Smoking Etiquette...

Some Standard Guidelines. . . .
Etiquette varies from country to country,
so feel free to add your own. . . . :thumbsup:

1. The person who rolls the joint, gets to light it.

2. Pass the joint around in a circular fashion.

3. Do not hang on the joint for too long - this is called a 'Bogart' and is a serious breach of etiquette.

4. If when smoking, someone asks for a sip of your drink, you must give them some, dry mouth is horrible and tortuous.

5. If you ask for a sip of someone's drink, take only that and NOT a gulp.

6. It's very impolite to pass someone the very end of a joint.

7. Try not to get the end of the joint wet with saliva.

8. If a good friend runs out of weed and you have some spare, give it to him and he in turn will reciprocate in your time of need.

9. Don't skin up using someone else's gear without asking.

When a friend arrives from a particularly 'dry' country, always meet them with a joint ready! Spread those good vibes!

I have one rule: Chill the fuck out. I hate smoking with people who are being total dicks.

I agree with Insanity. Some people are total dickheads that you meat and smoke with. They always have some dumbass comments to remark even if there smoking your weed.

I agree. I especially hate when poeple make a big deal when they smoke you down. I smoke kids down it seems like everday. Fuck them, they can return the favor sometime.

Word. I smoke dudes out all the fucking time... and if they make a fucking murmur about when they smoke me dout then they can go to hell and die.

I also hate when you're hanging out and one person is being a bitch about getting high. For example, I knew a dude who once cried because no one was in the mood to smoke a j with him (the kid is a fucking moron, anyways). The other thing is when people think smoking weed makes them better than other people, so they rub it in everyones face.

I believe in the karma principle when it comes to smoking people out. I find that if you're nice and generous, people like you. Example: One night, I was working and this asian guy came in, putting a pipe in his pocket. I was like dude, let's go smoke. And I gave him some weed to smoke. We went outside, smoked that, he matched a bowl of purple, and we said later.

Now, he's a regular "customer" from me, and he always smokes a bowl with me before he leaves. I'm his only hook within 30 miles.

Smoke unto others as you would have them smoke unto you.

and in times of extreme scarcity it gets passed like this, its roller first (of the spliff obviously), then owner (of the weed/hash), then doner (skins, tobacco, whatever).
if some little jumpstart fuck butts in and tries to mess up this rotation, their goin home in a bodybag

The biggest "smoking pet-peeve" I have is when someone says they will "match" you and you pack up a nice fat bowl happily of some well grinded up buds, no seeds or stems.....then when it's their turn they pull out their bag and rip of a teeny weeny chunk of a nugget, stem and all, and just put it in the bowl. It lights for a few times then its cashed and you're pissed 'cause you got screwed.

I had a fraternity brother like this in college. After I figured out how he was, I never smoked him up. Ever. If he came into the room I would either stop smoking or just tell him that it's between me and whoever else was already smoking it, sorry.

He proclaimed himself to be some "King of Pot." One time during a smoking session he told me he knew marijuana like the back of his hand. Funny thing was he was the worst person EVER to smoke with. He's one of those people that smells it down the street, runs to the house, runs upstairs, and ASKS if he can hit it just once....then puffs on it. If you say something to him he just says "Cmon man you guys smoked most of it, Im not even high yet." One time me and another one of my frat brothers were teaching our Ukranian (yes we have a Ukranian in our Fraternity haha) frat brother how to roll. He'd only watched people do it, never tried. So he rolls on up with our guidance and were getting ready to smoke it when the pot smoking retard shows up. He didn't know Vladimir had rolled it and when it got to him he just couldn't stop saying "man, this joint is shitty. This roll sucks! Blah blah blah." What a prick . He said he grew and every time I saw his bag it was some leafy small ass buds. When I harvest I plan on visiting my Fraternity house (home for summer break) and smoking everyone up with TRUE HOMEGROWN. Then I will laugh at him....uncontrollably, then probably make fun of him for everything he'd ever said about pot....

when passing a jason, pass it roach first, with enough space for the person to actually grip it.
sounds like common sense but im sure youve met somone who breaks that one

lol i remember goin to a gig i think it was sepultura.. anyway we go out back of the gig <i had onli started smokin recently at this stage and had made the joints before the show on a mat anyway we spark up and 2 girls come over and go ''you mind if we take a hit'' so eh i dont mind and pass it soon enough 3rd j or sumthing they start bitching nd whyning oh these joints are shit and saying how brillent they can roll etc.. just people like that that piss me off .. and people who think they are brillent or better than everyone else at smoking roling etc

Bogarting is the penal code for not puff puff passing it. the good ol biiiigggg hit then quick blow out and another big puff puff and sitting there its like fuck you and i never see them again. horrible thing to do u get one breath to take ur hit and past that and ur out. even if its ur weed thats fucked.

We follow those. Plus, always pass to the left in a moving vehicle.

i hate when a bowl is cashed and gets passed. i always give a heads up like "its pretty beat" when i pass a bowl that's pretty cashed and most usually decline. AND i hate when it's then offered to anyone else. it's all been smoked, let it go.

also not cool when its your weed and you're smoking with someone that never smokes you up, and you hand them a fresh bowl and tell them to hold it for a minute while you do something and they take the first hit.

also don't like when people take the first hit and burn the whole bowl. i usually burn just the one half so there's two green hits.

i have also had someone who i was smoking up for free that never gets me back tell me that the weed tastes shitty, which was DEFINITELY not true. it was some of the dankest i had ever had, crazy dense. that really actually made me kind of mad that they would be that rude, and at that point i said "well don't fuckin smoke it then" and kept it to myself.

i also hate when people suggest smoking weed when they themselves to not have any.

i also do not like the unwritten rule that you have to hang out with the person that smokes you up. i usually do, but sometimes if i am in the middle of something and my roomate comes and finds me and is like "hey wanna smoke" i will, but a couple minutes after we're done i go back to what i was doing.

i also don't like it when people try to match KB with schwag. it's a nice gesture and all, but might as well not even bother.

I'm mostly with you on that. Except people really earn my respect when they ask to be smoked out with a compensation plan offered up front instead of assuming that the fates with provide in due time owing to your benevolence. I find it pretty weak and devoid of accountability. Usually I will offer people smoke before they have to ask because when I'm dry I don't ever ask, I just wait to be offered, and if I'm not offered any, I can then relinquish myself to the hope that the fates will provide when they see fit. The karma perspective isn't anything that holds much water for me, only for when it nutures a desparate and hopeful smoker, not as a cure-all for dumbass scavengers who just mooch off of people's hard-earned bud.

I hate it when after you're done smoking, someone says i smoked more weed then you i had more etc etc it really pisses me off.

I think the worst one of them all is when you meet someone who smokes a helluva lot more than you, and even if you have a single joint thats packed with so little weed that it will barely give you alone the slightest buzz, they expect you to smoke them up.

And the worst one of the lot... 'I came here expecting to get stoned'. Say that, and you can get the fuck out and not come round ever again. I had that a couple of days ago, its like WTF? Youre my mate, youre supposed to come here to see me, not smoke up my entire stash. I know one person that wont be coming to my 19th...

I think that by now, everyone I smoke with knows the deal, for the most part. Honestly, it's so 'lax and chill now when we smoke, it just adds to the high. No one mentions "rules" and shit like that, but instead just listen to some music or whatever. It didn't used to be this like this, however.

I will say that my only "problem" as of right now has to do with the weed itself. See, I usually always have some amount of weed on me, while most of my buddies are dry as hell other than the occassional half 8th they have for 3 days. Now I don't mind shhmokin' them up in their dry times, because, I mean fuck, no one likes to be dry when there's bud around. I've smoked up a lot of my guys for a while now, and most of them at least hit me back sometime when they get their own.

I do have a few that usually just flat-out ask to smoke, which usually leads to me laughing and flat-out saying "no you prick." And when they do get bud, which is usually not more than again, a measly half 8th, they'll want to match a bowl with me instead of just hittin' back their boy from earlier. It's like they don't even recognize that I was bein' nice, so maybe return the favor? Lol, and thaz my rant.

It's all good though, b/c "if anyone's holdin', don't hold out."
