Harvest
I have harvested succesfully and i was unprepared for drying and curing and was talked into a quick method of drying from an old hippie :P mostly because i was unprepared and needed it done fast.
So the method i chose was to wrap the buds up in newspaper really tight after trimming the leaves and change daily, so tight that he said you could hit someone over the head with it after :D .
Well i did it to all of my harvest and am wondering if i fucked up. I know the hard rolling and abuse probably fucked up alot of trichromes. I did get a few sticks with the first sign of mold on them but quickly dried and smoked them. The rest seem to be doing good and are moldless.
My question is was this a good choice?
Also the buds are supposed to look like thai stick after finished :s

Never heard of doing it that way but alot of people have there own ways of doing everything. I cut mine down hang dry for a week give or take just till you get a snap out of the stem and than into quart jars. I open them and shake them lightly and reseal after 10 minutes of being open. I have stored the weed up to a year like this.

Never heard of drying buds like that. Curing maybe, but you don't want to wrap any buds up tightly so there is no air for them. That is a recipe for mold.
Just leave you buds out for 5-7 days, and they should be dry. Some hang them, some just put them on something, and turn them every 12hrs for even drying, or some lay them on a screen to dry. There are many methods, but one thing you don't want to do is cram them in something so there is no air. Mold is made from darkness and moisture, which is exaclty what you did.
I hang mine for about 5-7days, or until they are crisp to the touch. Then I move them into curing jars, and for the first 4 or 5 days, I open them jars up for 30min every 12hrs, so mold doesn't form. I usually cure for about 2-4 weeks.

I think he was just trying to get you to roll your entire crop into 1 enormous joint........then smoke it.

It's not a method i've ever heard of for drying buds either, but i quite like the idea, i'd assume that the paper absorbs a lot of moisture quickly but i'd say it's best to hang for a day or two first then wrap in the paper, coz like's already been stated if there's too much moisture when you wrap them they are likely to go moldy. But if you do it after a couple of days i think it would absorb most of the remaining moisure and allow the buds to cure a bit too. A lot of people dry and cure differently (mainly different times, some may hang for 10 days then cure for 3 weeks, others hang for 5 days and don't bother curing) It's all about what works for you, how long your prepared to wait and how fussy you are about the cure, not to mention the difference to the length of the process that the temp/humidity can make. Play around with a couple of different methods and see what works best for you!

i'am one of those old hippie and I havent heard of that way of dryind and cureing. We just hung it in the closet for a few weeks and then smoked it.
One time hitching across the usa run into a commune up in the mountains and stayed awhile.we help in the harvest.they had a old army tent one of those that are about 60 feet long and about 20 wide.We just hung them on strings in the tent.they put 5 gals. water pales in the tent too.Every day around 6:00 pm they would open the tent doors at both ends for about 2 hours aday for 2 and 1/2 weeks to 3 weeks.to dry. Then they would cut the stem of the buds and lay them in a footlocker 12 footlockers.I hated to leave them bud had to be trucking on down the road.
I just hang it in a closet for 3 weeks and then in to the jars to cure.

can one hang a whole tree instead of cutting every stem?

Harvest
Hanging the entire tree will work fine and it will dry more evenly. But it will take longer.

I have a quick drying method that won't cause mole. Now granted you can't dry a large amount this way but you can dry enough to hold you until the rest is dry.
What I did was got a food dehydrator .... removed the heater, and put my clip buds in. It takes three days and the buds are nice and dry. No harsh or green taste. Works great. ;)

what i plan to do for my plant is to put the buds in a cardboard shoebox with slits and holes for ventalation and store it in a drawer airing it out every day.
i dont think that the newspaper thing is a good idea..

So, no go for the newspaper. There are some good posts here about drying and curing. Check them out. You'll do better next time. I'm sure your weed still gets ya high. :D Congrats on a successful grow.
