I can't remember either, i think i've read somewhere that it's quite normal with some strains but there's something else telling me it could be do to with high temps. Only problem with weed, you have to keep reading the same shit every couple of months!
I have seen seemingly informed answers, that red stems are caused by temperature extremes ... BUT, I have had individual plants get the red stems, all same strain, all in same grow cabinet, all same temps, and some had red, some didn't ... so, its still a mystery to me, but I have noticed no other difference in the plant, or the smoke ... my experience, its nothing to worry about :smokin:
Lack of potassium - mobile nutes, show a pic.
sorry for repost - Image reaper is right, because they are "mobile" nutrients the plant can move them from place to place, where and when they are needed, you will notice it's mainly on the fan leaf stalks (see my log) not usualy on the stalks that bare buds.
The plant is giving all it has to the buds. Lack of K (potassium) - it's okay unless it's realy bad.
Good luck - Hall

i was agreeing with this because im using a 5 gal. hydro bucket w/o micro nutes...
but i found a hydro shop a hour away and got my nutes (pic 5)
also the plant is a clone that was started in soil (pic 2)
i removed the clone from soil and think i damaged the roots when i did
everything is looking alittle better
heres the pics...
thanks
When ONE has red stems,
1..you need to check you PH very thoroughly
2. Make sure you are not over watering
Red STEMS can be very serious.. especially if the branches start to get woody and brittle...
It will do no good to feed your plant if the PH is not correct or of the roots are not getting proper O2..

The plant in the picture is severly stunted and mal nourished.. it will be tough to recover form that state..

dunno about this one here is a pic of some of my smaller clones, i am seeing how small i can take cuttings and produce healthy plants, the cuttings were tiny and are just powering through now with new shoots, when the stems went red the plant had seemed to of frozen in growth for 2-3 weeks, it seems to be redish up untill the node. maybe a possible result in stress at a young age and will turn in to male!!! or its just weird, the cuttings were dipped in 3g/L INDOLE-3-BUTYRIC ACID.... as are all my clones... and placed straight in to potting mix.. 100% success rate till this day.. crazy but thats how i do it
im not over watering (positive) and ph is fine, so it must be due to the light quantities or nuets, but plants being this young shouldnt need many nuets..
I'm sure it's K (potassium defeciency) - Look red stems on mine too - but all okay... maybe it's strain related to an extent?
I have skunk #1
Hall
hey rohnjohn did your stems go red when they were in soil or when you transplanted them.... maybe its just a clone thing...
no, it was after i had took the clone out of soil, soaked the roots and put in the bucket when i started having this problem...Quote:

sorry i cant get any pics.... my internet is turned off and im "piggy backin" it for now and my speeds like 2-5 mbps
Hey Hall.. your red stem issues are very different than JOHNS or DADDUDES..
they actually have red stalks and their plants are in the vegging stage.. Your red is on the stems of your fan leaves and your plant is flowering...
cheers
2 totally different beasts
Ahhh okay - thanks Knowm, just trying to help. I have had those red fan leaf stems all the way through though so I looked it up and found it was a mobile nutrient defeciency.
Hope you are okay - Hall x
it is looking better and is making a growth of about 1/4inch a day
the same bottom stem is still red and the new growth is a healthy green and has pre-flowers
THATS great,,, NEW, green, vigorous growth are the primary signs of a healthy plant.. NEW growth should always be BIGGGER AND BETTER than previous GROWTH!!

thanks GK
heres a pic of it now, you might be able to see the difference
VERY NICE.. yes your plant is on its way to full recovery.. GREAT PICTURE THANKS!!!!
That Black cover over the base of your plant should Idealy be WHITE.. and make sure it does not get moist directly under the cover.. around your stem.. you DONT want stem rought..
