My good freind mobay brought me back some seeds last year from his trip to jamaica and a sample of the plant that they came from.This strain was wicked it was up there with the best smokes i have had.So we decided to cross pollinate it with a white russian male we had .We got around 40 seed that were worth growin out of 10 females we got we picked the best looking ,strongest /shortest of the 10 and cloned her . heres how they look now at 4 weeks they. went straight to 12/12 after they showed their first roots. we decided to call the strain mobay after our good freind so hear it is mate.:rasta: :thumbsup: :D this our first attemp at cross pollinatoin so if any experts out there can give me any info it would be greatly received i still have pollen from a mobay male and a white russian male that i have kept in the freezer but not sure if inbreeding is a good idea so help me out hear people i want to now the best way to go to stablise this strain we know this takes generatoins of plants to do this but are willing students to anyone in the know. be safe the postman.

give us a smoke report. You mite think about sending a pregnat post card to Alaska if you know what I mean.

So the jamacian seeds were an unknown strain?

Looks like a nice cross though.

AK-47 and White Widow are the cross that makes WR so maybe one
of those strains would stabelize the breed you are trying to make.
Im still learning about breeding myself though.

never thought about that yabatab intresting idea . yes the strain from jamaica was an unknown strain but maybe mobay could throw some ideas to the name . the jamaican strain smoked real well the stone was a very heavy head stone . the one seed we had was female and did not grow to tall but did show total sativa qualities but the pheno type we choose from the wr cross was small and compact just like the clones in the pics . does any other growers know if adding white widow or ak to the bunch will add to stablising the strain . be safe all the postman.

My impression is that you just grow a lot of plants, pick the two stongest parents with the qualities that you want, breed those, grow a lot of the new seeds, pick the best parents again, then breed those, and continue to do so each crop. This would be the method that a farmer uses to maintain a healthy crop with desired characteristics. The key to this method is to always breed the parent plants in a highly controlled setting so that you get zero undesired pollination from other plants. Then of course you can just use clones of the chosen parents to continually make seeds.

PMD... How many different traits do u see in ur "mobay" batch? I say pick the one or ones you like best and pollinate them with both the Mobay pollen and WR pollen.
Just keep tap on what branch you did the pollenation on, keep the pollen seperate from getting mixed in with the other. That way you could save time instead on cloning and pollinating them seperately you could do it at the same time on the same plant just on different branches/buds.
From that batch you could start to lock in to your favorite phenos, just a thought...

PS I dont think adding the AK or WW would do as good as the WR cause the WR was already been stabilized to become the "WR" both traits make up the WR so adding one or the other can just throw the traints off to being more towards the AK or more WW.

Thanks for that input phytokind .makes sense that idea.Buck just got the same input from a freind .He reckons(reckons being the key word lol)that if i use wr to back cross one of the clones and cross another jamiacan strain(we call it the queen) and cross it with the offspring of the mobay and wr then take the offsring from them and keep doing that then the strain should become stablised lol. man need some input from one of the expert here like zandor or latewood or bob anybody who could add some input here. heres a pic of the jamaican strain .i revegged her and took some cuttings and i have kep one as a mother i also plan on having the mobay mother and white russian mother to keep this going.be safe the postman.

Mr berrys was indeed a postman .but was a crooked one and lost my job ;) lmao.just kidding:D i was a postman for 10 years and had to leave because of illness but loved the job and hated fuckin dogs and xmas time.royal mail to mate.i will be posting this till harvest just to see all the info on breeding i can collect.buk . the stuff mobay sent was shit hot :rasta: and the first go at that strain i had was a heavy yeild and the smoke was exllent but not qiuite as good as the stuff i got from mobay .Gotta tell you mate that was some kick ass weed he gave me:stoned: .yebatab mobay is on vacatoin in some sunny climate some were lol or he has harvested those k2s and is lying baked at home:D :D but he will be back soon cause if he is away yet then all he will be thinking about is his plants .what nutes you people usin Buk,mrberrie yabatab im asking cause this grow i changed to the canna range ,terra veg and flora ,rizotonic ,boost and pk13/14 and i gotta say this stuff is working well for me i see masive differance from dr hornbys.these plants are only 5 weeks 12/12 on saturday and coming on great. any one else use or used canna nutes let me klnow your feeding chart just wanna compare with my own method.be safe the postman.

erm im using mother earth 100%organic veg tea and bloom.. o and i used a bit of baby bio on my first grow lol.. you learn from your mistakes.. i would say the ferts i use work well.. but i havent tried anythin else as i only have few grows under my belt.. was thinkin of goin canna nutes or dr hornbys sweet leaf sounds good mabe next grow.. i have to get some super thrive too as i have heard good things about it.. i love this hobby its the nuts:dance:

yeh man its theraputic growing our plant..dr hornbys is good shit but im leaning towards the canna range.i also use superthrive all through veg and the first week of flower.man baby bio i remember my first ever grow baby bio and miricle grow .you should have seen the state of those buds man all rusty and burnt ,but we all learn man.be safe.the postman.

