Howdy pimpified,
Why would you want to grow your plants in an aquarium ?
Doing so,will severely restrict the room needed for root growth, which will result in decreased yields and all sorts of other problems.
I think that you need to read more about grow set-ups,are you trying to restrict the size and yields of your plants on purpose ?
There are basically two ways to grow indoors, hydro and soil-less,you can choose to do a scrog grow to keep the plants small and short,or grow them out in 2-5 gallon sized pots, and keep them short by topping them and tying down if needed-if space is a concern.
I think that you need some more education on indoors growing, take some time to study and prepare, you'll be alot happier with the results.
Have a good one...Torog

I wouldn't go for tin foil as a reflector, it conducts way too much heat. Use mylar instead or just paint the walls of your growroom flat white.
I'd post some pics up to show what your intended set up looks like ;)

Howdy pimpified,
I thought that you claiming that your tank was only 50 gallons and 6x6 feet, was terribly wrong in reagrds to the cubic volume that you claim,so- I went to PetSmart and found this page, http://www.petsmart.com/global/produ...=1098970754178 , the size of the 50 gallon tank,is 36"L x 15"W x 20"H , so a 6ft.x6ft tank, would obviously be very huge ,both in terms of size and volume, and if you could afford a tank like that, you can afford to build an entire room to grow in..so what gives ?

It would depend on how thick the sheets are, and again I'd imagine they would get very hot and absorb all the heat as opposed to deflecting it onto your plants. Alot of light would seep right through the sheets and out of the aquarium. Also, when you flower your plants on the 12/12 cycle you need complete darkness. If you had just a sheet shielding your plants from light (assuming your aquarium is a clear colour?) some form of light would be bound to creep in. Mylar is very cheap to obtain by the roll from hardware stores. Or even just take 4 thin sheets of plywood, paint them flat white and line the inside of your box with them.
Bearing in mind your aquarium would also need some form of ventilation I'm not sure how you'd get round that. A wooden cabinet with a door is easy to cut holes in for fans to draw air in and out, but a glass tank? Hmmm..I dunno..

I ask again, why is it that you ain't making sense, claiming to have a 6 foot x 6 foot aquarium ? If you provided the heighth..it would be possible to calculate the true volume.

Howdy pimpified,
Well,I'm still waiting for you to explain the apparent contradictions in your claim of having such a large aquarium.

maybe he/she just made a mistake, torog!?

Howdy Ghost,
Yup,I reckon that you're probably right,I'll back off and stop being such a dingle-berry...lol. Mainly,I was just curious and thought that if I could help pimpified figure out just what kind of space he actually had, that we could help him better understand how to utilize what resources he has, just because I'm an ornery, old fart on the politics board, doesn't mean that I don't want to help the newbies out when I can..lol.
Have a good one...Torog :D

A. Aquarium should be fine. I'm using one too, although 125 gallons instead of 50. From what I can tell (havn't gotten to this point yet), you will have to bend the plants so they grow horizontially, then the buds will grow vertically off of it towards the light. Or so the book says (Indoor Marijuana Horticulture) - seems to make sense to me though.
A. Don't use tinfoil. Reflects shitty and unevenly. Use ultra white paint or mylar. I took some old cardboard boxes, painted 2-3 coats of ultra white paint and taped it to the sides of my aquarium. For the bottom I took a plastic painting dropcloth, doused it in white too, then trimmed to fit on the bottom of the tank. With my 440w VHO light system it is bright as hell inside the tank with the lights on - setting up good reflection makes the light efficiency so much higher (effective larger grow space)

Take your ass to walmart and buy some 4mil WHITE plastic sheeting. It will reflect the light and also you won't have any issues with the sheet's porous nature (mold, soaking up moisture, mildew etc...) and it will cost you $4.88 for a 10' x 25' sheet. Over by the painting supplies usually.
But if you can afford it use the reflective mylar. It is what I use, and the difference is night and day Soooo much brighter with mylar. :)
