Noobie on the block check ma setup
Hey i'm new to growing & planted 24 seeds at the start of april 12 ice & 12 northern lights. After seperating the males from the females ive got 6 left.
What do you think of them there was a gap of about 2 weeks between the planting of some of the plants.
I kept the males going under a seperate powerful light 2 experiment with but they were frazzled by it has any1 got any tips so i can grow more cuttings under that light with out frying my plants.
Any tips etc. would be a great help Cheers.

what kind of light are you using?
what kind of soil?
-
Noobie on the block check ma setup
the mediums cannacoco
they are under a 600w powerplant light with winged reflector
males under a 1000w powerplant with slightly bigger winged reflector

also is it true that if i dont put a fan on them they are liable to snap under their own weight? i found they fell over alot as seedlings
-

If your using that powerful of a light my only guess is that it's some kind of Lowryder strain? Meh. That's crazy lol.
-
Noobie on the block check ma setup
yeah those plants looking kinda lanky....yeah u want to use a fan to build strength...you can also tie the branches to give more support.....
-
Noobie on the block check ma setup
yea man, i asked you what light you were using because your plants look lanky and i dont think i've ever seen a plant with ONLY a top cola (nevermind a big cola like that).
You plants dont even have secondaries showing yet, AND only have like 4 nodes.
i'm actually amazed at what i see... must be genetic.
The one all the way on the far back right only has two fan leaves and then a big main cola. i cant believe your plants can hold theyre own weight.
They wont hold that weight for long... especally since those main colas are gonna get heavier and heavier. You need to get a little desk fan and have it blowing on your plants. Make sure its on the LOWEST setting.
Goodluck :stoned:

That looks like some HUUUUGE stretching.
You need to take your lights down so that they are close to your plants. Well, you should have taken the lights downward a long time ago. Maybe there's still some salvaging that can be done.

Hey Apostle,
I think 600w is too much for cuttings cuz they got no roots yet and they can't transpire. Try using Compact Fluorescents (CFLs) or even tube fluoros. For one thing, the light is like mellower and the plants don't have to work so hard. Plus fluoros are way cooler so you can keep them down close to the plants. I'm using strictly tube fluoros atm and I try to keep them 1 to 2 inches from the tops.[attachment=o76981][attachment=o76982]You just have to keep raising the lights, but the plants don't have to stretch up to the light. Just my opinion

Apostle,
I guess I should read before I answer. ;) If you want to use that 600w for cuttings and it's too much light, maybe try indirect light. Never tried it, but if you had the light on or near the floor pointing up towards a flat white panel that is above your tray of cuttings, the reflected light would be way less intense. The heat would also be directed away from the plants. Adding a fan to blow the hot air away would help too. I don't know if it will work but you could experiment on cuttings that aren't weed so failures wouldn't be so costly. Good luck

600w is too much for cuttings, they're not strong enough.. they need something weaker especially cus of the weak undeveloped root system..
but.. whats up with those plants??? did u flower them from birth? can u give me details on your process? that shit looks amazing.. they're so small n the headie looks awesome!

I'm happy to see your plants grew some type of buds on them, but it looks like you grew the seeds 12/12 light cycle from the start. On your next grow, try growin them on a 18/6 light cycle for 1 month to 1 and a half months. Then put them on them on the 12/12 light cycle untel harvest time  . This way your plants will be a lot bigger and a lot more Buds :p ...

I think the reason they've got only fan leaves and main colas is the strain ... I heard that lowryders will do that ... and he said they are.

