Yikes - I'm right on the edge of being busted!!!
Hi bud fans, I just joined up today after a search for Irish based MJ forums.
Now onto my issue:
I've been growing some plants outdoors over the summer and I must say they are doing rather well. Over 6 feet tall and very bushy. 9 plants in total, 1 in the ground and the other 8 in pots.
What's the problem? well I've just been spotted by some workmen that are rebuilding the roof next door. They had to access the front of my garden to put up some scaffolding and about an hour later I saw 5 of them gathered around my lovelies admiring them... my heart sank, I knew they knew exactly what they were. I was hoping to get away with "Mexican peppers" or "Spanish tomatoes" or some such but these lads were smiling away. Damn and double damn... what to do... what to do...
Any advice?

What could anyone say they ll tell someone id bet but who knows ?. Good question. Id feel preet y paranoid if i where you so what do you intend to do leave there?, lets face it like i said they ll probly tell somebody else so expect ur garden to be raid maybe not by the police but by somebody wholl want what you have. thats the risk you take with growing in a built up area. all i can say if it was me id be shiting for a number of reasons you dont know for sure if they tell someone wholl try and stael them or maybe one of em would ring the cops on you because there jealous that they havnt got any themselves where they young guys ???. if so id watch ur Ass
what else can be said either way id say ur in trouble!!!
in ur situation id get ride because someone bound to try and break in....
By the way is it ur house or ur folks whats the story there i wouldnt like to take that risk why didnt u grow rem indoors for gods sake u would nt have this problem never grow in built up areas because even if a kid lobs there ball into ur garden someone would find out
Bad luck mate

I'm not in a city or town but I do have a few neighbors on my country lane. I'm renting and I don't think I would be here too much longer if my landlord heard the big bad "D" word. I wouldn't be too concerned about my landlord or neighbours actually seeing the plants as I grow a lot of other stuff in my garden such as flowers and veggies and they would easily buy the "Mexican peppers" story.
Actually I hadn't really intended growing any plants, I just popped a few seeds in pots to see how they would do outside in the Irish climate. Well it's been a very good summer by Irish standards so the plants have been doing great. I should have pruned them to keep them short and that may have helped to keep them hidden.
They won't start flowering till sometime in September and harvest would probably be early October. This is too long too have that sickly paranoid feeling.
So I've got to move them on. After talking to a mate that lives in the area, he has offered me a spot in his garden. I'm going to move them later tonight under the cover of darkness and thank feck he has a van.
I'll have to pop over to his place about twice a week to take care of them. Pity I really enjoy coming out in the morning and seeing them. At least I don't have to end their lives early!

Very nice plants there Head
Did you feed em anything?. It goes to shoe how the outdoors can have some real advantages over indoors. There beautiful and happy looking you deff have a green finger/hand there mate best of luck with the move. Its the only way to handle the situation. Im sure those guys would have or will tell somebody about those. i hope theres enough good weather left to finish them. If your mate has a shed start puting them indoors for 12 hours at least that way you can force them early the only problem with Ireland is our winter sets in pretty quickly and from what ive heard Mold outdoors can be a problem given our high Humidity climate but again wonderful JOb. Well done so far
I wish you all the Best. D

I feed them alright but nothing particularly special. I believe in keeping it simple and cheap though a bit of the right type of care and MJ flies. Watch how it uses water and give it just enough that it's never ever waterlogged. Watch the leafs and respond with nutrients, about the only special precaution is magnesium as it really likes this and in Ireland there is a lot of hard water which can block mg takeup in the plant.
I thought my main problem outdoors would be bugs and other then bites on the leaves there has been no real problem. I was expecting the greenfly to go a bit mad as there has been loads around this year, the feckers like my veggies though.
It's a pity that flowering and harvesting is so late outdoors in Ireland, mold is a real worry and I've seen the devastating effects it can have on late fruiting veg, it knocked out my pumpkins last year. The spot I had to move my plants to is a bit damp as it is close to a river. Would love to get them going 12/12 but I just don't have that option, though I do want to see how they do over a full cycle outdoors in Ireland.

Ye, Cool i ajust my water with phos acid, ive a meter and test each time i water usually comes out of the tap 7,5 to 9ish which is too high indeed so by adding the acid it brings it right down. i water mine at 6,8 ish so that takes care of that for me. well as said they are lovly and green im still getting to grips with the hole feeding thing even do ive been threw it a good few grows now depending on the strain i either over feed or under feed, ah sure its all a learning experence
take it handy D

Nice one Bredrin,nice one!
Someonethat knows their herb. They'er looking mighty fine.I like your motto "simple and cheap" and if I had a spot like that I would do the same.my water stays at about 7 but I always have probs with chlorosis freaks me out but never seem to get mould although I expect it cause its gets severe sometimes.I've had a suspicion that it might be the water even though its 7.Reason being its looks like mg def.
Is there any chance you might move them inside?
but to see them go full cycle... woooow yeh baby!big buds.

