My First Bong

Hey guys, just got my first bong today (I've only taken one hit from it so far, never any bong hits before), and I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong.

I light the weed, and I inhale to fill the chamber with smoke, with my thumb over the hole. Now even though I have my thumb on the hole, I'm getting a lot of smoke in my mouth and some in my lungs, and the chamber isn't filling up very well. Can someone give a newbie some advice on how to fill that sucker?

Are you keeping the lighter lit while your sucking up the smoke ?
Try inhaling a lot stronger ?

I keep the lighter lit until the weed lights up and will have no problem burning on it's own.

I feel if I inhale stronger, more of the smoke will go into my mouth and lungs before filling up the chamber. I feel like such a tool :P

Hmmm... Don't see what the problem is. I always try to inhale very slowly until I reach maximum intake (including chamber) and then shotgun it. Maybe your inhaling way too fast.

keep inhalin till it fills, dont worry about shit entering ur lungs- you want that


then when it fills cover the top wit ur free hand, enjoy the first hit

then release the carb and clear it in one swift intake

Haha yes I have water in the bong, I'm not that dense. It seems that I'm inhaling too quickly tho. I'll give it a shot tonight, inhaling very slowly to fill the chamber. Thanks guys, I'll let you know the results ;)

yeah . i try to fill the chamber as slowly as possible, getting some in your lungs while filling the chamber is normal though.

If you are indeed doing everything right, your bong is probably not air tight.

To test it take your empty bong and cover every hole on it with your mouth and hands, then blow

If you cant exhale into the bong, its airtight, if you can, its garbage and time for a new bong, or rubber grommet seals

Instead of inhaling deeply from the lungs while lighting the weed up, I kind of suck it and some smoke goes in my mouth, but not into my lungs, wait till the chamber fills up, and the inhale as I release the carb. More of a headrush that way :)

is it air tight?

Yep, it is air tight, I just checked.

I tried again last night and I had some success a few times, but most times it didn't work properly. I got mashed as hell, but still, I want to be ble to do proper bong hits.

The hole from the weed container is quite large though (I think). Maybe this is the problem?

you do have a bowl on that right? not just the hole for the slide piece?

I have a glass sliding peice and the bong..... it seems that i need a bowl haha. What should i ask for when I head to the shop tomorrow, just ask for a "bowl"?

Your glass slider piece shuld have a bowl on it to put the weed in :/

By bowl, do you mean just shaped so that it can hold weed? If so, then yeah, I have a bowl. But it has quite a big hole in it, I have to use a decent sized nug so that it doens't fall in.

Remember guys, I've never used a bong in my life, I don't know what all the parts are :P

get us a picturreee!!! we will be able to help. make sure you are shredding teh weed with your fingers(or whatever) first and then packing it into the bowl(not too hard)

Ohhhhhh yeah You need a Bowl. not a pipe, a Bowl-peice for the bong.
You have the slider, but not the bowl. See, you put the bowl (the bowl has a bowl shaped top, and you put a nug in the bowl, and it shouldn't be a huge opening, nothing should fall through even if it's shredded) in the slider, take a hit to fill the chamber, then "pull" the bowl out of the slider, which mimics a carb.
Bowls are cheap. Just gotta make sure it fits your bong.

well there shouldn't be tooo much smoke cus its a bong and all, but hey if it gets you stoned wuts the big whoop?

Yea, with some bongs (Your bong sounds like mine), it's got a fairly large hole at the bottom of the bowl-piece.

Make sure to break off a pretty good-sized piece of bud and use that to block the bottom, then fill and pack it from there. And do realize that the weed needs to light up more and longer than a normal bowl to get a good hit.

When i smoke a bong i smoke like a loco .... it dont matter, just get ALL the smoke in your lungs and your good

Sorry for the delay guys, but here you can see the two peices, and how big the hole is, I'd say it's about 1/4 of an inch thick inside the slider.

yo nice bong. i think i remember having those same ideas of troubles when i started off.

a good idea would be to keep the lighter going for a little while, just because the bud is still lit doesnt mean anything.

and about the size of the whole, thats actually quite nice. just throw a bud in there, and then you dont have to worry about blowing out the ash (it'll just suck through).

I got it working :) Basically inhaling very slow and keeping the lighter lit seems to get it working. I do think the hole in the slider is too big, tho. I'm not sure how I'll fix that.

buy a new one if the hole is too big...their only like 8$ by me