Yo PMD I'm using terra vega and terra flora, cannazyme and early i use rhizotonic. Actually, we feed them every day, a controlled amount. Say 300ml, we increase and the plant uses more and more during veg. In flower, we feeds them every other day, a similar controlled amount. Say around 300mL also. I only had super minor nute burn in the very early stage of vegging. I think i hit them with the nutes too early. Oh well this is the first time growing for me.

So far i've got the ak, purps and some UL haze #2 seeds i got from dr chronic just sprouted, so i have 4 little babies of that too.

dusto im feeding by the chart and i am in week 4 of flower and one or two plants are starting to show a minor touch of nute burn
i also talked to a freind who said that the genral consensas was a ml per litre when using canna nute you ever heard of this .be safe the postman.

POSTMANDAVE...wierd, for cannazyme i put 8ml per gallon, for terra flora we put 18-19 ml per gallon. THis is off the back of the bottle. I don't see any detriment to the plants. I'm sure if I do, i will cut back the amounts slightly.

got one plant in here that is shown signs of nute burn ,which i cant understand. why not all the plants??it may be heat stress with the lamp too low as the affected plant is right under my 600 watt.have a look anyone any ideas.the lamp has been about 16 inches from the conopy but the temp here rose for a few days so it could be that.the postman.

Found this in a article this talks of the differant problems with following the instructoins on the back of the nute bottles.the postman.

Canna and other Dutch companies generally recommend even higher values. So the necessity of being aware of this formula is quite apparent. Although one really must ask how the plants should survive long term on values of 2,0 – 2,2 EC, most customers actually use such strong dosages in their grow because they are unaware of this essential information. The result is not only a waste of fertilizer in hydroponic set-ups. Plant care also becomes much more complicated and problematic. Regular flushings with water are necessary at such high EC levels. On the one hand the plants grow very fast (they stretch, get leafy, etc.), and on the other hand they develop complex symptoms of over- and underfertilization from the high salt content in the substrate. In the end massive overdoses of nutrients lead to a high risk of mold in the flowering phase, reduced levels of resistance against pests, lower yields, and possibly pose a health risk from radioactive traces in the cannabis (from phosphate).

Soil

For the cultivation on soil there is a common rule among cultivators to use 50% of the recommended dosages. Growers follow this rule without actually knowing what salt concentration they are feeding their plants with. For soil cultivation an EC meter is the most important tool to find out what the proper dosage is. This is why everyone who values their plants should not save on this rather moderate investment of 50,- Euros!

To demonstrate how important the EC value is we have tested 5 popular types of fertilizer. Only the fertilizer for flowering was selected because during this phase growers fertilize the most (after the motto: more fertilizer = more yield) and during this part of the life cycle plants become increasingly sensitive to excess salts.

Before we look at the results it is important to understand one thing: generally one should never fertilize more than 0,8 EC on soil.
That's why the first important step is to find out what the EC of your tapwater is. In this example we are using a 50-50 mix of osmosis water and normal tapwater to get 0,43 EC. Obviously, if you have a value over 0,8 in your tapwater you have to lower the EC value through filtration. For small gardens it´s sufficient to use a Britt Filter if you do not have the money to buy a household osmosis filter (approx. 150,- Euros). The Britt filter can reduce the EC value by 0,15-0,20. Another alternative would be to buy 5L bottles of mineral water when you fertilize. Good mineral water has approx. 0,25 EC.

Here are the test results on our water with 0,43 EC (measured on Hanna Dist 3 meter).

The amazing thing about these instructions is the inaccuracy of the amount to fertilize on soil. What does "less" mean? If we were to use the common rule and mix 50% of the recommended dosage we still get an EC of 2,0! That would lead to immediate symptoms of overfertilization. Even at 25% of the dosage we are still in the danger zone. With 0,5ml/L or 6% of the recommended dosage we finally have a safe solution! This example shows how important it is to have an EC meter at hand.

