till switching from VEG. to Bloom the better off if you have the room!...know what I mean?
Sounds like you just bought the bulb...a replacment bulb. You'll need socket commonly called (Mogul socket), ballest...and in most cases the ignitor, and cap. are already wired. If it is of that type, check with an electrical store, lighting store, ect. Ask for these products over the phone...don't make the drive if ya don't have too:D
also if you go that route, learn to read the diagram on the ballest for wiring.

my plants are all droopy and turning yello in spots i cant figure out wats wrong maybe they got nute burn, or maybe the fan is drying out pots to fast and i aint waterin enugh?im not sure. um thanks for the feedbadk and ill transplant asap.

I think you need 3 or 7 gallon pots if want a good root ball,for the flowering.
Repot them now before flowering and the plants will love you and get you alot
more bud too.

Back off on the next watering. Let them dry out real good on this next one.
While your at it, put the pots on something that will allow the bottom to breath alittle. When you transplant...(which also needs to be done remember), add some lava rock, or the like on the bottom before you add your natural medium (peat, Perlite, sand, ect.). This allows for better drainage. You prolly just got done watering your plants I assume? But do remember to clean up the bottom of the floor. Don't leave any freestanding water around, dead leaf matter, ect.

Oz. of prevention, is an Oz. of bud....or something like that;)

k i plan to transplant tomoro night and things are lookin better except for a little nut burn. i think. i hope they gonna be alright. no more droopy leafs anyhow. and it looks like some shoots or somthin is sproutin and how do u tell the sex of a plant? and can u tell the sex from any of these picks.

Thats your side growth starting to kick in. the lower half of the plant will start to grow out, trying all it can to catch up to the lights. Basicly it's just your plant about to hit another life cycle...which their are many.

I can't see sign's of sex yet with those photo's. thier clear enough, but I think it's still to soon. If your side growth has not kicked in till now, then I'd say roughly another 1 and half weeks left till you'd be able to notice anything. Keep in mind though at anytime, the plant could just start to go insanly mad with a growth spurt!
In either case you still have abit of time to wait.

k i transplanted 4 days ago into 6 inch pots it was defanitly needed. my plants are doin much better. do u think ill need to transplant into bigger pots again before im done? and there is a few brown dead leaves on some of the plants would it be a good idea to cut these off now that there dead?
and i havent given any nutes since the nute burn a week ago . i use this schultz liquid plant food. 10-15-10. should i be givin them nutes again or just lay off for a while? ill have some new picks for u all shortly.

I think that if you repot into 3 gallon pots before you start flowering, you won't have root bound plants. Transplanting while they're making buds might affect the size of your harvest. Just a thought. :thumbsup:

^.....what e man said, you can start flowering now, but you will want to transplant into a 3 gallon pot...a good rule is 1foot plant=1gallon pot.
