I need a recommendation from a true connoisseur...

Hi guys and gals! :dance: I'm a brand new member here and am new to growing. I want to start growing very soon, as my 'reliable resources' have become a little less than reliable these days, and I am asking for a good seed recommendation. I know the seedbank sites, so I'm not asking that seemingly same old question, but I want to find a particular strain that will suite me well. I consider myself a medicinal smoker although I dont live in a state that allows marijuana for medicinal use (YEEHAW GEORGIA!). It helps better than anything I've ever taken (I could provide a fairly long list) for my generalized anxiety disorder, irrital bowel syndrome, and insomnia.

So here's what I'm lookin for:

A fairly easy to grow plant that does well indoors (closet). Harvest at about 8wks - 10wks with a decent yield. Although I don't have too many "smell factor" worries to be concerned with, I really dont want something that's too skunky or "weedy" that will smell throughout the whole house. AND a plant that is good for anxiety, creativity (I'm a musician), but doesnt have a stony, brain-dead high...more of a social high. I know all this sounds VERY particular, but I really want to make the right choice...you know how it is when it's your own plant, right? Soooo, any suggestions?

sounds like you want my favorite plant ... I must sound like a broken record, but this seems to be the "perfect plant" : stays about 30" tall, flowers to finish in 8-9 weeks, has a definite UP, visual high, with a good body feel ... it has virtually no odor, just a VERY slight 'lemony aroma', good yield (getting about 5 ounces dried, manicured buds, plus couple ounces of shake per plant), very easy to grow, extremely stable, and will KICK your ass ... what is it ? ... Thanks for the suggestion! That does sound promising! Your plant looks very delicious! I think I might actually try this one out. I'll keep you posted if I do, so keep your eyes out in the near future for grow progress. I'm a first timer, so I'll def be posting my progress for advice, etc. How's the high? another good choise would be k2 by homegrown fantaseeds,very easy beginer plant takes alot of abuse!!covers all the aspects you are looking for.good luck hope it goes well.:thumbsup:

yup Northern Lights #5 the origional one is what you are looking for.

I suggested the Northern Lights/Cinderella99 hybrid, since he indicated he wanted more of an 'upper' high, but ya can't go wrong with straight Northern Lights, either ... :smokin:

I've been doing some research online about a BUNCH of different strains, and I really think that Roadcam's suggestion will work best. I like the indica/sativa balance. Pure sativas tend to aggravate my anxiety, whereas hybrids and pure indicas don't. I have a little bit left of an Apollo 11/indica hybrid and I love it....happy uplifting high, but still chills me out and puts me to sleep after a while. I loved watching Weeds with this batch...great show by the way...really inspiring ;)

if you liked the Apollo/indica hybrid, you'll be very happy with the NL99 ... :smokin:

Hey roadcam, thanks soo much for the suggestion! It sounds like exactly what I'm lookin for! I'm getting gitty already about it. I just sent my order out today and keepin my fingers crossed that I get them in asap! Now I have to do my shopping for supplies. I have my pot and some soil, but that's it for now. Do you have any suggestions as far as lighting, soil, or fert for this strain? I'm only growing one or two in a fairly large closet, but I may be able to do it in my spare bedroom if that's cheaper/easier. Any advice would be much appreciated! I figured I'd ask you since you seem to have good experience with this one. Thanks!

Also, I'm lookin to do this for as cheap as possible while maintaining good quality....I'm a poor college kid :(

I say to go with a soiless potting mix (Miriclegrow), DNF nutes and a pH indicator solution! You will need to pop at least 3-4 beans to make sure you get fems! As for lights, what is your square footage?? Shoot for 40 watts/sq ft.

I also agree with Northern Lights. It is a sativa (more heady), doesnt smell much, taste great.

Get a 400 watt HPS Son T or Hortilux at least! 16 sq. ft is a large area. Plus paint the walls flat white, or use mylar!

This is a noob question....when will be the soonest I'll be able to determine sex? If I want to grow 2 pants max, how many seeds should I pop?

Perhaps I should take this to the grow lounge at this point...

3 or 4 seeds! 4 is best, that gives you a 50/50 chance for 2 fems

northern lights has been the best i've had (i too suffer from n.a.s. dissorder/ chronic insomnia) until recently...


ex had blueberry seeds, i got some, growing some. smoked it........ and holy shit! most relaxing high ever! (at least to me) n e way, check into this one too... cann cupp winner 2001 and 3rd place 2003. as for creativity, i am a singer/songwriter/guitarist. i love blueberry!!!!

How about I send you your first beans for free!! It's my own strain called Hawiian Punch #3 ! I'd like to see it grown out!! I have to many things going right now to get to them! I used to Mod at the old Johnny Referseed boards some years ago! Gave away tons of seeds!

BTW I took a pre-shopping trip to Lowe's and Home Depot today with no real luck in the lighting department. It was kinda discouraging. I found a good, promising organic potting mix, and some good ferts though. I think I'm gonna go the online route on lighting. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Keep in mind I'm doing this on a limited budget (poor college kid), but at the same time, I don't want to sacrifice quality. Also, what kind of yield should I expect from the NLxC99? AND when is the soonest I'll be able to determine sex of the plant?

NL99 pre-shows its female flowers very early, while still in veg ... amazing plant, it is so stable, it is virtually impossible to force it to hermie (I know, I tried several times) ... extremely easy to clone, too, grows itself ... mine produced about 3 ounces of dried, manicured bud only, on my fluoros, but a clone from the same plant netted about 8 ounces dried, manicured bud, plus about 1/2 pound of potent shake, under my friend's 400-watt HPS ... and when I say, 'manicured', I mean, very clean bud ... most growers wouldn't be as picky, so the yield would be even more ... bet you can't tell how impressed I am with this strain ... :D ... :smokin:

i'm a medicinal user myself and love the d/p blueberry.
you'll prob. have to get a few frows under your belt and you'll soon have your own personal prefference .
