They teach blatant lies in school because GOD FORBID people learn the truth. It's not just drugs, its every thing. U.S. History is a joke, English and Math are undervalued and underfunded. Why the hell do we allow our children to grow up in such ignorace? We really have become so lazy as a society, because it's easier for the propaganda machines to teach our children than telling them the truth and respecting individual liberty.

Heroin is an opiate, which has the exact opposite effect on the body as an amphetamine.

I'll give you half credit on the cocaine comment. Cocaine is what they label a "euphoric stimulant". The chemical name is benzoylmethyl ecgonine.

Any drug that contains amphetamine will actually have amphetamine in the chemical name.

When I was that age I thought I'd never do drugs and I was probably saying the same shit as those little shits but then one day when I was growing up in a building with 16 hippies all on drugs (I'm serious) I decided that I would smoke and on that night I smoked I drank and I knew how wrong I really was... Now that's a child hood

I don't see anything wrong with teaching kids right from wrong. As much as we all love marijuana and other drugs that we feel shouldn't be illegal for whatever reason, they're still illegal. When they grow up, they will make their own decision about the fact. In this day and age, I'm glad they still have DARE around, it's not like when alot of us were kids, we never brought guns to school and crazy things like that. Teaching children that drugs are bad is not a bad thing, what should they be teaching them? That certain ones are ok? :confused:

There's a differance between teaching them right from wrong and lying to them to scare them. Drugs are illegal, and no kid should be told to go out and smoke weed (I wish I would have waited untill I was older to start). What gets to me is that these fear tactics don't do anything except breed an assload of idiot drug users who have never been taught the differnce between abuse and responsible use.
It isn't just drugs though... I mean we all grew up being told what they think our minds could handle. For example, I do not know many people that graduated from high school who could honestly tell me anything about General Custer and Little Big Horn, but I think everyone knows the cute story of our first Thanksgiving (which is also an outright lie). I mean there is a reason we have an undereducated apathetic public who believe what Fox News tells them.

Well, whether we *should* be teaching them that certain drugs are okay or not is a fair question. But we *are* teaching them that certain drugs are okay. We teach that alcohol is okay once you're 21 (or 18, or whatever your particular legal age is). And we teach that caffeine is okay. And we teach that nicotine and cigarettes are at least okay enough to be legal.

Perhaps instead of teaching children that this drug is okay and that drug isn't okay, we should just teach them to think rationally and make their own decisions, rather than cramming our (or others') opinions down their throats.

Thank God for Erowid's Vaults... I've made choices on the drugs I'm comfy with because of the generally nonbiased infromation they have.

I think it's bullcrap that the government is allowed to supply so many people with false information. Lying to everyone should be illegal somehow.

Haha i just realized that none of those kids are over 13! Why? Because when they get into high school most realize that drugs arent as bad as they thought they were. And many enjoy the drugs. Or maybe thats just what i think.

The biggest problem today is that we're teachings kids that everything illegal is just "drugs". Meth, Crack, Heroin, Marijuana, they're all just "drugs". I've even had debates in other forums about marijuana legalization and actaully had somebody say to me "you're an idiot if you think marijuana isn't bad. drugs are drugs". lol, thanks for the info Mr.Chemist.

I'm starting to think the gov made that up...

I'm so frustrated with this world's view on drugs.

In particular, I hate how they start teaching us that "drugs are bad" at such a young and impressionable age, and we are both miseducated and undereducated about drugs and everything about them. I remember that when I was young, I thought nobody would ever even do drugs. Years go by and once teenage years come around, a combination of growing up, curiosity, and the desire to do what you arent supposed to do start to kick in and we finally start to experiment. The results are usually unimaginably good, and we wonder why its something we are kept away from, which leads to even more desire. We gain an entirely new perspective on
"drugs" and their effect on the world, simply from trying them.

The responsible use of drugs can do wonders.

Those testimonials are all BS and completely fabricated.

No group of young kids would all coincidentally emphasize on random words using CAPS.

when i first saw this page i thought the exact same thing, what they do is have all these pages with the stuff they want on them, then in the drug classes in school they give you packets and have these websites on them and encourage you to go visit them and get on them as a class in a computer lab and "explore" them as a class

the biggest dealer in my school won the D.A.R.E. essay back when we were in 5th grade. :)
