So are we all just a bunch of sea monkeys?

I was trippin last night:cool:and i came up with this.....
Were nothing special....just by studying the universe, and other planets and large bodies in the solar system, our planet just happened to have a gravitational pull on it a certain way that other planets dont, that allows life to flourish, we had the right mixtures and the right compounds put together so that life just started up and its been so long that we've just evolved into a more advanced form of life, were nothing special, nothing thats going to carry on until the end of the universe, the sun will explode or something will happen that will drastically alter the climate of the earth and as fast as life was here life we'll be gone
And i dont see how people believe in religion and yet they slaughter people over it daily, i dont see how when something extraordinary happens to us we blame it on a mythical person, we didnt spawn off of a speical anything.
Earth is just a rock...as is Mars, Neptune, or the moon, it just happen to be in the right place at the right time...

so are we all just a bunch of sea monkeys?

please dont read this and think im an idiot cause i called the human race sea monkeys, im using it as a reference to us, when you get the conditions right, sea monkeys flourish, when the conditions are wrong, they die...get it?

But we can take things rationally, and start at the beginning.

like i have said befor you have to pick one or the other. We are all here chooseing that now. on one hand were all sea monkeys and will go off into nothing ness, and so we should just live for your self and kill off everything that is around you and take the stuff for your self, because it doesn't matter. on the other hand you can love your life and others and know we are all human's on the same rock and we need to love the life given to us by god. and thus you would seek him out and find out what he has intended for us.

i didnt say anything about killing or hatred or everything for myself what i mean is why does everyone keep on insisting we seek out this mythical creature whom we have...virtually NO proof of
i know youve done this in school, tell a something to someone and they tell it to the next person and so on till it gets back to the teacher, that right there i think is a prime example of why the bible and how it is read and understood today is not right, the story had to have been flawed out somewhere in time and this is a story thats thousands of years old, someone has got to screw up somewhere

I think one day we will be able to prove that it was all a random case of right place right time. At some point we will find another planet with similar circumstances as ours and we will be able to recreate the same process of evolution, our own little ant farm of creatures. Even more thought provocting what if we are the ant farm for a more advance civilization trying to do figure out there own exsistence. Thats a little out there but even that seems for likely to me than some overlord type guy who watches and judges all of us until the day we die, and then based on that determines if we go to a good or bad place for eternity.

The options are ENDLESS, just becuase someone finds the egotistical idea of a god that spends all his time focusing on humans, thinking like humans, and taking care of humans egotistical and kinda pathetic, does NOT mean that the only other possibility is to turn into a sadistic selfish beast.

Man makes his own meaning in life. Their is one step in this process that turns rationality into blind, unproven faith. Most of us don't go there. Simply look at history, they had gods too. They probably feared and respected and loved their gods just as much as the religious people do nowadays, however, they used their gods to explain what they didn't understand.

With science, we have uncovered the scientific, logical explanation for the sun rising in the sky, or rain. And suddenly, a more advanced, simplified god has been created. Eventually, We're just going to find out EVERYTHING, and either god will be formed into something entirely unrecognizable and complex from today's standard, or he will dissapear from human society, if ours lasts that long.

If there is a god, all we can do is acknoledge god. We can't understand it, because perfection would be infinite. Our brains could never comprehend god, we can't just look the positive sides of humanity and pretend he's mother teresa with a lot of intelligence.

It is an egotistical JOKE to think earth, and reality, was "created" for US. As we evolve, we get smarter, and blind unrational faith suddenly seems less appealing.

Good post Inferius, I like how you emphasized how egotisical it is to think that the world was created for just humans and that there is someone watching over us humans only and neglecting the rest of the universe.

What is your definition of 'special'? Do you mean, having significance? So basically, do humans have significance? Of course we flourish when the conditions are 'right'... because we are an extension of our environment. We know that we are made up of natural substance that this earth is made of and that we came out of it; we're made up of the same elements that have made up dinosaurs and the wooly mammoths, and millions of other creatures over millions of years. The water that you drink, they once drank; the water and minerals that you consist of now; they once consisted of as well.

