I have been reading the forums for about a day , and decided I should registar .
My first post has to concern the use of tobacco when rolling a joint . Why ?
Seems like it would affect the taste of the bud .
Sorry if this is a odd question , but I have lived in BC for my whole life , and smoke pot regularly and have never heard of this .

I've never had one, but I'm sure that some flavored tobacco would be great with some Reefer.

I dunno, persoanlly im not a fan of joints. but when thats all u can get then whatever.
But whenever i do make joints i skip tobacco, mostly cuz i dont have any cigs on me.
and i think it might have something to do with burning
I do know that when I smoke weed out of my Hookah I put a small layer of tobacco in the bottom of and right on top of the bowl. Three Reasons: The tobacco is sticky and keeps the bud from falling through the holes in the bottom of the bowl. Since its wet tobacco (hookah tobacco is marinated in flavors and molassas/glycerin) it makes the weed burn alot slower so you can light up and enjoy for a much longer time than just letting it all burn up under the charcoal. And lastly, it tastes realy good, and sometimes the nicotine can change the way the high feels. Kinda why some people I smoke with will smoke a Black n' Mild or a cigarette afterwards. As for tobacco in a joint, maybe it makes the high different, dunno never tried it that way. When I get good strains of bud nothing is better than smoking a straight joint of it or smoking it a glass piece... Ahh pure KB, nothing like it!
So wait, would like opening a cig and putting i layer in my bowl make it burn slower? or do u mean actual tobacco?
It's mostly a U.K. thing from my understanding of it. No one I know would ever put baccy in there joints but I do know kids from the U.K. that think I'm an idiot for not. You can use any type of tabacco you want, what ever you feel like smoking with your pot i guess. hey piercedpunkonpot, that sounds awsome, I've always wanted to smoke a hooka.
i enjoy them together for two reasons:
- i can have a big joint out of tabacco and weed, where most the time i would roll a small one with just ganj
- i like the taste of both of them together (im a smoker tho keep that in mind)
Some do it to help it burn evenly or slower, but if you roll a joint properly it shouldn't be an issue. My buddy uses tobacco from Camels, not a fan really, despite bein' a smoker. Don't like to mix the two, especially blunts. Bleh.
with good bud you dont always want to put as much in a joint as most peoples minimum requirements to roll a joint so tobacco can fill in the space and make it fatter then a cigarette..
I don't know why you'd want to fuck up the wonderful taste of weed with that awful nauseating crap.
It's a UK thing, perhaps jamaican in some way because of the word spliff which intends the blending of both cannabis and tobacco. I think that's correct information but meh. Personally, I HATE tobacco and i generally smoke alone, just using my bubbler. However, when i'm with my friends all they do is smoke joints and guess what, they put tobacco in them. I'm not gonna pass up getting high, so I just accept it... =/ I will NEVER roll a joint mixed with tobacco, i refuse!
I put a very small amount of tobacco in some of my joints, it makes it burn better and doesnt effect the taste at all. [as long as you get the amounts right.]
I always use a lil splash of tobacco in my joints. Helps em burn better and longer if you get the blend right and no it doesnt effect the taste or high. And I always use tobacco in my hookah, shit burns for AGES!! It's a UK thing, coz us Brits know what we're doing when it comes to the herb!:thumbsup:

It's popular to smoke joints with tobacco in Montreal also. I can't tolorate it though.
if i dont have enough bud for a joint ill throw some tobacco in it, you cant hold it in forever tho, but it does give you a nicotine fix as well as a pot fix some people like it, others dont
the only time i mix it with tobacco is if its hash
if its hash tabaco if its green just a touch to help the burn.but its a uk thing.smoked all over the world and its only us that do it.
OK, here in the UK it is considered to be quite extravagent to smoke "purees" (what you lot call joints). (We leave that for the posh public school kids... which are the schools you pay for by the way. Its historic.)
We smoke spliffs which are about 50% tobacco. Tobacco makes the spliff smoke evenly, more efficiently (it keeps the weed at the correct heat) and stops it from going out. Don't you guys find it annoying when your passing a joint around and it keeps going out? Don't try to say its about rolling technique cos we roll the best spliffs around! Good weed goes out when smoked pure.
Oh by the way if you want to roll with backy get rolling backy (in the UK golden virginia is best). If your on the move however it can be handy to roll with a cig.)... I'll refrain from saying fag for your benefit :rasta:

Edit: Oh yeah and also with the skunk we get over here, a puree blows your mind! When i'm low on money and get standard weed I have to say I do boost up the weed/ backy ratio and normally do an L-skin which is about an inch longer spliff.
I don't know what kind of weed you're smoking, or what types of rolling papers you use, but my joints (100% weed) have never stopped burning unless I put them out. Maybe we use different methods? Instead of cone-shaped, mine resemble typical cigarettes.Quote:

im from yorkshire (midlands sort of in UK) and yeah, most people put tobacco in joints round here. the only reason i dont if it's a blunt, if i have loads or i an others wanna get really messed up.
Person, i rarely smoke to get totally out of my face lol, normally i smoke during college at the local park with friends, and if we have to go back to college after, so if we're totally messed, it raises suspicions.
But from my understanding, the bacci pads it out a bit, helps it burn better and changes the high a bit aswell.
I'm not a smoker so i don't really like the thought of tobacco in my joint, but it would just be too expensive/inconvenient to roll pure skunk spliffs all the time.
last time i had anything that resembled pure skunk was a really crappy blunt paper i rolled (cigar length, maybe a bit longer, blueberry flavoured bacci skin thing) and when i rolled it and poked it down, it was about 1/5th of the length of the paper and fatter than most cigars, so i got my grinder out and started packing it with weed, after it ws about 4/5ths full, my grinder was forcefully removed by friends insisting i put no more weed in or i'll kill us all (shandy drinkin puffs!) needless to say, it took 3 sessions and a combined total of 6 people to smoke it, but it was grand. there was probably more than £5 maybe even £10 worth of weed in that one blunt.
But yeah, like i said, its convenience, cheaper, burns better.
All opinion though i suppose.

I nearly always have bacci in my joints. Burns better and stretches your weed a bit methinks.
It's rare around these parts that you'd have a joint without tobacco :|
My boys like to put tobacco in the joints we blaze. i dont care either way though. They say it's because it burns nicer, I can't tell the difference. :/
Something people need to realize about adding tobacco to joints is a mostly european thing. They don't have the same tobacco as we do over here, there's is usually much higher quality(this is just what I've seen from personal experince) and isn't as chemically treated.
over here we Toast the The tobacco this help to Get the Nikotine and others ingredients out.. Its works very well when done correctly You get a much Smoother smoke which last longer.. But we also seems to smoking on some bigger Pibes "lol"
Everyone ive ever known who smoked in england have put baccy in with thier j's, with most of them it would be about 60% tobacco. With everyone ive met in uni so far who smokes its like 90% tobacco joints, fucking stupid, i cant be arsed preaching to them i just say no to thier joints.

The proportions vary greatly.
I have 2 sets of smoking peers, my local people (live within 2 - 3 miles) and people from college (coollege is only 8 miles away but some pepople travel 25 miles in the morning to get there)
The local people consider a "strong" joint as like 30 - 40% weed, yet at college, a weak one is considered about 50% weed. so it varyies massively.
Personally, it depends on why i'm smoking. if it's to relax a bit before a lesson, i'll roll maybe 40 - 55% weed but if im smoking to get raelly stoned i mite go up to like 80% weed.
after reading this thread, im seriously considering rolling a pure weed joint next time i have the afternoon off at college.
I've' done half and half with a shitty joint before it was alrite but i couldn't taste the reefer.

Sometimes my friend mixes 50/50 with tobacco if he only wants to use a little bit of some really strong weed. It's only like .3g, which is not really enough to physically roll a good joint, but if it's top quality stuff, then it's still enough to get totally baked. The tobacco helps form the joint when youre not using much weed and helps it burn.
Personally, I save the good stuff for the glass and put straight mids into paper.
i put tobacco in my joints 50% of the time. i like it cuz it gives me a headrush with my high, and it makes the j burn alot slower

No one around here that I know adds tobacco, though iv wanted to try it. Any J iv ever rolled is %100 bud. In my opinion it goes out depending on how well you ground down the weed. If you break it up slopy in your hands, its alot more likley to go out than with chopping the bud with a blade or grinding it.
I've been told that it's quite popular in Europe, especially Holland. I used to know some Vietnamese guys that used tobacco with weed, They claimed that it made the high last lots longer. When I was a tobacco smoker and I smoked a cig right after a bowl, it seemed to intensify things a bit. However, the only times that I have actually mixed the two is when I've emptied about 3/4 of the tobacco out of a cig then loaded it with weed and added a small amount of tobacco to the top. Great way to smuggle weed into concerts and such. Even with a filtered cig, you still get a damned nice buzz and the tobacco helps to mask the weed smell somewhat.Quote:

50/50 mix of weed and baccy? Fuckin hell, thats a lot of baccy! I only use literally a pinch of rolling baccy in the middle of a spliff (layer of weed, layer of baccy, another layer of weed). If im low on herb, then I just roll a small spliff.
I do like pure joints though, but at the moment all thats going around is wet stuff that just about burns with baccy. And its still £25 a friggin eighth! :(
I like to mix a little bit of Captain Black Sweets (cigar) tabacco into my spliffs. It makes the joint burn slower. Also, I love the flavour of the Sweets' tabacco. Makes the joint so much better in my opinion.
