I fill out paper work tomorrow for a very important state job. I haven't smoked in 86 days. I have a slow metabolism and I am slighty overweight. Moderate one joint a day smoker. My career/life will be ruined if I don't pass this test. Am I safe? Is there any chance at all not to pass a urine test? I'm just FREAKIN OUT, right?

You are going to get a lot of people that will respond that since you are past 30 days you will be fine. You would be surprised at how many people who smoke every day test positive after 30 days. These people can easily test positive for 30-60 days after last smoking. You probably are fine because you are past 60 days but to give you the reassurance you would like I would like to know how tall you are and what you weigh and your activity level like type of work and exercise you do. Being overweight is one of the biggest things that can lengthen the time it takes for you to get clean.Quote:

Urine tests can be so very basic sometimes. And it really can depend upon who is administering the test. What colour does the strip go...and is it light or dark? I had someone perform a urine test on me last year, and the colour for cannabis showed up light on a test strip (they didn't send the urine to a lab as a result of faint colours on the strip) and so I sailed through, with a warning, of course...

Just back from an independant lab that tested my urine. I passed. You think I'm still safe? Do labs test different ways? Ugh, I'm really nuts over this.

If you passed what are you worried about? If a lab uses immunoassay then GC/MS to confirm positive results, there can be slight differences between the type of immunoassay test used but the GC/MS is pretty much standard across the board. There is one immunoassay test that is better for pot smokers than some of the others but overall the difference is none.Quote:

Instant test strips are commonly used. Some companies will send positive strip tests to a lab to double check. If they didn't do this then you should be fine.

When your not full of thc to begin with then yes.
I wouldn't drink a ton of water because then you might be dilute but a little extra than normal would be fine. Urinating several times before the test will not hurt at all. Never give your first void of the day, which is rare. Who wakes up and holds it till the test.Quote:

Are you familiar with immunoassay? Many drug tests use immunoassay first since it is cheaper than GC/MS, then if a positive shows up, it is confirmed with GC/MS because it is more accurate and can eliminate the few false positives that may occur. So the + I think is referring to confirmation by gc/ms and not gc/ms as being the first test conducted. SAP stands for substances of abuse panel and the 50 only referes to marijuana. Most of the other thresholds are set and the requester of the test can choose from 100, 50, or 20 for THC.Quote:

EMIT is one of the types, yes. I am not sure if it would be correct to call it a "brand name" but several companies market immunassay tests and EMIT is one of them. Basically immunoassay uses monoclonal antibodies to discover drug metabolites. The probable cutoff for the immunoassay in your test being a 5-50 is anything above 50 ng/ml of 31 different THC metabolites would be considered an initial positive. Your test would then probably confirm it with gc/ms.Quote:

Why do people always come post this stuff? People, they sell drug test kits at CVS and Walgreens for like 20 bucks. They are FDA certified and pretty much the same system (chemically) that is used by the testing centers. If you pass on of those, it is safe to assume you will pass the real thing. In fact, many of the home testing devices are MORE sensative than the ones in the real labs.

It is for this reason I am all for drug testing for white collar jobs. If you are so dumb you can't A.) Stop smoking for a month or two to land a dream job cause you don't think its worth it OR B.) Read and follow simple instructions online.....i wouldn't want you working for me either. These things are not hard to fake out, and unless you are testing for the military or some kind of high level security clearance, the chances are very high your employer is not going to pay for the very sensative testing methods because they are very very expensive per person tested, and the less expensive ones will catch the more hardcore users anyway.
Me personally? I am an information hound and I wanted to know the chemistry of my test and its specifications. I'm well aware that I can test myself. Oh, and you judging me based on 4 posts 3 sentences really sets you into the fantastic group of idiots that you despise. Grow up and "fu"

simmah down now, folks. i just needed a friend that could relate. sorry to have caused an uproar.
i start the job tomorrow because they are desperate to have the position filled. i pissed into a cup tuesday morning around 9:30 am. then it was courierred(?) over to the lab. didn't hear from them today. i'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed everything is fine.
