sun worship

this is my first thread in the spirituality board
I've begun worshipping the sun for a number of reasons. First of all, unlike some other gods I could mention, I can see the sun. It's there for me every day. And the things it brings me are quite apparent all the time: heat, light, food, a lovely day. There's no mystery, no one asks for money, I don't have to dress up, and there's no boring pageantry. And interestingly enough, I have found that the prayers I offer to the sun and the prayers I formerly offered to "God" are all answered at about the same 50-percent rate.

In the afterlife there will be no need for the Sun. The Sun you worship will be destroyed. The Sun will pass but his word will be forever. :thumbsup:

Everyone is always looking for proof that God exists but they choose to close their eyes to the things that are. Study the sun and you will learn more about God himself. But then again, most of you guys will say that the Sun just landed there by luck right?

Is it fair to say that without the Sun we would all die?

One more thing,

why are you preaching at me? ive got my own damn religion thank-you-very-much! how come cavemen didnt believe in god? how come they worshipped the sun instead? to them god didnt exist, belief in god is just a more evolved form of sun worship

I don't want you to be repetitive if you've covered this with others, but I would like to hear about how you feel the sun came about? If it's a long story, just keep it short and I will get the jist of your belief. I don't think science is luck, but rather the operation of God.

Speaking of the sun, how come man is only on the earth? Oh yeah, it's cause that's where the bible says God put man. Obviously man would not survive at a different distance from the Sun. Man living on another planet is like my faith in God to some, I'll believe it when I see it. Pass That Shit Bogart :dance:

.............im not even going to delve into how hypocritical this statement is besides: you havent seen god yet you believe in him, you havent seen man on other planets, so you dont believe there is. i rest my case
as for the bible, you believe in the bible because the bible tells you that the bible is true..............
if i wrote a very lengthy book detailing how the worlds leaders are a bunch of giant hyper-intelligent grasshoppers and some where in that book i wrote "every word in this book is true" would you believe it? why not, the bible does basically the same thing yet you believe every word in that, why dont you believe in the grasshoppers? could you prove they werent grasshoppers? i rest my case

God put man on the earth. Find me man elsewhere? Every word of God is pure. If you wrote a book that wasn't inspired by God, I'm sure I would see right through it. Don't mistake me for a fool. How would you explain man only being upon the earth? Where did the sun come from?

I'm sorry to deprive you of some intellectual discussion PTS, but I'm afraid I'll have to do just that. I've just grown too weary of the god debate. I could pick apart your logic, I could argue against your arguments for pages upon pages upon pages. But it never has a conclusion, never a changed mind or a breakthrough of some sort. There aren't enough numbers to count how many pages I've debated this through, I couldn't possibly tell you how many times I've had to debunk the same pieces of flawed logic. But time and time again, it's always the same when I finally deconstruct a flawed argument; either the opponent goes into a hysterical rant and tells me how I'll be judged and see he's right etc etc etc..... or I simply get no response, only to see the same flawed argument made once again in another thread.

I'm not saying you would do this PTS, I actually find you to be one of the more intelligent and respectable members of this community. But I've done this too long, met too much frustration at unbreakable ignorance, and I'm just too exhuasted with this infinitely-inconclusive argument to be bothered anymore. (well, I'm very sick and sleep deprived right now too, maybe thats why I feel even more exhausted than usual).

Rather than an argument, I'm going to offer you some advice as a friend. Turn back. Don't waste hours upon endless hours trying to persuade others to your vewipoint, because it simply won't happen. Right or wrong, just take whatever good you get from your faith and use it to improve your life to the fullest extent possible.

i cant prove god wrong, how can i prove something wrong if it doesnt exist? its up to you to prove its true, wheres you corraberating evidence to support the bible, the bible is the evidence that the bible is true, it proves itself right, how is that possible? it cant be possible, show me some corraberating evidence to support the bible and god and i MIGHT believe you

I respect that. Thanks for the explanation. I haven't been involved in these threads as long as you have and I'm already feeling the way you do. After a while the desire to debate fades away. I was genuienly interested in what you thought about the sun. That's why I asked you to give me a short version of your belief. I'm gonna be missing in action for a few weeks and then I don't plan on being back on here nearly as often as I have been. Take care....:thumbsup:

No offense intended but your logic is extremely flawed.

The Earth revolves around the sun, we're in the 21st century, this is common knowledge now.

The people that wrote the bible believed that the sun revolved around the earth. Only heretics believed that the earth was round and revolved around the sun, its pretty funny how the heretics ended up being right.

There is life on earth and no other planet in our solar system because of the way earth is situated in the sun's gravitational pull. It has nothing to do with luck. This planet was suitable for life and over billions of years microscopic organisms evolved into what we see here today.

To MastaChronic: I've always believed that the sun was a more logical thing to worship than any sort of god.:thumbsup:

Mad props to Dev, but I'm more than willing to deconstruct this argument. Hopefully you won't prove him right about going hysterical afterwards...

This seems to be a common thread among the intelligent design crew, to argue how life exists within an oh so fragile set of parameters, and if one was just slightly different, life wouldn't exist at all. Hence; intelligent designER.
But the flip side of this of course is, if these parameters hadn't happened to correspond exactly the way they had, life wouldn't exist to speculate about its creation in the first place.
Life coming into being is one in a million, or maybe even greater odds. But despite the odds, in a fair lottery there's still a winner.
