when or how will i know if my seedlings are male or female?

I started two pruple kush seeds a month ago and they are 6" tall. What do I need to do to find out if their male or female?

Start them on 12/12 lighting, and they'll start to show signs ...

Once you start to flower them

Do I flower all the way threw or flower till I see signs then put back into veg if female? Or if female take cuttings at first sign?

Unless it was selfed?

When your seedlings are ready to exit the long days of the summer and go into the flowering phase and you set the lights to the appropriate time then thats when you will start to see the sex of your plants.

once you switch to 12/12 keep it there..i would let it get to 12" before i flower...thats just me...

all depends on if you want bud sooner.isnt kush really potent?

I don't know how it works all together but my buddy had 6 seeds from his p kush harvest and gave them to me so I'm assuming their p kush right? But the question still remains. Once I determin the sex,if female do put back into veg or take cuttings once determined? I wanna mother the strian if female

Ah ok if you're willing to keep a mother then you have many options. What I like to do is grow out the seed, send all the plants to 12/12, kill males after they show, take clones from all females (recording which initial female they came from), and put those clones (back) into a 18/6 or 24/0 cycle. Meanwhile, I grow out the initial females to harvest. While growing out this first run, I perform no topping, trimming, etc. I want to see what I have to work with, "raw". At harvest, rate the females for the important qualities. Find the best plant(s), and then designate the corresponding clone plant as a mother.

Since you are working with bag seed, you want to grow out as many plants as you can, to increase your chances of finding a "special mother".

There are other ways to do things of course.

Good thing you already know what strain you're using. That will help you. You might be able to do some research to see what favorable traits peoplea are finding in that strain. That way you'll have an idea what to be looking for.
