I suggest a 21 and older lounge

No, I'm not talking about a pervert forum. I'm talking about a forum where adults can discuss topics of general interest without being swamped by the juvenile blurbs of highschool kids who should be doing homework instead of smoking pot.

I would even go so far as to suggest a zero-tolerance policy on minors anywhere on this site. Allowing kids on here only illustrates the opposition's point that pot smokers are irresponsible. Indeed, we truly are irresponsible if we encourage 15 year old kids to get high.

Keep minors and marijuana separated, for their sake, for our sake, and for the sake of the cause of decriminalization. The voters will not respect us until we can show that we are respectable.

Ban the 15 year olds? I think it is better for them to have a place to find out the truth about whats going on. They wouldn't be here if they weren't already smoking or planning to smoke. May as well provide them with information so they don't get themselves killed dealing with shady people. I will say you sould be 18 before you begin smoking, but come on. Kids are going to be using it so why shouldn't we be allowed to inform them?

Stoners who think that it's bad for minors to smoke are like adult christians who tell children premarital sex is a sin then go sleeping around themselves. If somethings "bad" it's generally bad for all ages. If it's "good", then it's generally "good" for all ages.

What makes it OK for you to smoke cannabis but not for a 17 year old?

Look I drink too and I don't really think 17 year olds should drink. Some things are better left until you reach a certain age of maturity. I drank and smoke before I was 18, but it doesn't change my feelings on kids should not be doing these things. Why should there be an exception here. It is illigal for a 17 year old to smoke and drink. So why shouldn't we hold that to cannabis. Assuming cannabis were legal, do you think there would be no age restriction?

You forget that when you turn 18, someone hands you a book with all of the answers of life in it. You'll always make the right decision, everytime. Nobody over 18 or 21 has ever shown that they, too, are not yet mature enough to recreationally partake in mind-altering substances.

In reality though, I think there are some members that are too young to be here. I judge this by the maturity in their posts, though, not their actual age. There are plenty of people over the legal age that are still too young, and I'm sure you can all agree.

I generally agree but must point out that i have not found that we get harrased by kids every time we post, but, yes i think we should have an "adult forum" but people will just lie about there age then, won't they?

No, but an effort can at least be made. I've already seen many posts where kids have freely admitted their ages, and I've seen many personal pics posted which clearly display that the poster is a minor.

In such situations, they should be tossed from the site immediately.

And whenever you read something along the lines of "my parents want to drug test me" or "should I smoke at home" then I think you can safely assume they are kids.

First off, there is really no way to do an age verification. Next, while dealing with members, I've found that there are some of the kids in here that act more mature than the adults.

There is an "ignore" feature so if there is anybody that is getting on your nerves, feel free!

It's not about maturity, it's about responsibility. Adults have a responsibility to set rules for minors and to enforce them.

When you associate marijuana with minors, you only reinforce the stereotype of dangerous potheads getting kids hooked on drugs. Whether it's true or not, that is how it is percieved, and you need to understand that if you ever want marijuana to be legalized.

Everyone on this forum is actually 18+.
Those who say different about themselves or others are just immersed in a role-playing fantasy summoned from the depths of their rebellious memories.
It's a simple game really.

Personally, If I have children, I'm going promote maturity and responsibility in them. So, when they become responsible teenagers, I'll have the choice of introducing them safely and securely to marijuana. Or I can just wait till they're 18 becuase the rest of the conservative world tells me to.
In the meantime, I'm sure they'll have inhaled so many
toxic fumes/vapors from poorly crafted plastic pen pipes,
that any introduction I give at the society-defined time of magical maturation
will be wasted in a fit of coughing and trip to the emergency room.

Maybe if there was somewhere my child could have gone to learn...

I don't know of any realistic way to verify age, so this can't work. I mean, send them a scan of your photo ID? How do they know it's yours? Credit card? There'd be some serious security issues with any age verification...especially on a cannabis-related site. I won't be sending anyone a copy of my photo ID or a credit card number with my name on it or my social security number, that's for sure.

And besides, Psycho4Bud is totally right - there are kids who are extremely mature, and there are adults who are extremely immature. Why punish the former to benefit the latter?

the issue regarding age of participants, at least in my concerns, is the 'legality' and 'penalty' aspects ... as everyone should already know, crimes involving adults with minors carry much harsher penalties, and are pursued much more vigorously ... nobody much cares about adult marijuana users, BUT, throw the kids into that mix, and you have serious charges being leveled ... I can have sex with my 25 year old neighbor (except she'd never let me :D ), but, let me approach a 16-year old, and my tired old ass is in jail for a loooong time ... :( ... makes no difference to the judge and jury if the rules are wrong, the outcome won't be pretty for the defendant ... I've said it before: if and when, this website gets taken down, the presence of the underage participants will be the primary target of the prosecutors, they're gonna 'protect them chilluns' .... word. :smokin:

cannabis is illegal if a 17 year old is too young to smoke it , than a 30 year old is too old to smoke it.

ive never talked to a police officer, been to jail been on the ankle braclet, been on probation.

you have a lot to learn about how Federal prosecuters 'go after' people ... I personally have experienced this years ago, in outlaw biker gangs (another life) ... for instance, the R.I.C.O. act, 'conspiracy' legal charges ... "conspiracy to engage and encourage illegal drug cultivation, use, and distributing", and the biggie "contributing to the delinquency of minors, by encouraging drug use", etc ... the list of ridiculous charges goes on and on ... try reading more of your newspapers, stuff like that is there every day ... makes no difference in court who has the facts, it's who is on the winning side of the case ... testify against a cop in court sometime, a cop that's lying thru his teeth, and see who the judge and jury believe, him or you ... ask Tommy Chong what the bastards are capable of (he just finally got out of prison for selling bongs from his online website) ... hmmm ... but, "you can buy bongs legally all over the country, they can't legally do that to Tommy" ... they could, they did, and that sucks ... life ain't fair ... :smokin:

Still, this is just a forum. Who are they going charge? The website owner?
What did he do? He provided a forum. I don't see him personally advocating marijuana.
And it's not like they're going to round up every adult who posts "I love pot we should all smoke pot" .
Nah, the moment they get away with charging a website owner for contributing to the delinquency of minors through a forum which he has almost no contact with, is the moment the entire internet is ...what's the word... ........ uh.... ruined, I guess?
