Miracle GROW - FYI - the conversation

I have contacted miracle grow several times regarding the PH of their soils..

there response is a joke....

I am sorry I am unable to get more specific than what I have already stated. The pH of our soils, manure
and composts is a range between 5.5 and 7.5 The pH of these organics will change as soon as the
consumer uses them. The types of plants used, and the type of water they use (city water, rain water,
well water) will all change the pH as soon as they contact our product.

I would suggest if an exact pH is required that they visit their county extension agent for help with a soil
test and recommendation on amendments to change pH.

What a joke. Also, some of their soil mix's contain timed released nutes which can really mess with plants.

7.5 is pretty high, not to mention the range is absurd. Well as always you must sacriface quality for quantity.

If it's all the local stores have, I say use it. I used moisture control MG on my first grow, no problems. Taste, maybe could have been better.....but my friends say I no taste, anyway.

have had multiple grows with no problem using moisture control mg.can't complain about something i had no problem with.

i have had a couple of grows with miracle grow and they all went well. One time i even had a couple of plants in MG growing next to some in foxfarm and the mg outgrew the fox farm they were all planted the same day and given the same nutes and watering and sun. How ever even after that i still belive their are far greater soil mixes then Mg, Amature growers have broken down marijuana growing into a science, weed needs the proper Ph for maximum mineral uptake but Mg can still be used :)

That is almost blasphemy! MG outgrew super(expensive)soil?

WOW you people are a bunch of skully wags, I dont care how good you are at growing and I dont care how much you know about soils and fetilizers.I use Miracle Grow soil and nutes and this was my first grow and I got 3 ounces from 1 plant.Not alot but for all the bad talk on Miracle Grow I think its pretty funny how you sit here and say how bad it is but really it isnt bad at all.

So for those of you that want to know if Miracle Grow is bad or not the answer is NO, it cant be all that bad if my plant did perfectly fine and I used florescent lighting so put that in your pipe and smoke it.

No hard feelings but again MG isnt bad at all,I will continue to use it for the rest of my grows just because I think its hilarious how people talk bad about it and I can show them pictures of my grow and shove it in there face's.

sorry, but you are uninformed ... fluorescents grow just fine ... a grow journal on HG420 just the other day had colas the size of my forearms, grown entirely under 1000 watts of fluoros ... I've used them for over 40 years now, with outstanding results ... my current grow is my first with a 400-watt HPS, and so far, I am not one bit impressed, in fact, tomorrow, I will be adding a couple of my 48" tubes to help the HPS along ... fluoros ROCK ... :dance: ... P.S. getting back to the subject, I do not use Miracle Gro Soil, but have used the plain MG fertilizer for those 40 years with absolutely perfect results ... in fact, I have never had any nutes problems until I recently got talked into that "Organic growing" crapola ... I'm going back to MG next grow ... :smokin:

Are you kidding me ??? Florescent lighting works just has good as all the HPS lights.Ill show you pics of my plant while it was growing I might of deleted them tho,I may have some left of her flowering MAYBE.But I dont have to prove my self because I know that when I used it it worked just fine so no need to prove it to you because I already know for myself.

the soil I have used was closer to 5.0

It was the moisture holding/3 month nutrient... MG soil

What about their flowering ferts? I know a gal who bought some of their 0-52-0 (I think) stuff and it seems to be working out just fine so far. Has anyone had any experience with their flowering products?

their ferts are more reliable than their soil.. much more reliable..

I have attatched a picture of a single plant grown using CFL lighting that produced 3 ounces + of dry herb... : )

It was the easiest grow EVER.. and the book is coming out.. so you can replicate the process.

Well, I dont disagree that MG can produce some fine bud. However, I look at it this way. I am a big beer fan. When I brew my own beer, I have a ton of choices in what ingrediants to use and their quality. No, if I just wanted to get drunk and not really care about the finer points of the beer's taste, this can be done cheaply and easily. But if I want that refined special taste that shows how much time Ive invested, it costs more money and takes more effort. If you want the best product you can get, that doesnt just get the job done but tastes and smells amazing while doing so...then you need to use a better soil. MG is just not made for a plant your going to smoke. Just because your bud is huge and crystally doesnt mean its what I consider good. Ive seen awesome bud that tasted like shit. To me...taste is far more important then quanity or ease of use.

...the man does like to go that extra mile.....

im using miracle grow ( "moisture control compost for pots and baskets" if anyones interested ) an i think its fine, good even.

i dont doubt there are better pre-mixes or home made soil combos for a second, but its certainly not the poison that it gets made out to be.
What people forget is that MG is a very versatile soil, aimed at a very wide market, so while its good for most types of plant, its never going to beat a soil designed for a specific species.

to use an analogy, fitting a high power sports car with £45 tyres work fine if you drive on the road and keep to the speed limits. if you want to go round corners faster you need a more specific sport tyre.

also, i cant see whats wrong with the MG reps responce, all they can tell you is the ph at the time of manfacture, which, as they rightly point out, is liable to change once its been stored for any length of time, or gets anything added to it by the consumer.

i thought it was a very helpfull and informed suggestion to check the ph at local outlets if ( unlike you average tulip growing MG customer ) you have more precice ph requirements.....lets face it, if your realy so concernd about decimal points of ph, you shoud be making your own soil mixes anyway.

I think the point is...One can grow nice plants with MG, but one can grow much better and more potent plants using nutes specifically developed for growing a specific type of plant...cannabis will grow by itself..that doesn't mean I want to smoke it. LOL

Man I am spoiled due to great genetics...I won't even smoke crappy weed anymore...I would rather go without.

The stuff she has is MG, 10-52-10, flower booster that claims to feed two ways (through the leaves/ root system and is guaranteed not to burn when used as directed.) So far she seems to like it although she usually tries to keep it off the leaves.

Is she wasting an opportunity here to deliver max ferts or should she keep it off the leaves/buds?

If she decides to try it on the leaves/buds wouldnâ??t there still be time before harvest to flush off all the resedue?

I am not sure I understand the question..

BUT.. I don't thnk foilar feeding is neccessary..period.. so I really am not the prson to ask..

...definitley keep any liquids off the buds.. that includes WATER...
for a couple reasons.. one, you don't want t contaminate your HERB and TWO cause you don't want to risk molds or fungus..

She was more concerned with the contamination not so mush moisture because this plant is outside and weâ??re consistently seeing 100+ days here :cursing: .

Well Knowm i never used MG before but, an experienced and reliable grower i as i know u are (dont ask me why i just knowit lolll) i must say that of all the threads and posts i´ve read in this forum (and they were loads) this is still one i keep as a main reference .............