Kongo, i think its the water here, i get the same look of my plants too looks like Mg def as far as i can gather like i said above i test and ajust my water and feed my plants but still get the limeie green look off them i m using Bio Bizz light mix this grow and last and im noticing it again im starting to think ive no green fingers at all lol. ive been watching my temps very closly and humidity plus like i said good seed ajust water foods and still encounter that liming of the leaves at around 4 too 5 weeks so im working on the idea that our water is truly unhealthy out of the tap... im covering so many things that im running out of excuses as to why i get the same problem ech time even changing strain s dont help. i dont think its over watering as i always alow my plants to dry out before i water of course depending on the temps /pot size and so on ah learning all the time i just gets to be a pain in the ass when time after time no matter what i do i get to a stage then my plant s just go limie in colour,, with time i'll nail it. Aldo like you said if i had a nice spot outside id prefer to grow in a green house with fresh air and more room to work with. theres always issiue's..........
TAKE IT HANDY hEADS d

Yes mon I ear ya!LOL! u got the green fingers alright ya growin ya smoke, can't get greener than that haha!
It seems u ave the same probs I do aldo I ave a vent lettin fresh air in.When I started my second proper grow though I used volvic all the way cost me a fortune and I still ended up with chlorosis but my temps were'nt the best so who knows.
The learning kerb is a great one eh Rastas?
Yikes - I'm right on the edge of being busted!!!
I hear ya Man, ah sure its all good. Hopefully with time or at least by the time im old and grey i'll have it covered,,lol
take it Handy D

Hey Kongo, ya sure about chlorosis? I'm not completely sure but I thought chlorosis would kill the plant off pretty fast given that the condition involves the plant not being able to make any energy for itself. Try not eating for a few days and see how you get on ;)
You mentioned using volvic and I just remembered something about a hike I was on a few weeks back, we had drank all the fresh water we had brought with us and when we got back to the car there was an old half full bottle of volvic in there, I started drinking it and then noticed some green algae stuff in it... not a nice sight just after glugging down some of it... Now what I wonder is if this expensive water could have a detrimental affect on your plants?
Another thing you could try is folar feeding the plants if you think they are not sucking up nutes from the soil.
Take it easy
Yikes - I'm right on the edge of being busted!!!
No you can get chlorosis and the plant will continue to grow at slower rate.I tried all yuo have mentioned but all my ladies would eventually get it.Leaves would have brown spots which would spread throughout the leaves sometimes bad but not always.
I would just remove the affected areas.Had a bad experience with foliar feeding so don't know about that.If volvic is left lying around it does go off something to do with the plastic or omething.I always used mine immediatly on purchase.I think maybe the chlorosis was caused by stress had a few probs as I said so it coukd be as simple as that.

wow there amazing ... id bring in one plant indoors and finish it so if all else fails at least youve one gone to bud.
as for water and algae ... i dont know much about growing but i know everything possible about tropical fish haha and algae in the water isnt a bad sign, the worst it will do is bring down the oxegen levels in the water, and algae wont grow in bad water so its normally a good sign. If you left the algae too long or in the dark and it died then it would start rotting and cause nitrates which is bad for fish but from biology class many many years ago i remember plants love nitrates but duno about herb loving nitrates ud probably know best there.
so my next question .. whats your exact address and when will you be out at work haha :P fair play to you

Wow excellent plants! I wish I had that much luck my first grow. My probem I'm in a corn field (Once was tobacco), and the soil is sand. Literally all sand. Sucks but next year I'll bemore prepared.
Those are some really healthy happy looking plants dude. Hope they turn out.

That's a nice grow that ya have there deadfrog. . . .
Excellent work bro. . . .
Hope ya see them to fruition,, and enjoy the rewards. . . .
Peace. . . .

Hey thanks Hicksey and Notech
I'm incredibly curious to see how they do and I'll keep you lot updated.
The move caused a small amount of damage to some of the side branches as the plants had to be laid horizontal in the van. Their new position limits the light on one side as they have had to be pushed into some bushes to keep them hidden. Also it's kinda damp due to the area being overgrown and near a river. On the plus side I may have the opportunity to move a couple of them into a greenhouse around flowering time and at least by then I'll have separated the girls from the boys.
Take it easy.

Good to hear the move went ok as for the damage im sure they'l pick back up the green house may be vey handy given the way the weather is already starting to turn. The days, aldo i havnt measured them are getting shorter dig time now so flowering wont be long.
Best of Luck, Drought
