Red eyes, but no high?

Hey,
My mother has glaucoma and she can't sleep a lot of nights. She gets maybe 3-4 hours of sleep a night, with the occasional 8 hour night.

Last night i got her to smoke weed out of a glass pipe i have. She smoked a whole bowl or a period of an hour. Her eyes were bloodshot, but she said she felt fine and that "maybe she was the type of person that Marijuana doesn't affect". She took one or two hits a few days ago, but that didn't really count for anything.

So i'm thinking either she wasn't doing it right or i just have some bad bud(Can i post a picture of it?). Does one bowl do it? She keeps telling me she doesn't see the appeal of it. I just want to get her in that flying zone, maybe even a little higher. What should i do?

I always believe that a person should try weed 3 times before making an opinion on it. The first two times seem to have little effect on the user. So, get her to smoke again, and use a little more. Just see what happens.

I don't know. My second time I got stoned and almost pasted out.

And it wasn't like it was back in the good old days, where your tripping out, it kinda felt like being drunk, but more in control. I thought the weed was bad or maybe it didn't work for me. But i must have built up a resistance or something.

dude, fuckin...smoke atleast 3 bowls, and if that dont work get a bong...if shes willing to smoke get her high...if everyone tryed it there wouldnt be any anti drugests

Get her to smoke until she starts to feel shit, then stop. By the time you start to feel the herb, you should have smoked enough to get nicely stoned... you know with that delay between smoking and feeling.

bust out a gravity bong and tell your mom to close her eyes and just breathe, but i didnt get high till my third time, and then i was over the top

ya i didn't get high or trip the first time it toked or took shrooms i think it has something to do wit your bodies ability's to produce nerutoxins but once you do it a couple of times you sorta build up a reverse emunity to it....sry if thats confusing i don't kno how else to explain it

Though there is some evidence out there to support the claim of tolerance. It is possible, theoretically, to build up a tolerance to THC, but it's temporary if anything.

The reason you don't get high the first time you smoke (only some people, mind you. I got FACED the first time I smoked, so...) is because it's difficult to really Get high. Allow me to explain..

When you smoke, you have to realize you're high. You don;t really see it all of a sudden, because it's a mental change. THC is an agonist- it mimics the neurotransmitters your brain already produces. The high occurs gradually, and it's a change of state-of-mind. The human brain does it's best to accomodate and adjust to anything it experiences. So, when you smoke, your brain tries to remain normal. You don't suddenly FEEL high. You have to kind of look for it, introspectively, and you'll REALIZE you're high.

So, by my calculations.. You DID get high the first two times you smoked, you just didn't realize it. If your mom wants to smoke, she will. If it will help her (which it will), then tell her that. show her the evidence. but don't force her to, if she doesn't want to, man. Not cool

I could be DRASTICALLY wrong on all this. I just got off 10 hours of waitering, and I'm high as a MOFO. But whatever.

I think the body has to get used to THC before it really takes effect.

The thing now is that she's over using weed, so i'm out of luck. I can't really force some or anything on anybody especially my mom. I'll always suggest it, but until she comes around, i don't think anything's going to happen.

that's probably because the weed wasn't very good.

When I started smoking it took me three separate trys to finally get high. Though the â??realizing your highâ?� mentally definitely plays a part (learned this all too well with salvia), I think you also have to learn how to smoke it right. A lot of people when they first start out hold it in their mouths or throat. At least that's how it was for me. Best of luck. ;)
