ive got 10 female cinnamon plants these are early maturing from femaleseeds it says on the info for the seeds that you can flower after one week of germination
how can i tell if the plants are big enough to flower yet? they have been germinated for about a week
even tho they are early maturing is there a rough height they should reach or number of nodes so i know they are mature enough
i have put a few pics up for you to see taken today
you don't want to flower for some time i would say. They need to grow during the vegetative stage for some time yet before theyll flower. You can force them to flower by putting them onto 12/12 but your yield won't be great and the quality will probably not be as great. i would wait until theyre a substantial size bigger. If you leave them on 18/6 light hours then the plants will show u when theyre ready to flower. Little pistils will form at the stem and you can determine the sex, your should all be female but check anyways as you can sometime get a hemaphrodite plant and that could take ur whole crop down. Be patient with it, enjoy growing it and you'll get an amazing end result, if your not patient with it then your end product will reflect the way you grew it. Your plants are looking healthy so look after them and they'll reward you lol. Good job dude.

dude what kind of light are they under? they startin to looky a bit stretched but hell no man wait for like another 2-3 months and get them a decent size b4 you flower i know its a long time to wait but it will be more of a payoff then flowering them at that age... if you flower them now you have a very high chance of most of them turnin out hermie..
yea i see wot ya sayin peps im usin two 125 w envirolights i only got em a few inches from the light how an i stop the strecthin
i know regular plants you should leave but these seeds clearly state that they can be flowered on 12/12 after one week of germination ive done an exact copy of the info that comes with the seeds:

with normal plants i would leave for at least a month or two but as you can see it says you can flower after one week in veg from germination

I don't see that those are early maturing. They look like seedlings to me.
You have to wait until the nodes go opposite.
1 week of veg time is for clones in SOG, not plants from seed. If you flower those right now they aren't even going to show sex for a WHILE. Plus giving young plants too much red light too early can influence sex exression.

Blue is good.
Sex predisposition is in RNA but final expression can be influenced by things like color of the light, moisture,nutes, etc.
If you want the highest possible % of females with the genes your seeds carried, you keep them under the blue spectrum light.
dude, they are probably good for early germ. if they are grown under a HPS or MH from the get go. Floros are slower
dont flower yet.... wait until u have 5 nodes at least and if possible some nice secondaries forming. How much light r u going to use for flower? If 250W like u have vegged with then u might need some more watts to cover 10 plants well.

it would be handy as you can see other people are saying to leave them and one bloke says the one week thing is for clones aswell

Plants shouldnt be flowered until at least 6 weeks...why??? easy ull see the yield and quality at the end....specially if u have them under a small lummen output lamps such as fluoros...the spectrum is also important im not sure if what stinky wrote is correct but i can say that a blue spectrum in the veg cycle is more then welcome (altho some ppl go all the way with hps)....to make a long story short veg cycle is crucial to the final result of ur bud quality....happy grow m8
Indeed, wait untill you have a few more nodes yet, and wait untill some of the secondry shoots are growing. When you put it into 12/12 the secondry growth will bush out. These will all be bud sites.Quote:

I have done experiments with all phases of vegging times and ...see above.
If you have clones then you can veg as little as 2 weeks.
Now since clones take the age of the mother...they can be flowered at 1 week, but understand that is 1 week of veg after 2 weeks of rooting; And, they won't yield diddly. take the extra time and do it right.
If you rush or shortcut any stage...you will not be happy in the end. good luck
Sure, the spectrum should be predominately blue, but all blue? I'd like to hear more on this because I don't believe using red spectrum in the blue phase, as long as there is blue spectrum being used............. would affect the plants sex so significantly.Quote:

i put the mango into a dark cupboard at night for 12 hrs
because i have the blue light lower down than the red its making the bottom shoots of the mango flower out a lot more but its still growin nearly an inch a day in height
they looking good so far il put an update on here on a new thread in a week or two whe they get bigger

The above is not a "must", some growers have their plants all the way with one spectrum usually when using HPS bulbs, some growers use a new sort of lamps wich puts out a purple spectrum (blue/red), some use a mix of fluoros all the way through out the grow making sure that in the dif cycles they use more of a type of specific spectrum....

Im grow area is about 3 feet high and my plant is nearing the top of the cabinet......its been about 2 months since it seeded and has been pruned once....its still in its veg. state
If I were to flower starting next week how big would the final plant be?? would it grow even larger?
Additionally, could I leave the daylight bulbs in the cabinet for the flowering stage and still produce a good yield? Would it encourage more growth if I left those lights in? What are the negative effects of using a 5300k bulb for flowering?
it would be aprrox twice the height of the cab if it hasnt been topped or trained in some way.

IMHO, theres no such thing as bad light.
there is, however, such a thing as good light.
i dont want to get into a discussion about what is better than what, im sure we allready know that. you just have to make the best of what you have or can get.
AFAIC keep all the lights you want on it as long as you can controll temp and air circulation, blue, red, both, whatever!
Now, I am quoting from a book. Best time to flower is when the plant shows you its ready by moving from veg to pre-flower under 24/0 or (better) 18/6. In the beginning, the plant developes nodes, with branches appearing in the middle space. After a while, no new branches appear but pre-flowers - experienced growers are even able to tell the sex in pre-flower. Then you switch to 12/12.
Of course, if you don't have the space... Hm. As far as I recall, mostly indicas will double their size during flower. Sativas are impossible to grow in a cab without pruning and training, which costs even more time.
I just completely burned one of my mostly indicas (long story, don't ask - just one of those days). They are now 3 1/2 weeks from seed, 2 weeks under a 400W HPS - last time I use that for veg, by the way. They are growing fine, but too much heat plus immense electricity is just not worth the trouble. They now have 6 nodes and develop their side branches - where additional bud will be placed eventually. My girls will get another 2-3 weeks of veg, probably, and then be sent to flower. I rather invest another week if necessary and get better results... but that's just me. :)
Well from all i´ve read so far i can´t really say ... all i can say is that a bunch load of ppl do it with very nice results, altho i dont really know what is the female ratio per plant seeded...i allways assume that a plants sex has to do with genetics (appart from hermies) and not the light spectrum ... :D :DQuote:

well to be honest i dont think it makes a huge difference with what colour you use there are reccomended ones for the stages as they best represent the natural light conditions for that season
either way i have both a red and blue on mine through out both veg and flower
oh and in respect to what the thread was originally about i emailed femaleseeds.nl and they got back to me and said that the plants can be flowered from one week from germination but due to my low light levels they recomend giving them 2 - 3 weeks veg and to top/prune them to get a better result but they said it will work fine either way
there coming on well so far they already have secondry nodes coming through at two weeks from germ now
il put a update on seperate thread with pics soon so peps can follow rest of the grow along with my other plants untill they finish
