Im a Marine Diesel Engineer, a Specialist in Marine Diesel Engines.
Retired software developer, age 42. Sorta idly looking at second career possibilities, but I dunno, relaxing all day is kinda, well, relaxing. Heh. But I have always wanted to give writing a shot, leave something with my name on it for future generations, soooo...who knows.
Hmmm, lets see, I'm an ex-cook, ex-janitor, ex-warehouse worker....ha ha! What pathetic jobs and life I lead. :p Right now, my head is being pulled in several directions. Music is where I want to be at, but nothing doing, so right now, nothing.

Wow I'm out of breath now. I'm currently doing reasearch for a book idea my girlfriend came up with. Hopefully we will get to writing it soon.
You have to be SO smart to teach philosophy nt the bulshit "philosophy" that most people think about.Quote:

um lets see, in the last year I've worked at circuit city, worked in a warehouse gathering seashells to ship out to home decorators, souviner stands, etc... and now I'm a cook in a restuarant. I'm also majoring in music.
I'm a welder-electrician-mechanic....in a few years ill be a mechanical engineer. I did 4 years in the army as a explosive ordnance disposal tech also.
i just got a job at hmv(cd store):D im pretty psyched about starting there
I'm now working as a Computer Dismantling Technician. :D They give it a fancy name, but all you do is take the components out of computers for recycle use. Printers, same thing, but the moniters, if they are completly shot, we get to smash the glass out with a nice sledge. It's pretty much bashing the shit out of old computers for not a bad wage. :p Good way to get frustrations out and my long hatred relationship with old computers that refuse to work.
That'd be a sweet job. perfect job for a stoner. :thumbsup:Quote:

i'm looking to apprentice as an electrician 1 or 2 years from now, and i've heard working in the army for a bit can be rewarding with the way the [canadian, not sure about american] government treats it's workers.. how was the experience for you and do you have any advice or anything for someone in my position?Quote:

I would much rather be in the Canadian army than USA, I don't know too much about the Canadian army though. Plan ahead and know your goals...don't waste time on shit you don't really need to further yourself. Don't start a degree or career until you know what you want to do.
the thing is in Ontario there is a major shortage of trades people so Electricians are basically payed most of their college tuition fees and automatically started at between $15,000 to $30,000 annually to basically learn while your peers are having to pay that much per year to GET to learn their professions. i've heard joining the army is rewarding for people in your field because if you stay for 10 to 15 years with them then you can have the opportunity to have a full pension and retire at age 40...which definately sounds sweet to me.
to get my facts straight i have this conference thing at my school the night of November 30th, the only problem is I think I am in Montreal at that time. hopefully not