I grew these from seed in early april the smaller ones a few weeks later. So they are about 4 1/2 months old. How do they compare to the size of other plants at this age? I've been suggested a few things to do with them as well which are....
a. Repot them with the stalks deeper so the colas aren't so high.
b. Use netting so its like thai stick.(i'm unsure on what to do with this though)
c. just prop them up with sticks
what do you think off these.
PS.
heres a little break down of what i did
1. Put seeds between damp paper towls under 2 plates in a warm cupboard.
2. After germination planted ice seeds in jiffy peat pots & placed in propagator.
3. Watered a little bit when the humidity got down
4. They seemed to stretch loads at this point realler fast some of them fallin over so i uses cocktail sticks to prop them up.
5. Planted a pack of northern lights about 2 weeks down the line using same process.
6. As they got two large for the propagator & roots be gan to show on the exterior of the pots i put them straight into large pots with cana-coco
medium.
7.Used a timer which after 2 days fused on so i removed it and have been turnin the lights on and off at irregular times generally about 15 hrs a day.
**I've also been using formulex nutrient solution in moderation from time to time.

man your grow is awesome.... its hurting my head thinking how a 600w light could make your plants stretch like that... wierd.. the pics of the plants i posted were under a flouro!!... can you send a pic of your light ... and maybe an update on your ladies......

Sorry to say this but your plants are very very small for their ages. With the material and time you had, you could of had plants 4 times bigger with more buds if the strains are truly ICE and NORTHERN LIGHTS. I have seen one ICE plant grow more bud then you have now. But with what you said u did to the plants, you have more then what you should of had :p . Try this on your next grow: When the seedlings pop, put them in the pots you have and put the lights as close as you can without buring the babies and VeG it on 18 hours of light and 6 hours of darkness a day. Do that for 4 to 6 weeks. In the last 3 weeks of VeG, you can use a fert @ half dose @ 20-20-20 to promote growth. Then flower them by put them in 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness everyday for just alittle over 2 months. For the first 5 weeks of flower, use a bloom fert @ half dose @ 10-52-10. For the last 2 weeks of flowering, flush the plants with nothing but water (NO FERTS) to clean the plant of all the chemicals. Trust me, Your plants will be much much bigger. Myabe alittle to big for you :p . I know you are still going to have a good smoke with those plants you have there. GOod Lucl on your next grow or anything you decide to do  ...

meh well all i can do is hope i get something off this grow. I'm gonna start some new seeds off. Any ideas for an easy high yielding strain for it? i'm thinkin i'll try two strains the same as last time using a timer this time so i have a definite light cycle. I'll post a grow log as i go. Do you think it would be possible/worthwhile to get a cutting off the plants i have now?
-

hmmm yaknow i think lowrider would be great for you for some reason

Here is one ICE plant that is near Harvest, I know you dont have these types of lights, but with the proper VEG time, your plants should get this big (minus the bud size) NO pass Needed :p : http://gallery.cannabis-seeds.cc/dis...lbum=61&pos=63

Here is more northern lights piCs, I'm here to motivate  you can do it:

Its good to know you are getting a timer for the lights, but one question for u,
where did you get your seeds from?

Noobie on the block check ma setup
The seeds cost 12gpb for a pack of 10 & came from the nirvana seedbank. (non feminised)
& i just found the pack the other plants are bubblelicous not northern lights which are apparently short plant (as short as mine i dont know :D )
It says that those plants in the first pictures were grown using a 400w hps. I have a 600w hps lamp not being used at the minute but it seemed to burn my plants & turn them yellow (i had the males growing seperately under it to experiment with).

This is the case the bulb was in

what light cycle would you reccomend having my plants on now

That light you have there will make you a really happy grower. For VeG, you still need only 18 hours of light and 6 hours of darkness for 1 month. And 12 hours of ligth and 12 hours of darkness for flowering until the plants are ready for harvest. With that light you have tho, you will need a cool tube so thast your plants dont burn to death. Or you can use a fan pointing at the light to keep it cool. Most people us their HPS lights to Flower but u can also us it to VeG the plants, but since you already have the big fluo lights from the first grow, you can use those for VeG. Try to put the Fluo lgihts as close as you can to the plants without burning them to keep them from stretching. 600 watts is some big power there, but it will make you happy :p . Here is a nice piC of some Bubblicious, I plan on growing some also on my next grow in about 1 month  :

thanks for the advice i'll switch them over. Can i reuse canna coco from my first grow which had males in it to plant my new seeds in with out risk of pollenation or more males growing?
I'm getting some more seeds tommorow so i'll start a new grow diary so watch this space.:D
