I wouldnt go and cut my plants top off if I were you cause it puts alot of stress on them :( if you want a short bush you should lst(low stress training) them which could create many bud sites instead of just 2 while keeping them short:)
i topped my plants and it didnt bother them, they just grew 2 more stems they are now 2 weeks from harvest.:D
Topping can stress.. The whole point of topping is to increase yield, it will split 1 node into 2.Quote:

Ok heres a few of mine that i topped a while ago now theyve also been through a little lst... anyway like zandor said top at 4th or 5th node, that explains itself..
Q1 It isnt the exact stage but you can see in one of the pics where i have cut it..
Q2 A plant will take time to heal and shoot out 2 new nodes this can take anywhere from a few days to a week or more depending on how much light your plants are getting.. i would wait a few weeks after topping to flower to let some of the undergrowth from lower in the plant catch up with the top..
Q3 It depends on the strain some can double in bud mass others will stay the same..

It seems like people cant chose between LST and toping but I will go with toping because itā??s less work.

If you grow Blueberry without topping you won't achieve maximum bud production.. so im guessing it would be a good idea
Yes, blueberry is a good strain to top, but remember not evey strain reacts well to topping, so make sure you read up on a strain before you go pinching it. And thats another thing, dont cut it with scissors, as this will stress it for no reason, you need to get your finger nails and pinch so that the stem heals quickly.
You'll get 2 main colas instead of one, and if you train the plants you can get up to 5 or more colas.

i myself belive in topping and l.s.t both . i'm mean to my hoes but they love me for it . under 2 - 1000w. hps w/ only 6 girls in waterfarms from seed vegged for 1 1/2 mos. i average 16-17 onions per girl . no pics. sorry .
i top once about 18 in. tall . just started a blueberry gro myself .
Topping or Pinching as I call it, same difference so doesn't matter which you call it, well it's easy anyway;)
Just be carefull you don't take anything off the two diagonal shoots that will form the two new main stems. I always just pinch off the new growth at the very top with my fingernails, but if you're not used to doing it I can reccomend a pair of small sharp nail sisscors.
How long before you can go 12/12 after pinching ? ............ that really is up to you, I usually wait about 4-5 days before inducing flowering.
How much will it increase the yeild ? ................. well it doesn't double it or anything like that, but it is worth doing ;)

I have grown DJ Short's Blueberry for a couple years straight. It was an excellent tasting and potent smoke but yeild was small to medium. If I didn't top it she would yeild terribly small. With clipping and FIM I was able to increase the yeild considerably. I usually vegged for 5 weeks and budding time was only seven weeks. I usually got consistantly 2 to 3 ounces each plant. To put that in perspective, my AK47 strain done the same way yeilds me 6 to 8 ounces. Hope this helps.
