When do you think Cannabis will be decriminalized?

This is just a prediction, but I say Cannabis use will be decriminalized in most of the US in about 5 years for medical and recreational use. I'm just talking about certain amounts for personal use, like a few plants or a few ounces of dried bud - that doesn't really cover distribution laws.

Most people I talk to think it will be longer, but there's not many citizens who are opposed to it - it's mostly just the FDA and government's bullshit holding up the process. And our drug laws are so screwed up compared to the rest of the world.

Well with all these videos coming out with shockingly true evidence (to the blind part of America that has been following the government) it's only a matter of time until half of the U.S. population see these and realize they've been lied to by hypocrites and the righteous shall overcome :D.

The answer is money, yup it is all math, but 5 years sounds right. After all as far as the U.S. is concerned it is already happening on a state by state basis.

Illegal drug dealers and the DEA are close partners and maybe even in some case close fiends. Shoot, they maybe even the same people. Remember the Iran/Contra scandal? You know the 80’s when an ounce of pot was $500 or more and an ounce of coke was only $200?

Without the dealers the DEA wouldn't exist in its current form and without the DEA drug dealers wouldn't be able to make a profit. When the DEA (Or any law enforcement agency) makes a bust I am pretty sure they get cash for continuing the cause and/or bonus money/s. The dealers can then keep their prices high because of the diminished supply. They LOVE each other.

This will only stop when someone comes up with a plan that shows the American public we can make BANK on the licensing of pot smokers.

Roll into a conservative church going community and tell them you have a plan that will not only put money into the towns’ coffers, but will locate and identify all the towns’ pot smokers so they can keep their kids away. They just may bite.

What I really wanna know is what is the future of marijuana in the country of U.S. when those 7 patients die out that is receiving medical marijuana joints from the government.

Absolutely not 5 years.. I can't believe anyone could think public reactions could change that fast..

Maybe within 5-10 years some serious thinking will be done to consider it, but until weed is decriminalized on a national level, it will be a long time. Decriminalization by state has already started, in my state its only a $100 fine for posession of up to 25 grams.

Once more states continue to take steps easing up on marijuana, I would say that the rest of the states might follow along once the people realize that the other states aren't having any negative reactions because of pot decriminalization. Time is all we need. As for now, they haven't stopped people from using pot...ever. Just be careful and don't let the wrong people know about what you do and you should be good. One day we will be able to smoke in public without being frowned upon.

Ok not trying to sound like an ass but five years come on, being optamistic is great and all but that snever going to happen. IF it is legalized which i think it will to some extent, its going to take 15 or 20 years, or until some type of liberal is elected into office (as president). I just dont think it going to be a real priority until they realize they cant keep locking up pot heads and the jails all get overcrowded, moreso than now. oneday the budge will crack and they will have to say ah fuckit, mr. bush jr. please pass the doobie.

Who will win the next election. If its another stupid repub, it won't happen. The right uses drug laws to control the left. Do a little research on the creation of the scedule system. That was all Nixon to control the hippies. Then you have Reagan, Bush and now the current Bush all rocking out the no drug programs hard, even if its not what the people want.

I think it all depends on the success of the current "above the influence" campaign (which is retarded) and the outcome of the next election. The only other chance we have is some super wealthy company realizing how much they can make off of it and buying it into law. SO very sad.

Lets talk here for a minute... :D ook soo.... Here's how i see it, The "baby-boomers" are still in office or still in Presidency... I dont think it will be totally legal or all states having medical use untill the baby boomers our out of goveremnt. On the note i dissagree with the statement that we need a liberal in office... Thats not true either... One of the biggest reasons Cannabis is not legal is because Bush is fighting a "War on Terriosm" and a "War on drugs" in my state of IL it is decrimilized to a certain amount and medical use by a doctors note is allowed... And for my last opinion is that i think itll be legalized when half the states legalize it for medical use like 26 states or soo... :thumbsup: and happy smoking..~!

it will be a big step for the decriminalization in nevada this november hopefully. And then other states will hopefully follow their steps.

Its being decriminalized in a lot of major citites in America where police agencies are making it their goal to take the harder drugs off the streets and temporarily forgive or lessen fines / punishment for weed possesion. Milwaukee is not one of these sadly and we have some of the most strict laws. I got a ticket 2 weeks ago fucking camping in the middle of the woods with no one around, smoking in my car during a fucking thunderstorm and the ranger gace me a 250 possesion ticket for less than a half ounce and he also gave me another 250 for paraphanelia and took my pipe which was still smoking...I bet he just torched that shit after he was done with us.

My friend got pulled over in a town here in oklahoma, had k-9 unit search his car. Spent about an hour or so searching and found one seed. Possession of marijuana: $175 +court costs and other bullshit fees. For a bloody seed.

Definitely not in five years. It doesn't matter if the Democrats control the government or the Republicans, they're both vehemently anti-drugs (except the legal ones like tobacco and alcohol of course). The US probably won't let up on weed until damn near the entire industrialized world has. I'd say there's a pretty good chance it will be legalized or at least widely tolerated in Western Europe in the next 10-20 years, and maybe Canada too depending on how much they're willing to defy the US government. After that I would guess that Japan, Australia and New Zealand would be next, then maybe the American government might feel enough pressure to give in and legalize it too. But I estimate it will take a good 40-50 years at least before that happens.

The pharmacuetical pain industry is worth multi billions of dollars.

Medical marijuana is a threat to that industry the way they see it.

Its all about market share and shareholders and corporate growth.

If I threaten your multibillion dollar industry what will you do to stop me.

Everything.

Corporations control the FDA, the FDA says what is approved or not, The DEA gets its policy from the FDA and well funded powerful Pharmacuetical lobbyists that regulate laws of the industry.

They will not give up market share in the pain industry easily.

It will be decriminalized when so many people join MPP, NORML and SAFER that it goes to a referendum of the people at a federal level the way they are going after it at the state level.

Anything else is wishful, and useless, thinking.

My boy Chris was arrested in NY, Yonkers, for possesion of MJ and boy oh boy did he face a bigger punishment then a 100 Dollar fine...

He didn't tell me how much was on him before he went, Im guessing over an ounce because he faced bigger then 100 Dollar fines.

If Nevada and Colorado legalize this year, there will be great changes very soon. Especially Nevada, because they'll be growing the stuff on a large scale. It's impossible to say exactly what the nationwide changes will be though.
