At what age did you move out of your parents house?
The reason why I'm asking because me and two other friends are thinking about moving into a condo early 2007, also we all are attending college. I have a good relationship with my parents and all, I just want to get out of my house to somewhat start new and have more freedom. I don't mind working to pay for rent, utilities, and etc either. Anyways, Im 17, and I'm planning to move out.

I moved out after I graduated HS when I was around 18. Allthough the months leading up to my moving out, all I did was spend the night at friends houses.

I always hated living with my family, and my parents recognized that. I was a gifted student, and they thought I was responsible enough to live by myself at the age of 16. I moved into a trailer that my dad purchased when I was 14 and we had an agreement that he would pay the bills until I was 19. I thought this was perfect. Since I had a job I could purchase things that I needed, and save my money for other things since I didn't have to pay the bills. I could also go out and do whatever I wanted really, because I didn't need my parents permission to go out anymore. It was also good in the point that I could smoke. There was no smoking aloud in my parents house so now that I had my own place I could hit the bong with a couple of my buddies whenever

I am 17 and I seriously can't see myself moving out for another 2 or 3 years. I'd rather not want to worry about utilities and bills while I try to save up for a car and go to college for my apprenticeship
Though if I had the money I guess I'd be outta here alot sooner..

i was 16, but I was also pregnant I didnt have a choice. I wish I could have stayed home longer. It would have made college alot easier.

Don't rush it if you don't have to. If you've got a nice setup at home, feel free to use it till you get out in the world a bit and get settled. As long as you're not still living there whem your 26 with a part time job and no education in the works you'll be fine. Besides, by that point, you're folks would prolly be ready to run away or kick your ass out :D

That's the way I was. I'm a ripe 20 years old, and finally, after "toughing it out at home", I'm getting my own house *crosses fingers* soon.
I was like most everyone else though. As soon as high school was over, I wanted to get out on my own. I quickly learned that I really didn't have enough money to make it on my own right away, so I stayed at home for my freshmen year at college, which is only a short drive away anyways. I saved up a decent amount of money, and can now afford to pay my way through life. Plus my mom wasn't exactly supportive of me moving out so soon, so she said that if I waited a little bit, she'd help me out with some of the smaller bills I'll have. Lol, I couldn't argue with that, so I stayed at home.
It's not like my mom was impossible to live with, either, which makes staying at home that much better.
I must admit I can't wait to get out on my own. My advice is don't rush it if you don't have the funds right away. Otherwise you're just going to go broke in a few months and end up right back at home. Personally, that's something I wouldn't EVER want to do. ~

plus its healthy to move out at the "right time"... whenever that is for you.

Well, I'm 18 and my mom told me to pack all my shit 6 months ago, so I have. Shit's still up in boxes, except my posters. Which I won't take down until I officially move out in about 3 months.
I'm moving to have my own place for college, a cheap 1 bedroom efficiency. But it'll be MY place. I don't care if I don't have cable, no kitchen appliances, towels or anything lol. I'm just completely ready to be on and on my own.

At what age did you move out of your parents house?
Ya, im almost 21 and I still live at home. I make decent money, not quite enought to move out around here, even tho I work full time, I somtimes spend it wayto fast. But my main problem is I dont mind living at home, I got pretty much the whole basment to my self with a kitchen in the laundry room. Then my own room with tvio in it. I also have a back door in my room so I can come or leave through there. My parents are very loving, even tho they dont mind/like me smoking, they keep the out of sight out of mind attiude. Its not like I smoke it in my room or anything. I go right out my door. So ya I feel kinda old to be living at home but shit.. Its alot better then paying for a nice place around here. And I know plenty of people my age that are still at home.. so no rush, but pretty soon I will need to take that next step in my life..

At what age did you move out of your parents house?
Well, I'm 17, next year I'll be going to college and living there...so I suppose that'll sort of be moving out.
My parents tell me I'll still have a curfiew when I am home for weekends though. Legally, I have no curfiew, but they plan on keeping me in when I'm 20 years old? Right... I'll probably just stay at friends if I'm home for the weekend.
Anyways, I'm hoping to have a job right out of college. I may have to live at home for a while, but my job should pay pretty well, and I should be able to get an apartment or condo soon after.

Did your parents ask you to leave? That's really unfair of them.
Anyway I moved out at 18 after high school and right into the Coast Guard (lol, kind of ironic now!) so it was still nothing but rules, rules, rules.
But in the long run it made everything seem so much easier when I went to college.
I even moved back in with the folks voluntarily so save money during school, and again later when I spent a year saving for the down payment on my house.

i'm 19. I live at school during the year (i go home one night a week to see my dogs and do laundry). I think im going to move in with my boyfriend next year but my parents would still pay my share of the rent until i'm out of school. i think i'm really lucky in that respect. i get along with them better and feel better about myself when i'm not living at home though.

At what age did you move out of your parents house?
I was 19 when I moved out, I was itching to get out on my own and away from my parents rules, they were very strict. I think it was good experience, but it was a lot hard work with going to school and working. If I could do it over again I would have stayed home longer. Everyone one is different if you are motivated then go for it! I wish you luck.

At what age did you move out of your parents house?
I was 16 when my grandma (my legal guardian) called the juvenile authorities on me (I was 'incorrigible'). I went to a group home for a week, then juvie for a few months, then a foster family for a year and some, then I joined the Army at age 17, turned 18 in Basic Training. I have three sisters and a brother (I'm the youngest), and I think all of us were out of the house by age 17 or 18.

At what age did you move out of your parents house?
I was a month away from being 17 when I moved out of the house to go to college in Austin. But of course I still came home in the summers, and my parents supported me all that time. I was 21 when I got an apartment and left home for good and was 22 before I completely supported myself. I got married later that year, which was a good thing since we were both still in school and money was tight. It was easier to manage on two small incomes than one. Living at home was fairly easy. My parents were cool and didn't set a lot of rules, even for me. I know that at times, I was a major handful because I was such a smart alec. But they taught college and so were used to letting smart alecs roll off their backs.

Something my mother taught me before she died: it's better to be a smartass than a dumbass. That was a valuable lesson! ;)

At what age did you move out of your parents house?
I was 17 when I moved out. My parents drove me crazy. I love them to death and all, but they would drive me up the wall. I got my first job at that age, had it for 2 weeks, then I moved out. I lived in a basement suite for about 3 months, and the funny thing is, I only paid $85 in rent that entire time. I really don't know how I lived there for that long.
Then I lived in a partment for many years, then my folks retired, and offered me their house for a good price. I just sold it for twice the amount that I paid for it, and now I'm moving to Vancouver, which, by chance, my folks live in White Rock about an hour or so drive my Vancouver, so that buffer zone has went down about 1000km's. :p
