Vaporizers. A little guide.
Vaporizers A Mini Guide
I thought I would share a few thoughts about vaporizers having owned 1 for a long time and researching about them. There seems to be a few threads about them usually asking questions.
So 1st things first.
Vaporizers are the most healthy way to use cannabis (among other herbs). Of course eating cannabis is healthy for the obvious reasons (no combustion), but it is very difficult to control the dose.
Vaporizers are much more efficient compared to most other ways of injestion. Compared to a joint which loses most of the active ingrediants through the process of burning the herbs. Since you only use what you want it saves alot of money (trust me I have halved the amount I have used).
There are 2 types of vaporizers. The 1st and less efficient vaporizers use conduction to heat the herbs. This is a less efficient way compared to convection. Conduction is where heat is transmitted to the herb through contact with something hot (namely a small metal plate/bowl).Convection is where heat is transmitted to your herb by heated air flowing over it. Convection is a much more efficient way to heat the herb because it heats the whole of the bowl of herbs compared to conduction which heats the herbs which are in direct conttact with the heating plate.
There is so much choice in the vaporizers world it can be very confusing to get want your after. The cheapest way to get into vaporizing is by making a "light bulb" type (there are many guides on how to make them). This is the cheapest way to vape if you make it yourself its free but you can buy them ready made for about 15 quid ($30) if not less.
http://www.waytoomany.com/vids/weed/homemadevap.php
Another cheap way of vaporizing is by buying a cheap vaporizer that uses conduction to heat the herb. The most famous conduction type vaporizer is probably "The Blue Meanie". These vapes are obviously more expensive than the light bulb vape. Retailing for anything between 30 and 60 quid ($50-$100) Heres a few examples of conduction vapes.
http://www.everyonedoesit.co.uk/onli...&iLastCatID=12
The next up is a cheap convection vape. These are much superior to any conduction vape there is. I would personnally never buy a conduction vape. I have tried many and have been disappointed everytime. Examples of cheaper convection vapes are the Vapureyes (www.vapureyes.com) I have this one and am very happy with it, it seems to be underated or totally forgotten altogether. Another example is the Vapolution (http://www.vapolutionvaporizers.com/). The cheaper convection type vapes start at about 80 and finish about 200 quid.
The best has been left for last, it is of course the Volcano Vaporizer. Everyone that buys this vape is bound to be bowled over by it (literally lol).
www.TheVolcanoVaporizer.com
Probably the only flaw with the Volcano is the price about 550 dollars. A lot of dough but worth it if you have the money.
When buying a vape set yourself a price limit and consider these points-
# What is the Warm up time?
# Does the Vaporizer come with a Warranty?
# How efficient is the Vaporiser? (conduction vs convection)
# What type of heating element does it have?
# What does it look like, how big is it?
# Of Course Price
# Type of vaporizer: Convection or Conduction, forced air? bag system?
Where to get a Vape?
Online there are many websites selling Vapes.
A few examples are:
www.ebay.co.uk
www.everyonedoesit.com
www.vapouriser.com
www.vaporwarehouse.com
www.grasscity.com
So there it is. There are vaporizers for everyone the cheapest being very cheap and the most expensive being alot of money. Convection wins over conduction everytime and if you have the cash to buy one you will be rewarded many times over.
Questions or Myths?
Will using a vape save money?
Yes it should do if used correctly because it only releases the active ingrediants and because there is no combustion all the active ingrediants are left unscaved by fire. It is also cost effective because it is very easy to control the amount in the "bowl".
Does it give you a different high?
That depends on herbs that you use but many vaporizer users prefer the high to that of traditional methods, saying that it doesnt produce the couch lock usually associated by smoking cannabis.
Why is it more healthy?
Thats simple because it doesnt burn the bud it doesnt release any smoke or carcinogens associated with smoking. Cannabis needs a temperature of between 180 - 200° C. This is of course a much lower temperature than smoking bud.
I think I have covered most points on vaporizers but as this is a guide I would be more than happy for others to chip in there 2 cents.
Hope this helps atleast someone.

Something I learned about my vaporizer recently is that you shouldn't let it collect in the dome before inhaling. As my friend told me, and as I've confirmed, letting it collect into a big cloud rather than inhaling as you go will cause much of it to collect on the sides of the glass as resin (which is not collectable so far as I know).

Thanks man, I'm looking into one of these for college. :)

Hi there just thought I would mention that if you have a glass dome/jar then I little trick is to let it build up and wipe around the sides with a cig paper or put wodka in it and heat it up and drink the vodka. Have never tried either option but heard the second one works very well.

Greetings Justin!
Just like to say bredrin fairplay to ya.A very good guide to an excellent choice of smoking. Thanks for taking the time to write it as I am a big fan of the vapo(mainly because I've blacked out smokin the volcanoe .TWICE i might add lol!)Great experience though, yuo just cant get higher in my books anyway.
I agree with ya on the volcanoe though DAMN is it expensive. I will own one someday soon, but intrested in the cheapo ways too.I made one before just outa a heat gun and a glass pipe it was hard to get it just right and after a few it gets a bit lethal in my hands lol.
Anyhoo thanks again lokking forward to trying a few lol or not.
Jah bless.

Hey, I own a vape myself. Its sooo worth the investment!
I got mine off ebay from vaporstore.com. I managed to get it for about $100 for the hands-free deluxe model. Trust me, if you can afford it, always go for the hands-free model. The difference is that you can attach the metal bowl to the glass heating part rather than having to hold it. Thats not a big deal, but the bowl itself is many times larger than the non-handsfree kind.
Also, I've tried two kinds of vapes- mine and another vaporbrothers kind. The vaporbrothers has a metal heating coil (and is not hands-free), mine has a ceramic heating coil. I have found the ceramic heating piece to heat up much more uniformly and to be much easier to keep at a specific temperature. If you can, go for a ceramic heating part!

Justin, thanks so much for the info!
Could anyone describe the difference in the high?
I'm interested in the Volcano vaporizor. It's pricey but I love mj and don't plan on quitting ever! So it seems like a worthy investment.
I'd love to hear from some volcano owners!

question: if i vaped a bowl in my room, would my parents smell weed?
and also, after i vaporized it, would i still be able to smoke it later and get any buzz? or maybe roll joints with used weed?

Seriously, man... all your questions can be found at vaporinfo.com, no joke.

As there is no smoke and therefore tar the smell doesn't linger. If you inhale it first then there shouldn't be any smell after 10 mins or so. It sort of looks like smoke but is very fine and white - the vapour fades away as you breath out.
Yes! You can smoke the weed afterwards.
Depending on the vapourizer (efficiency) you will have some THC locked up - mostly in denser buds or if it wasn't broken up/ground well. The weed sort of looks a little sun burned ;) but you can smoke it.
I have used it to replace tobacco in joints  and also I used it as a potting mix in my grow.
I have smoked it on its own - not brilliantly strong but it does give you a couchlocky/body stone if you smoke vaped weed. Depends a lot on quality, how you grind it etc etc though.

i made a light bulb vape and used that a few times but never got blazed off it. how efficient is that compared to a nice one?
-

Fantastic guide, man. Looks like you spent a lot of time and effort on it, and it seems like you know your stuff. I'ma go try the lightbulb right now. I'm also really interested in trying a good convection vape (never knew there were 2 different kinds!).
Lots of good info bro. Really appreciate the contribution to the community.

Cheers for all the gratitude. Just thought I would add my 2 cents about the smell with my vapureyes it has a bowl with mesh in the bottom and under the mesh there is a lightbulb which heats the bud. If you dont clean the vape for a few month it really starts to stink of vaporized weed which I find is a very unpleasent smell.
So if when I turn it on without the jar on it you can smell weed alot I got caught out that way.
BUT I have used my vape blowing out the hits in my room and then someone come in straight away after I had stopped and they didnt smell a thing I she knew I was getting high lol.

you forgot one of the cheapest most portable hot air(convection?) vaporisers. I have one, it works well. takes some getting use to with a candle, but even and idiot (or a really high person) could do it with a heat gun.
www.dominizer.com
20$ cad for clear glass, +$5 for ccg
nice guide though!

i have a volcano and i would never smoke again vape always!

i agree with you all the way man- vapes are healthier... BUT i find doobs are much better, theyre more of a social thing where you can chill, pass around a spliff and just relax and talk, i also find the taste of non-vaped herbs much more flavourful, that might just be because i use a test tube from science class (works great!)

I don't know what the hell you guys are smokin ;)
But actually, I have tested the theory that vaped weed will get you high and it is NOT TRUE. I had a friend vape a bowl of weed and then I hit it, nothing happened whatsoever (I hadn't smoked at all that day). I suppose it really depends on how many times you hit the vaporizer. Obviously after a few (depending on bowl size) pulls, you will have vaporized all the oils on the bud. Thats how a vaporizer works. You'll notice after hitting it even just once, the buds become half the size as when you put them in because the hot air is taking all the moisture and THC/cannabinoids with it.
Seriously, while weed does not seem to cause cancer at all, it can still cause someone to have higher chances of developing asthma/bronchitis etc. The tar in a joint is no less harmful than in a cigarette. When you smoke vaped weed not only does it do nothing, but it defeats the entire purpose of a vaporizer. Lol you just end up smoking the bad with the good.

Vaporizers vaporise the weed, forcing the THC to be released in vapor. By inhaling the vapor you inhale up to 95% pure THC (percentage varies, of course).
Vapes, when used correctly, will get you "fucked up".
I had just a pinch of month old weed, put it in a homeade vape, and definitely got high.

Hi thought you might wanna read this:
http://www.vaporinfo.com/the-vapir-vaporizer-review.php
Also as Jaycub pointed out if you vaporize weed there will be no THC in the bud afterwards. Obviously that depends on how long you vaporize the bud for. If you just took about 10 huge hits of my vape there will still be THC in the bud. But if like me you vape until there is no vapour coming from the vaporizor then there will be no THC.

I am seriously convinced that the volcanoe is the best. I don't have enough money so I am settling for a vapolution.com vaporizer. They use the conduction method but employ glass on glass rather than ceramics or metal heating plates. Through this company the unit, tubing, car adapter, ac adapter, and fittings are all included with medium and large bowl sizes. The bowl is glass, the heating element is glass, and you can buy a glass mouthpiece and it is an entire glass vaporizer! it doesn't get much cleaner than that.
The whole package is $125 shipped from No. California. I am ordering one by the end of the month.

Vaped weed, IMHO, should not be smoked. I tried it in my glass pipe and it tasted YUCK! However, I find it makes great brownies! And yes, they do get you high. I love my Vapor Brother's! $139 at discountworldonline.com. Kids, get a vaporizer, it's worth every penny!

Two more thumbs up for the Vapureyes. One advantage of this unit that should be mentioned is that it is easily self maintenanced. Most parts can be bought from a local hardware and replaced without a lot of fuss. Once I managed to find the right power supply (from across the pond they originally sent me the wrong one), I stopped searching for anything "better" (including what I'm guessing is a considerably more proprietary Volcano).

Yo mate that isnt bad. I cant remember where I read it wasnt bad. If you think about it that isnt in your lungs. If you dont clean yr vape for a long time then it will only be a bit sticky.

This is how smell less my vape is. I can sit in my room all day toking off it without a smell. The only smell problem I get is because the weed I use is super smelly when I get it out the weed stinks the room out for a minute or 2

Load up once per hour and feed 2-4 tokers...
Yeah I love the fact it pretty easy to get all the parts for it.
The jar is pretty much a standard jar that you can get anywhere.
The power supply is easy to get hold of.
The light you can buy from the manufacturer.
The metal chrome thing that holds the mesh is a standard plumbing fitting.
The only thing I cant seem to find is the tube that you toke from. I no you must be able to get it I just cant find it and mine has been used alot over the past year.
This is the only question I have - How do you clean yours? I can clean the jar, the mesh, and chrome bit but I want to clean the bottom chrome plate that is stuck to the vape, I cant get it off.
Have you found a way to totally dissaemble yours?
