OMG WILL THIS WORK!?

Since photosynthesis is the process that turns light into growth, would it make sense to give a plant more light after the plant has established itself into the flowering mode to produce more buds?

What I'm suggesting is after about 4 weeks from the start of flowering when buds start to form, one starts to add more day than night period. For example from 12day/12night, one adds an half-hour per day until one reaches, oh let's say, 17/5. The real question is if the plant will revert back into vegging if given more light periods gradually?

the plant will probably revert, but i think 13/11 would be safe

I do not think that is the most clever thing to do. Rather than try to give it more time of lighting, you should consider giving it more intensity of lighting. Throw a few more cfls in the growspace, it should help fatten up those buds ;) (but be careful to keep temps down, you don't want no stress).
Also, I personally start my flowering on a 14/10 schedule and then drop it down to 13/11 after a week, then 12/12...It's my attempt at simulating the natural season, the light schedule this plant has been genetically taught over the past few centuries. and in the last week of flower, i give it 10/14 to simulate the end of the season...The plant says, uh oh, winters coming, better send as much juice as I can to my resin-producing flowers! :rasta:

I thought I read somewhere that a plant will revert to veg growth anytime more than 14 hrs of light is introduced--don't know over what time period....could be my imaginiation tho.....

The plant will reveg. The buds will die, and the plant will stunt growth. Then when you try to reflower, it will take longer, and have a hightened probability of exhibiting hermaphrodite traits. Dont do it. DO what MaryjaneMenehune said, and try to increase the intensity of the lights when they ARE on. You can also increase bud size/density and THC % (potency) by decreasing humidity and adding Ultraviolet light (UVB only).

That is the short answer. ;)

Oh and make sure you let them mature properly. Be patient.

Photosynthesis is the process that turns CO2 and H20 into sugar(a higher energy molecule) using light energy.

Yes it does make sense to give the plant more light when it is flowering and this should increase the buds. More light could be by lengthening its day or increasing the lumen concentration.

It isn't ridiculous to think this, its just unfortunate that the plant will stop flowering if u increase its photoperiod.

In principle you want to increase the light to increase the sugars, to increase the growth. There are some products on the market like "Carbload" which are simple sugars that the plants can absorb through there roots and use them. It is the same principle just skippin a step. I've never used these products.

i've never heard of being able to add ""Carbload" if its the sugars the plant uses to grow then why would it be a bad idea to use.

pretty much my question is you say, "i've never used these products," is there a reason not use these products or have you just never personaly tried it??

Molasses and un processed honey can do a very similar thing for the plant. Use either at 1 TSP per gallon. I am sure you can red up on it around the web.

The only reason the plant forms buds is because the plant thinks its going to die and before it dies It wants to reproduce. And this is only done at 12/12, but some people do go 18/6 during flowering but only for 2 days then back to 12/12. I wouldn't do it more then 4 days through. Good LuCk :thumbsup:

No this would not work.

If you are going to add more light... try adding another 1000 watt HPS..

changing your cycle beyond 12/12 is not recomended as the plant will revert back to veg i tried the 14/10 cycle and my buds died and the plants reverted, when i tried to put them back to 12/12 the yeild was very low and not heavy, the quality of the smoke was impaired aswell. The plants were taken from a known good mother, of which other plants did really well on the 12/12 cycle, but changing the flowering light cycle is the worst thing you can do.
