I think it's a possibility. But I don't think it's too late.
I think it's the mindframe that a lot of people have, that there's no hope left by now so we might as well all say 'fuck it' and do whatever we want, that's causing most of the problem in the first place.
o fuck yeah soon as the sun burns out were done, no more life on this planet
Actually our sun will swallow Earth long before it burns out.
Otherwise as much as I have little faith in the human species we are tenacious. I think we'll be fine overall barring a catastrophe like a moon sized asteroid nailing us. Think about how much we've accomplished in that last 200 years, Imagine what we'll have done in 400 years.
that all depends I suppose. On a great many things. I wonder whether evolution is a process which can be consciously invoked?
Thats a damn good question Poly.

We can only hope that it happens before the aliens find us... 'cause if they do, that'd just be fucking embarassing. :o
"We can only hope that it happens before the aliens find us... 'cause if they do, that'd just be fucking embarassing."
I just spewed coffee out my nose! brilliant, just brilliant!...lemme catch my breath....whew, okay....truer words were never spoken! ..lol
...but if it doesn't happen soon; within the next couple hundred years, and we manage to get off the planet, it's going to be pretty hard to stop us. We're cosmic fleas of course. I just hope nothing starts scratching at us.
The reason I ask is the way things are going at the moment its not looking to good.I personally think we'l be lucky to get through another 50 years.Pity though we live in such a beautiful place in time and space it seems such a waste. Its all about money and power not love and humanity towards others.
Hope my grandkids get to meet the aliens lmao!
Wait a minute, didn't Jesus teach that you're supposed to care? Why do people blow past the good stuff in the 'spirituality' whenever they dive into the dogma?
e_e So let's all forgo any efforts of preserving the planet. Let's abandon reason and do whatever the fuck we want to the earth, just because some prophecy says that it won't matter anyway.
People like you frighten me.
By 'not caring', you're contributing to the problem, IMO. Not trying to be presumptuious, but I don't think Jesus would be too happy about that.
I wasn't trying to be mean, but you did just say a few posts ago:
I couldn't care less what happens to the earth.
And that kind of attitude scares me.
Well, sorry I misread ya then. No hard feelings, I hope.
It could happen but were too much lkike humans, maybe the sun will destroy us and everything esle.
I think it has become quite obvious recently that we are slowly reaching a critical point in humanity. This is due to the imbalance our species has created on this planet. It is this imbalance which is causing the natural disasters and spontanious weather. I personally think it's too late for change (in regards to our ecosystem) but as stated earlier, humans are an intelligent and adaptable species if significant change were to occur. I will emphasise that we have to be more conscious and realistic because I see human rights and basic common sense take backseat to human weakness too often (eg greed power lust, manipulation)
You're all doomed !!

People have been predicting the "end is nigh" for thousands of years. Never seems to happen (psssst all those biblical prophecies were supposed to have already happened according to many , many , many prophets before our modern time. As have every single polytheistic and monotheistic religion predicted "the end is nigh" None of it ever comes true).
Glad you dont just give up , but I wouldnt hold my breath waiting for Jesus to intervene. Good on you for donating to Greenpeace however they can be just as misguided as alot of religious zealots out there(although they certainly have balls especially in regards to the french and japanese). We need to temper our resource wasting and concentrate on the betterment of all mankind instead of pipedreams. Also cut down on the greed, no one but someone who works in the woods needs an SUV and no one but the military needs a hummer. Everytime I see someone driving one of those deathtraps I chuckle to myself thinking "theres someone (as psycho jokingly refers to) who deserves a Darwin Award. :).
Anyone who claims to predict the future should be exposed for the frauds they are , especially con artists like Sylvia Brown(e) and Co (John Edwards or the vague meanderings of Nostradamus....)
"and Lo before thou seekest the ire of the gods, tempt not the fates for east shall rise and west shall fall" (thats sufficiently vague to fit something in the next 1000 years or so methinks....look im a psychic! or a prophet, whatever floats your boat :)).
Every species seems to come and go. Some last longer than others, but nothing lasts forever. Humans are a relatively recent phenomenon, jumping out of trees and striding across the land around 200 000 years ago. Will we persist for many millions of years to come, or are we headed for an evolutionary makeover, or even extinction?
(psst..extinction. for sure.)
Post humans are on the way. In the works! Post humans, or "transhumans" are genetically manipulated and superior humans. Increased intelligence, strength and the ability to live for much longer. Combine these traits with cybernetic enhancements and humanity's tendancy for self destruction and there u have it. The first transhumans are already being grown and will begin to replace us within our lifetime.

I read something about what we could expect in the future and they believe cybernetics is the way of the future. Even memory from your brain could be stored making one "immortal" in some senses.
The Sun is classified as a main sequence star, which means it is in a state of "hydrostatic balance", neither contracting nor expanding, and is generating its energy through nuclear fusion of hydrogen nuclei into helium.Quote:

beachguy in thongs
I don,t man but what I learned in astronomy is that when the star has burned almost all of its hydrogene located in the center of a star ( creating helium)the thermonuclear reactions move to the exterior causing the expansion of the star
It will die growing beachguy read the whole of the information no star lasts forever....(as always love your posts though). Email any astro-physicist , in fact email Hawking , he responds to his email as well.
Oh and Euphoric I love the cyborg stuff , very interesting read.(back to work for the week :( )
Stars die all the time. We need a backup-star.
