but anyway.... this shit is so gay...
i can barely surf the site due to the banners every 2 posts and 4 threads... along with hte fact that the server is constantly busy now. and heres the FUCKING kicker... some times when i click a cann.com link to a thread or board/// it takes me to gay ass herbalsmokeshop. spamspamspam thats all that shit is. if it persists im prolly gonna leave the site.
please tone down hte advertising thanks

c.) a load error... just a white screen and it says (done) at the bottom of my browser.
i am on the same awesome computer and same browser and the same internet (2mbps according to last benchmark test) as i was before this shit started happening.
and for the record these ads are NOT popups... they are redirect functions.

I haven't had any pop-ups, or banner ads, etc. distracting me, but I run an anti-spyware program (SpySweeper), and I strongly suggest everyone gets something similar ... no worries here, but lots of websites use malware, programs that are BAD for your computer ... just do it ! ... as to "missing the old Cannabis.com", hell, I miss the 1960s !!! ... I guess we will both just have to "get over it", 'cause history has passed us by ... :smokin:

Look, I love it here. I honestly do. But you know what? I honestly think the owners are milking this place for every dime they can...Ron kept it chill on the advertisements, you know? There was a banner on the top and bottom of each page, then you could go to look at ALL the site's sponsors...I signed on 20 minutes ago and here are ads every few posts? What the...

to tell you the truth, i dont have ad blocker and im still fine...i dont have random ads popping up..or no redirecting, to herbal smokeshop...i dunno man

The ones inserted the middle of pages can be deceptive to those that are accustomed to ads being on the bottom. They may not realize theres another bunch of posts below it.

Better to plaster the ads on the top, bottom, and sides(minis) of the pages. Bulking them in the middle is a drag.

The experiment with more ads has netted a negative result...some tweaking would be appropriate.

Here's my take on the situation. So the site has a few more ads than they had, big deal, lifes not fair. They're not distributing spyware or anything, just some on-page stuff, nothing that will harm you're computer (that I've seen at least). Everyone who's making a really big deal about it hasn't paid anything to use this service, but they feel like they're owed something simply for visiting. We all know they make money with the ads, but we're not talking bill gates here, just a couple pennies for looking at some stupid adverts. I don't want to see anyone leave over some extra ads, but if you feel that the entertainment value you get out of this site isn't enough to match your investment (sitting down and reading), then you're not forced to visit. I'm not telling anyone how they should act, just sharing my :twocents:

To join the chorus of concerned cannabis members, it's not the ad placement that bothers me so much. It's the content and web-site work.

It looks sloppy, no elimination of borders on the row with ads. If you going to have ads between postings, at least center it.

Also the content makes cannabis.com looks like a C rated site. There are viagra pills everywhere else on the net. Sundance, have a bit of integrity. Get advertisers that at least are related to cannabis or have a little class. Even the fake buds ads are more appropriate than get sex in _______.

If you goal is to be content on milking the site, keep it the way it is. If you want real growth, seek advertisers with some legitimacy, like food for instance. If you can convince up-start small businesses to advertise their products on cannabis.com, right here you have munchie-induced potheads who are hungry. Not to mention it'll be one very small step towards getting rid of the stigmata about marijuana, but it's a step needed none the less.

Plaster how many ads you want, most don't mind. It's the quality of the ads that bother the resounding majority.

I have noticed the site is getting back to its regular load time.
But those adds are still crazy, the fact that they are smack dab
right in the middle of a thread now is weird. Yes, yes, the add
muncher I know, but people just signing up to the site might see
the big commercial adds all over the boards and get discouraged then
decide to go some where else. It just don't look right, its like seeing
a toothless trailer park girl in a wet T-shirt contest.....its just not right.

dont try to trick people into thinking the ads are topics by making them look like topics. dont advertise for legal bud. and at very least if you are going to sell a shitload more ad space post a sticky beforehand informing us of it ahead of time and explaining why. lastly, get a clue

I'm sure that the OWNER of this site realizes that he needs your approval to make changes.......must have been a slip. Who should get the clue?

I truly do believe it's the hot weather, P4B. It makes tempers short and anger flare. Crime goes up in response to it; clearly temper tantrums do, too. Then factor in several people's strong feelings about ads, which baffles me since anyone who uses the Internet isn't new to ads. The surprising thing to me about the ads here is that there weren't more of them before now.

I'm starting to notice a pattern here that cycles about every month or six weeks. When I first began lurking anonymously in March, things were smooth. Then in April there was a little uptic in disharmony and flames. That settled down in May. A little rise in flaming again in early June, once school was out. Then peace again until the last week and a half or so, when I do think tempers have been unusually foul. I myself was short with Beachguy yesterday or the day before, and I regret that because he's a good guy. Beach? Are you out there? My apologies for having responded to you curtly. I don't think Beach would have normally been that way with me, either.

I guess I find reassurance that the pendulum will swing again in the direction of peace and harmony. And even that it'll swing back to the dark side, too. School's fixing to start for some of us in a couple of weeks, and that'll probably unsettle us again. Ultimately, I'm guessing the rough patches probably strengthen up the top-grade folks and weed out the schwag.
