I'm just now getting back from writing a program for my computer programming class. I was about 90% done after working for 5 hours straight, and the damn computer ERASED all of my coding (for those of you familiar with Java, I had written a good 200 lines of code). The computer I was using just all of a sudden overwrote my program with a blank file. Some of you may be saying "I should have saved it as I was going", but that's just the thing: I was doing that. So now I either have to start over, or pray that my professor can recover it. I'm highly pissed.

yeah, I don't have experience with php/mysql yet. Java is the only programming language they are teaching here at the moment, but I was told it was going to change before my senior year. Apparently they're gonna start offering Visual Basic and C++ programming too. I already have a little bit of experience with 3D modeling/animation as well (Maya is an excellent program for doing this). Are you, by any chance, a computer science major or something? lol just wondering

If you're familiar with torrents and how to search for them, you could probably find a free copy of the Maya program I mentioned (that is, if you're interested). I think it's published by a company called Alias (either that or Autodesk). The latest version, I believe, is 7.0. If you can't find it on torrent, the creators do have a free version of it, but it watermarks anything you create.

Maybe one day they'll start using us for energy to power themselves and place us in a false reality... hmm... this scenario seems familiar for some reason :)

i need 3d rendered figured created from drawings and what not...quality at that...it take a lot of money and time to do that...i havent messed with programming in a while...except a little html helping my friend out with his site..i might dab back into a little with some c/c++ though...the program sounds promising..can i get some more info on it?
ive payed with those shareware programs with 3d figures...but theyre shitty and have so many limitations

This is the official website for Maya. It doesn't tell you much about the features, though. However, I know from experience that it's fairly limitless. You can create just about anything you can imagine, provided you know how to work the program.

It's LETHAL. lol. Yep, it was a Matrix reference.
Well, the good news about today is my professor decided to give me an extra day and is only making me do the last 10% of the program since he saw the majority of it on Wednesday and knows it was working. He said he was going to copy someone else's code and simply remove the last two steps for me to figure out on my own. Sounds fair enough to me. At least I don't have to start completely over.

Not familiar with java but I'm familiar with C++ and C and I feel your pain :p. I was gonna cry, one time I wrote a program totally free-style. I finally got it to work and I was about to compile it so it would be operable as a .exe and it froze . I had to hold the power button and restart. It was the hardest thing ever to do lol.
