It's not just you, they are the greatest and in the world!
I'm very excited about their new album, "A Matter Of Life And Death". I heard the one song they've released, The Reincarnation Of Benjamin Breeg, but I thought it was pretty mediocre (not bad, just average). However I remember when Dance of Death was released, which was one of their most amazing albums, and Wildest Dreams was the first song they released and made a single. Wildest Dreams is by far the most boring song on the album and the only one I skip, so I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing is happening with the new first single.
i saw them live at ozzfest 05
Me too! I saw them last summer in Seatle, most amazing concert I've ever been to by far :)Quote:

I would have to agree, they are some of the best musicians. I have all there album covers as 4 foot by 4 foot banners. I guess you could call me somewhat infatuated.
ive seen black sabbath at both ozzfests i went to, and i saw judas preist at ozzfest last year right after Black sabbath. and the next year i went, it was sabbath and maiden.Quote:

Greatest band ever man.
one of the all time best. the difference between maiden and sabbath and judas priest is that maiden can still rock and don't have any old decrepit members.
Maiden didn't do many drugs did they???
I love Maiden.......
Its good to see other "pot heads"(if you may) like Maiden as much as i do!:stoned:
one of my old roomates had the 3 disc DVD set and we got real stoned one night and watched them all till like 4 AM.
Sounds like a good time!
i saw sabbath and iron maiden at ozzfest. here is the bottom line about that show. sabbath is a better band(not to take anything away from iron maiden, i would say this about almost any other band there is) but their age was really showing. i mean ozzy looked like your grandfather would in a black wig and sunglasses if he was playing a show. he just stood there holding the microphone for dear life. still a great time though. and fucking ward looked like he could honestly just die at any minute.Quote:

back to iron maiden, they are great. and i could not disagree more with the dude who said they might put more into their lyrics than music. i find it to be the opposite. the songwriting isnt bad at all in fact it is a little above average but they always have fucking great riffs. i mean the band has some of the best riffs of all time. here is what i mean. bob dylan is a man who in my mind puts lyrics ahead of music. maiden is the opposite.
dopesmoker do you listen to SLEEP?
they are very very good one of my favorites definitely saw them in 88 excellent show sound was absolutely perfect. Steve Harris is awesome player
Black Sabbath are the greatest heavy band ever so far me thinks, Pantera second. Gotta love that groovey stoner metal!Quote:

Iron Maiden are still pretty shit cool, im just not to into that triplets riding on horses of steel power metal stuff! lol
they do rule
Man, I must be the only one who hates Maidan, and Priest. I hate them and they suck, so there. :D
I used to like Iron Maiden back when they weren't old geezers.
Speaking of Judas Priest, anyone remember back when everyone thought Rob Halford was so cool with all the leather, studded wrist bands and shit? Funny that it turned out that he wasn't dressed for the concert but for the "leather bar" he'd hit after the show.
Anyhow, I still like the old Priest stuff. Songs like Breaking the Law, You've Got Another Thing Coming, Hell Bent For Leather (LOL), always make me think of the good ol' days back in High School.
Sabbath was the best of the old metal bands though. Everyone else just fights for 2nd place.
that is an awesome painting. pantera is not stoner metal

Thats an amazing painting.Quote:

i only ask because they are like more stoned sabbath but good and have a really long song called dopesmoker. trust me buy sleeps holy mountain and you wont regret it.
normally i wouldnt argue here but it is an actual genre of metal. and smoking doesnt make it that way. if elvis said smoke dope and had potleaf lights the music would still be the same. stoner metal is like hmmm. it is like really heavy trance music with a huge sabbath influence. if you have heard sabbaths electric funeral that is like the only song i can think of that you might have heard of. dont get me wrong i still love pantera dont get me wrong. really putting things into groups is kind of pointless good is good, but i wouldnt describe them that way myself. anyway i too have seen that video with the potleafs where they bust into new level that is fucking badass.Quote:
