Is the attic of a house to warm for growth?

I am wanting to grow some in a made room in my attic but it is very hot during the day, just wondering if it would hurt my clones?

How hot is hot? Over 85 is pushing it, but doable. If you have the bucks, you can look into some cheep and affective AC units.

I don't really know an exact temp but its pretty hot. I was wondering if a few fans would cool it down enough? I am really just starting and wanted to go as cheap as possible. I would say its mid 80's to mid 90's in the hottest part of the day.

85 to 95....is that without any light? Even floros generate some heat, and fans only blow the heat around. You would need some way to eliminate the hot air and replace it with cooler air.

Attics generally are not very good grow spots. They get real hot in summer, and cold in winter. Good luck

yeah probably 85 to 95 without lights. But I have some really good vent fans think that will help with the heat? I have one 400w hps lamp also. What about in the crawlspace of a house good place or not?

Crawlspace would be good but if it gets real cold in there in the winter that will be a problem. I had a grow in a basement and I built a small 6X6X6 room down there out of 2X4's and plywood and the used foil backed insulation to do up the walls. The foil side was for my reflective walls, and it insulated the room, and it sealed the room well. I used aluminum tape to seal all the joints in the insulation. Kept all the stink in too ;) And my lights were plenty to keep it warm enough in the room, even with ventilation.

I would consider the crawl space as well. Also, if you build an enclosed box you can always throw one of those electric oil heaters in there to bring up temps when the lights are out for the winter.

Sealed room in attic works well, just have to have plenty of airflow from inside the house to cool the box. Same could be applied to crawl space rooms, just pump the air from inside the house down to the box.

You can grow in the attic easily if you have a window to throw an AC into.
With no AC, my attic tops 110 in the summer. With AC, it is 75, or whatever I set it to.

In the winter, you're going to get some heat from your HPS, but during the dark cycle a small heater will be beneficial.

I have no problems growing in my attic, but the electrical costs are much higher than when I used to grow in the basement.

yeah, just decided to go to the corn feild. Figured I could fix a little room up when the funds grow a little. I just never tried to grow indoors and thought I would like it more but it seems a lot more expensive!!

Maybe I'll try it again in the winter. My ballast also shot on me so can't really do much now!! What are some good flouresents to use, spiral bulbs or tubes and how many watts? I know they won't do as well but a lot cheaper.

Just get the proper ventilation.
