New grower, needing advice on lowryders

Hello everyone!

I'm new to growing, as well as this forum. Here is my situation:

I have two plants growing at the moment. They are just from bag seeds, but I was using these two seeds to kind of experiment with what to do before I go out and purchase some seeds. Well, the experiment has sort of failed. I had my lights waaaaay too far from the plants and ended up with both of them stretching for the light. So I moved my lights down and have started to try to salvage anything, but really I'm just using this time to try out different things and get a feel for what I'm doing. I probably won't try to harvest anything from these seeds as I am sure they will turn out males anyways.

However, I have been combing through this site trying to find information on what would be a good strain for me to grow. This is all for personal, recreational use, so I believe that the lowryder strain might be a good thing for me. Through my searching of the forum, I've got somewhat of an idea of how I should be going about all this.

Here is where you all might be able to help me. I'd like to do this grow organically, but it's not mandatory. If you think its going to be quite expensive to purchase soil/nutes that are organic, then please let me know.

I'd like to have three plants going at a time. My grow space is about 2 feet by 2 feet, and a little over three feet tall and is painted flat white. I am planning on using CFLs for this grow as well. What I have now are:

Two: 42watt (2700 lumens) CFLs
Six: 13watt (800 lumens) CFLs

My main questions for right now are:

1) What are some good soils (organic hopefully, but not needed-please list both if you can) to use with lowryders?

2) What about nutrients? I'd like to maximize my yield, so what nutrients (same thing with the organic stuff as above) work well with lowryders?

3) Would I have enough light going onto these plants? If needed, I can purchase more CFLs. That's no problem.

4) Finally, what about fans? With my semi-small grow space, what kind of fan(s) would I need? I am not worried about any sort of smell, as I live in my own place and don't really need to hide anything from anyone. Can I get away with maybe 2 smaller (4 inch) fans? I can possibly fit an oscillating fan near by to blow on them if needed, but I'd prefer something smaller.

I would really appreciate any sort of advice anyone could give me. Yes, I am new to growing, but I'm willing to soak up as much knowledge as I can. Forgive me if any of my questions come off as "common knowledge." I've read as much as I can, but still am unclear of these things and would like to know what tricks and tips others can provide. 1. Ocean Forest from fox farm
2. Fox farm nutes as well...they have tables on the site for ya.
3. If you can use a HPS....200-400 watts for 3 plants 400 puts out 52,000 lumens I think which blows away your CLFs. They do put out heat though. This will blow away your CFL yield for just about $100 more
4.Get a box fan....cheap and moves around alot of air 2000-3000 CFM for under 10 bucks.

Hey thanks for the response. I was looking into the fox farm stuff. That's pretty much what I've made my mind up on. However, I was just unsure if anyone had any other ideas specifically for lowryders.

As for the HPS vs. CFLs ordeal, for now, its going to be CFLs. It's really the only option I have at this point. I'm thinking of adding a couple more of the 42w ones however.

And thanks for that tip on the box fan. I really hadn't even thought about that. infact, one would probably fit perfectly in my space.

Does anyone else have any advice after successfully growing lowryders? I appreciate all angles of advice. Thanks.

i havnt successfully grown them yet but im waiting on the seeds to come in then we'll have them under a 1000watt hps which ill be posting when ready
maybe you can find a lower wattage, 150-200watt HPS, at your local home de"pot". Its smaller then a 400 watt and its way better for growing than some CFLs

and cyclonite a box fan doesnt push 3000 cfm, my $150 fan pushes 700cfm and its way more intense then a box fan

Sounds awesome man. I'm still experimenting with my bag seed plants, but I plan to start the lowryders mid-november to correspond with a vacation I'm talking. I'm ordering the seeds after the 1st of October, once I get paid.

I really wish an HPS was plausible, but it simply isn't. Atleast not at this time. I will try it with CFLs for now, and when it becomes possible to use HPS I will deffinitely jump on that. Besides, I already have several CPLs already. I'm planning to buy 2 more 42w 2700 lumens bulbs and probably a couple more 13w 800 lumens bulbs.

What nutrients/soil are you using? Or are you doing hydro?

im not sure what kind were going with yet seeing as how my friends in on it to so whatever he decides we'll go with, this room is fairly new so itll probaly be soil first to see how shit turns out and how well everything performs

i've grown some very good plants using just CFLs, so dont fret that a hps isnt avaliable, you should be alright try to get some pics up to

Alright. I'm not really worrying about using CFLs. I've got a lot of them going, so I think it's ok. I'm ordering the seeds tonight actually. I've decided to grow one as soon as possible rather than waiting till I got back from vacation in mid november. I'm ordering from Dr. Chronic. I've heard good things about them. This means I gotta go out and buy the rest of my things. I still need to get pots, soil, a fan, and a few more CFLs.

Hopefully I can pollenate a good female to get a bunch of seeds so I don't have to buy any more seeds ever. I will basically get high for free for however long I want. I'm getting so excited to start.

be careful pollenating lowryders they produce so many seeds your smoke is useless unless you want seeds the first run through and you may want to wait till you come back form vacation incase somethinmg goes wrong and it will.

I will be having my gf take care of them while im gone for a few days. It's not a big deal. And she will be seeing me do everything up until then, so she should know what's going on.

Have you grown lowryders before? One thing I'm a little concerned about is starting the seedling in fox farm soil. I heard it can sometimes kill the seedlings.

And I'm deffinitely wanting to just do the bean in soil and hope it pops up. It's the only way I've ever gotten to work.

Most 20" box fans move 2000-3000 CFM of air, thats the way to go if you dont have to be stealth. Cheap also.