Terra Flores

it probably isnt pH cuz your other plants are doing fine, but i'd check it anyways... ill be reading thru my books, if anything pops out at me as to why this is happening ill let you know asap

the circulatoin is ok i flower in a large open space but as i said the temp did rise here dramaticly for 3 or 4 days so im thinking heat i also have 2 fans circulating air movment and a rvk exaust fan running constantly .the temp around my grow area sits between 73 and 80. thanks for that socks

PMD, so what are you gonna do? Lower you nutes? Are you in regular soil? So far ive had no issues doing what the bottle says. The EC....hmm i have no idea and am pretty broke so that is not a possibility. I am not gonna change anything. Why change if its not broke.

Yeah, there was a heat wave here last week or so and i can tell it did turn up some edges of the leaves. Temps are normal again so hopefully everything will be great.

dusto exactly mate why change it its not broken .each to their own .i am not going to cut the nutes back as my ec is 0,60 so i will leave it till next grow and try different feeding methods on a few plants i just got some power [plant seeds so im going to germ them and try get a male so as i can add that to the mobay strain to try and increase the yeild of this strain so i wanna get the nutes correct any way be safe all the poatman.

Stylus what i am aiming for is to creat a strain for my own use and for others who suffer from severe pain.that was why i choose the 2 strains i have used .the strain that mobay brought back from jamaica done the job but also left me unable to functoin as it just knocked me out .and white russian does the same job so now i have the strenth there im looking to increase the yeild and to try and keep the hight of the plant down .i am trying to collect all i can on crossing strains to help me understand the sience of it.From what i have heard so far this project could take years as stabelising a strain is no easy feat so all the help i can get from other growers will be greatly appreciated. i have another questoin for anyone who might be able to help.

The jamiacan strain harvested at 11 weeks and white russian at around 9 weeks so around when will the cross of both these strains be ready to harvest?I know that every grower has differant ideas of when they like to harvest but im asking this cause the mobay strain is 5 weeks into flower and by the look of the flowers they look if they will be ready around the eight week mark .So is this possible crossing a 11 week strain with a nine week strain and producing a strain that will be ready to harvest around the eight week mark.obviously i will be harvesting by trichomes but would like peoples input on this .be safe all the postman.

added pk13/14 today along with the canna terra flora and canna boost they are exactly 5 weeks at this stage the stink is bad this is one smelly strain it has a sort of lemony citrusy smell a bit to potent for my sense of smell so hope i can keep this smell contained as i can only see it getting worst.some pics for you all to see.be safe the postman.

If you really like the strain you are growing now then you could do a backcross to make that a stabilized strain. Backcrossing is a fairly easy concept but can be a bit hard to do. What you do is pollinate your female with your best male. Usually your best male will not be one that flowers early. Early flowering males do not have the best quality pollen. Make sure that the female you pollinated has clones alive and thriving. Take your F2 seeds and select the best male from that batch and pollinate your cloned female. Continue to do this. The rate at which the characteristics you wanted to keep from your original female will eventually go up until it hits 99%. That is the method that the Brothers Grimm used to create C99. C99 was created from a exceptional seed in a Jack Herer bud that was called Princess and a Cannabis Cup winning offspring male. What they did was continuously backcross until the seeds had a 99% chance of showing the exact characteristics of the original Princess mother plant. While some characteristics were lost in the continual backcrossing many where kept and the resulting strain was called Cinderella 99. The same method can be used for your strain if you want to keep the exact characteristics of your current plant. To get some really good info on breeding and genetics go to Breedbay. Also, check out the Marijuana Botany book and The Breeders Bible. Both give you great info. Hope any of this was some help.

Thanks for that info kush07.thats what i want all the links and info on breeding as possible . jdogg was explaing this to me and im starting to understand now. Before i done a bit of reading on the site that yabatab gave me i was planning to add big bud or powerplant into the flow . i have even ordered the seeds.now im strating to think the yeild looks as if its going to be ok.The jamaican strain mobay got was only one single seed and the original plan was to cross it with white russian wether it was male or female but it turned out to be female.so we only pollinated all the bottom buds on her as i wanted to have some bud for myself.So i reveged the original plant and took loads of cuttings keeping one as mother .but this time around the jamiacan cuttings look to be giving a good yeild so now we have decided to try stablise this cross then play about with crossing mobay with other strains in the future.
What i will say is thanks a bunch to all you guys who have added your:twocents: worth that it is deeply appreciated and i will be giving you guys first optoin of growing this strain in the near future( if any of you are intrested).i have already given some seed s to 2 growers on hear but they got damaged in transit ,my fault i may add ( sorry lads) but be assured that you will be receiving them as soon as they are available .