Even if you believe in god, it's not necessarily as if god reached down and 'created' you at your conception and you were thereby 'dropped' into an alien world that just happened to be in the right conditions to support you... Adam was made out of clay. Earth. Just as we are. So, you can think of the human race as insignificant dirt that's... somehow kind of alive, but essentially insignificant in the grandiose happenings of the universe; or, you can consider for a moment that all these happenings... your being, life on earth, the convenient placement of earth in our solar system, the complex energy frequencies that humans have barely begun to scratch the surface of understanding, all our little cells and their little organelles and interactions and restructuring of DNA, the arrangement of molecules and atoms, electrons, neutrons and protons -- they're all one happening.

'Big' and 'small' have no scale of importance in the universe, because it's all one. Therefore, I think humans (and sea monkeys) are exactly as significant as they are insignificant. :upsidedow

As arrogant as it might be though, there is 'something' special about us I think. I have considered the Sea Monkey, but I wonder if the Sea Monkey could ever 'consider' me? Does the music on the stereo mean anything to him? Does he know how beautiful the water is around him? Does he wonder about his 'Sea Monkeyness', and whether it is significant?

Not that we're better than the Sea Monkey because, quite obviously the Sea Monkey is a glorious thing, in and of itself. But I think what makes us special is that we represent the Universe becoming sentient--aware of itself. Raw math and physics manifesting into more than just math and physics. I can't help being just a little bloody pleased with that....arrogant as it is.

...but this is supposed to be about Sea Monkeys, isn't it. Damn self-absorbed humans. Thinking it's all about them...typical.

Whoowee, we're sentient. But it's just a "step" of evolution. What i'm trying to get at, is that those sea monkeys think on a very basic level, compared to us. But, like sea monkeys, we can't comprehend the next level that's beyond us. We can't see the entire scope of intelligence or evolution, we just look around at our own little earth and proclaim ourselves superior to all beings, merely becuase we can't comprehend a more advanced state of being. For all we know, we ARE sea monkeys.
A blind person who was born blind, has no comprehension of colors. The idea is "alien" to him. This is the perfect example of higher understanding, higher evolution.

We may be the first creatures to discover things like math and science and write them down, but....how can we even go as far as to say that. We can't read the minds and the thoughts of the animals around us. They communicate in there own ways that we have yet to figure out and probably never will. Monkeys and dolphins are very well developed creatures that have shown many scientists may great things about how advanced they really are mentally. Not only that as Inferius referenced we know very little about our universe and what else is even out there. For all we know we could be one of the simplest groups of mentally heirachial dominate creatures in the universal. It is just very presumptus to say that we are the most advanced creature in the universe when we know so little.

lol...you guys need to read the original post. It has nothing to do with being better than another living creatures. It's just a question about our significance.

It's a philosophical question asking whether we are nothing more than math and biology.--nothing more than a random set of 'conditions'. My assertion is that we are more than that. We are significant. My evidence is our art, music, self-awareness, and ability to consider that which is, and which might be. It's an unprovable question at our level of being anyway; but as for me, I'm taking the optimistic high road.

Thats exactly what I've been thinking. We are just very luck mistakes. Were like bacteria, we live ,we do our purpose, we die. But I don't understand what our purpose is, I meen what are we supposed to do, just live? We've gotten to smart for our own good.

we just evolved and got to smart and when we started figuring out what really was going on people didnt want to accept it as theyve been belieiving in religion for hundreds of thousands of years and astronomical science only came into play about 30 or 40 years ago

yeah but somehow the bible fortold all this and fortold all about jesus. lets all ignore the facts the bible points out and pretend that god doesn't exsist just to not have to awnser for what we do.

yea but as stories are told they get changed there was probaly a little something that happened and it changed the way people think about it now

I had an idea once, that the universe was just a package, and all life as we know it is just a anti bacterial agent used to keep the contents of the package fresh, and the millions of years we know as our history is just the time in between where the package was picked up, and it's arrival at the sorting center, literally jsut a few hours.. damn shrooms
