ultimate smoke/trip room.

hey everyone, kind of new here..

I am a sophmore in college, and am required by my school to live in the dorms yet another year. Some bullshit about being outside the commuter distance, and also unable to be exempted, I am left with no choice.

However, I have decided to make the best of my situation. I am living in a single room, and have decided to make it my mission to make the absolute best smoke/trip/chill room, we (my friends and I) smoke quite a bit and trip on mushies time to time, and have come looking to everyone on these boards for any suggestions, I'm sure at least a few of you have had to make do with your living situations and was wondering what your rooms were like, what kinds of setups you had, items that were helpful/fun. things that aren't worth the money, etc.

Posters of your favotire bands and sports teams and stuff, mini fridge, MOVIES, you gotta have hella movies and music... And... A floor-safe, with a minimum number of keys to keep your shit in, in case you get searched
(I've heard them called fire safes too... it doesn't have to be fancy, just with a lock and not easy to break into)

A disco light, videogames, a nice soft couch you can relax on and a lazy boy with a mimi fridge built in! That would be awsome have all your munchies right next to you, fuck gettin up

^^^that stuff and a strobe light would be great. Try and get some of those blacklight posters and put them all over your wall. Also, a mini fridge and microwave is a must!

I already have a mini-fridge, microwave, nice assed futon, and quite a collection of media- tons of dvds and an itunes library of about 30 gb flowing through my sound system.

You should totally go to a place like a Thrift Shop that sells furniture, and just buy like a cheap love seat, and a cheap recliner. Having places to sit is a must. A nice television/sound system is a must, all the stuff that you have is good. Also, I would get some incense just because it rocks, and video games, and some of those posters that react to blacklights, and black lights....

Hmm, that's all that I can think of.

please, please don't watch TV, movies, or play video games when you're tripping. That lame practice has got to stop. That's not what tripping is for.

Or at least limit yourself. Even when stoned, what's the use of all the electronic shit? Whatever happened to the great outdoors?

Music is okay though.

As far as the room goes, I recommend getting some large, wall-sized tapestries, maybe some blankets and/or rugs with interesting patterns, such as a native american style. A nice rug would be really cool if you can get one cheap. Having lots of things made out of cloth is sweet.

If you play music, then always keep your instrument(s) on hand.

hmm what else? For tripping, never underestimate the power of reserving a place in your room for meditation. Cushions (called zafus) are not that expensive, and you'll be glad you made the investment once you need a little spot to chill, trust me. Maybe I'm just weird, but I think your body will find it to be the most natural sitting posture at times when you need to turn off your mind for a while.

Try to get one of those black and white lights that flash amazingly fast and make it look like everything in slow motion i fuckin want one of those for my room but never seen one maybe orderable? fun tho also get a lot of weed flavored incence

Abstract paintings, Compfy and fuzzy stuff,black light,strobe light,hookah, mirror,itunes visualizer,cat or dog thats fuzzy. I don't know i'm high and i'm just naming things that would be fun to have right now. O and a funny friend

I'm gonna be in pretty much the same situation as you greenhorizon (2nd year at UCSC, gonna be in a single). The suggestions people have made are all great, and anything I would list would just be redundant, so instead I'm gonna throw out some suggestions as far as security for your room goes.

Here at Santa Cruz, despite our reputation as being one of the highest schools ever, the CSOs (rent-a-cops essentially, they patrol the campus at night) and the RAs can come down on you really hard if you're caught. I know this from experience, I almost got kicked out of housing for being dumb enough to get caught smoking/drinking several times in the dorms.

So, if the situation at your school is like mine is at all, you gotta make sure that someone can walk down the hall by your room and not suspect a damn thing. For this, I recomend several things. One, hang a tapestry or decorative blanket or whatever over your door so that it covers it completely. Not only will this stop any smoke/smell from getting into the room, it muffles noise so you can turn the music up higher. Also, make sure you have a fan placed in such a way so that it facilitates air moving in and out of your window instead of just cooling you off. Sure, hot-boxing a room is cool, but if you don't want to explain to your parents why the school kicked you out, it's stupid. Finally, make sure you cover the smoke detector with something that will both effectively disable it, but also something you can take off instantly and that you won't forget about. One of the times my friends and I were caught, the RA noticed the smoke detector was covered, and that made a situation we could have potentially gotten out of into a shit heap.

Anyway, hopefully the above suggestions are helpful, and good luck man. :rasta:

good luck man. there is no way i would live in the dorms at college, and there is probably no way for you to realistically get away with "the sweetest smoke room ever" in the dorms.

BUT i would suggest comfortable things. a nice couch and at least one other chair, some kind of coffee table or end tables, surround sound, don't let all the light come from one light source on the ceiling and use smaller lamps and stuff around the room. also cover the walls, don't leave any big blank spaces. good luck.

Dude, the cso's just make sure you're not breaking windows or anything and then they leave you alone. What are you even doing smoking in the quad areas when you have Crown meadow, Porter field, Cowell redwoods, etc?

I'm mostly on board with T. Panza and think wall tapestries, carpets, cushions, and more natural lighting are the way to go. And incense, but contrary to previous suggestions, I think weed incense would be the worst idea possible. "Quick, light some to make everything smell even more like weed". I vote Nag Champa but occasionally veer towards sandlewood.

I think posters would be pretty sweet so are those chairs that hang in the air by a chain on a wooden holder there shaped like an egg i think mortal kombat on your video game system would rock some beer in your mini fridge some hott posters on your wall will look sweet if people dont check your room i would have a hookah out a few bongs on the table and some pipes laying around and just puttin them away when people come also a whole dresser drawer full of rolling papers and shit it would rock

i bet a hammock would be awesome. i've been thinking about that lately, whether it would be possible... i'm living on campus for the first time in the fall, in some sweet new apartments they're building. actually another thing i'm thinking of getting is a metal bar like the kind used for chin-ups, and those boots you use for hanging upside-down by your ankles.

get some cool plants, like venus fly traps if you have a window sil or something, plants really do add interest to a room

Haha, When I was in college in the late nineties, they tried to tell me that I couldn't live off campus either. I told them I was going to live where I wanted, or I was taking my 17 grand a year elsewhere and they could kiss my ass. Glad they didn't call my bluff.

another idea. screw getting a big screen tv, have a wall with nothing in front of it and get a tv projector (400 was the cheapest i could find at staples) and play grand theft auto on the walls, the characters are like three feet tall!

ok when you come in have a welcom happy toking floormat...make it or somehting that would be sweet..... and then in glow in the dark paint, paint big mj leaves or your walls if you can....like try and make a stencil of it if you can..then a couple black lights..a few strobe lights....like 6 bean bags....instead of chairs like those huge ass bean bags...a big comfortable couch..but if the couch is outta the price range the bean bags are sweet..just get the biggest ones possible..and theres a relatively cheap smoke room.....have fun

W/e you do your sound system must be pushing at least 300 watts

My friend has a room above his garage, it's like a hexagon. So when you stand up and your tripping the two top sides make it look like everyones head is shaped like a hexagon... Maybe it was just me.
